The new orthodontist had it fixed in 4 weeks at about one tenth the cost. The premises are bright and modern but it is really like a factory. One of those was a 'consulting' visit. Of the remaining seven, 4 were to fix the brace that had come off. Only 3 appointments actually provided orthodontic treatment. At less than twenty minutes for each appointment that is over $8,500 an hour. If you take actual time with a dentist (at most 5 minutes a visit) then you are talking $26,000 an hour. I can come to no other conclusion that this place was over-servicing us and under-providing. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I was extremely happy with the level of service we received. Dr Tiffany is absolutely lovely and used her warm personality to help us through some fairly intensive calculus removal! Her assistant (who's name I have forgotten) was also lovely. We had booked in for the check up, X-ray and clean deal under private health insurance - it ended up costing us $150 each outside the gap but for the work that Dr Tiffany did (and considering we both had had a very significant lapse in visiting the dentist) that seemed to me as being a good price. My husband will be returning for fillings, and we will also be returning regularly to keep our teeth in order from now on! What a pleasure to find such a great health supplier! I was very satisfied with my treatment. I was assessed and a plan ewas given to me with all the pricing I would be up for. My dentist explained that we could do certain procedures (more urgent ones) and wait on doing the other procedures. Greville Dental came up pretty quick after a search, it seemed like an okay place, so I went for it. I'm happy I did as I probably had the best experience at a dentist in my life. I was able to book the next day, I arrived on time, filled out a short form and was seen right away with hardly any wait. The dentist I saw - Shannon Yap - was friendly and direct and efficient and explained all that was going on in my mouth in clear language/detail, walking me through the X-Ray's after and pointing out a couple of things that needed amends, but also wasn't pushy about booking me back in etc. Then, turns out it's a Bupa Members First place, so the whole clean/consultation was covered even with a basic plan, and I was out in about 30minutes with a complimentary bottle of listerine and toothpaste (nice touch). For the first time in my life, I'm actually planning on going to the dentist regularly (every 6 months to a year) so long as I live in the area. It was an unexpectedly pleasant (for a dentist!) experience, and I highly recommended giving it a try if you don't like going to the dentist.

Disclaimer - I have health insurance with Aust Unity (..but I'm guessing so do most people who use…read morethis clinic) I've used 2-3 different dentists at this clinic but recently settled on a guy named Alvin Shee. I recently got a chunk of money from work for important dental. The dentist my work recommended suggested about 6 small jobs which would've gone through the money allocated by work exactly (funny that;). They pressured me to start straight away but I made them wait and give me the x rays then went to Alvin for a second opinion. Thank God! One of the first things these other guys (Smile Dental Brunswick st) wanted to do was cap one tooth at a cost of about $600. That tooth was rotten from beneath and fell apart a week later!! Instead of the 6 small jobs Alvin recommended one big one which involved pulling a tooth, inserting a bridge and paying a little myself. His clinic doesn't usually work with the providers of this money but he bent over backward to help. All the dentists at this practice are young and up to date on latest materials and treatments (unlike my old dentist who filled my mouth with mercury - since problematic). When I've occasionally been unable to settle a bill on the day they've given me a couple of weeks although I think this policy just changed. It's not 'your friendly family dentist' but so many dentists work here that you can always see someone at short notice if it's urgent Use Alvin if you can!

I'm sure he is good at his job, I don't really know as my appointment had been shortened due to a delay in the previous, and therefore was told I was unable to get my filling in this appointment. It cost me about $85 for the appointment and the test to check which teeth need to be filled. I'm not upset about that cost, but am upset I'll have to pay yet another consultation fee on top of approx $215 for the filling. However, I didn't express any concerns in my appointment, but that didn't prevent the dentist from telling me off. He told me off for incorrectly identifying between 1 and 10 the level of discomfort I was in, I can only describe from what I know, so maybe 1 to 10 isn't the most effective method maybe asking if it hurts as much as x since it seemed to really annoy you. I also got lectured for booking a 30 minute emergency booking (I have no idea what he is talking about as I did it through health engine and they just show you what's available not what type of appointment it is). He said 30 minutes is not long enough and made me feel like it was my fault, he should be happy he's making even more money out of me. What was weird though was when I went to reception she booked next week's appointment (which I'm about to cancel and go to melbourne dentist clinic instead as I've heard good things) and she said it was 30 minutes. So is this standard or emergency? I don't know.

I haven't lived in Melb for awhile…read more- I've been in Seattle and San Francisco for 8 years, and literally every dentist I've seen has praised the fillings that Dr. Julian Moore did. My husband said he's had the same experience, so between us we've probably had five or six dentists who've been impressed by his work. My husband said that Dr. Julian Moore was the first competent dentist he'd ever been to (the year before he'd gone to two dentists highly recommended by people we knew and found them to be just OK), and after the work he had done his teeth had finally stopped hurting. I also thought he was good, but needed much less work so had less to base my opinion on. I think that most of us aren't great at judging dentists since we don't really know what's going on - we're satisfied as long as they're nice enough and don't think too much expensive work is needed. So to have every one of my subsequent dentists say that whoever who did my fillings did an excellent job, that carries a lot of weight with me. Every so often my husband and I are like "hey, do you remember that really great dentist we had in Melb?" and tonight I was curious enough to try and remember his name. I found it in an old google hangout chat with my sister (I was trying to get her to switch), and that prompted me to write this random yelp review 8 years later.

In my search for a new dentist after moving to Melbourne, I thought I'd give a local a try. Big…read moremistake. Firstly, I booked a cleaning/scaling and check-up, but when I arrived they hadn't schedule enough time for both, so I had to come back for a second appointment. They should have known that as a new patient from a foreign country I'd probably need to get new x-rays done. I was billed for both appointments. Secondly, at my follow-up appointment was advised that I should get all of my fillings re-done because this dentist prefers metal fillings to the white fillings most cosmetic-sensitive dentists use. When I expressed some skepticism -- the United States isn't exactly backwards when it comes to dentistry, and I'd had a pretty good one -- the dentist insisted that my filings had all been done poorly and needed to be redone. Thirdly, the dentist tried to prescribe me a dairy-based tooth gel. I am very allergic to dairy products and had listed this as an allergy on my intake form. Obviously, the dentist had not reviewed this information. Fourthly, when I asked to have my x-rays sent to another dental office -- naturally, I wanted a second opinion -- the dentist called me personally, while I was at work, to try to talk me out of it and was incredibly difficult about releasing my x-rays even though it is his legal obligation to do so. He asked which dentist I was going to, and then insulted that dentist and her entire office by suggesting that they were unskilled. His entire manner was extremely unprofessional, confrontational, and even hostile. Fifthly, the follow-up exam with the other dentist confirmed my suspicions. My fillings were fine and -- besides a single filling that had been chipped -- did not need to be re-done, saving me hundreds of dollars. I would warn anyone from coming to this dentist (Dr. Julian Moore). Unprofessional conduct aside, I have good reason to suspect that he is simply out to gouge patients for money by insisting on unnecessary procedures.
