Fertig Funeral Home - This was Bobs response via text after confronted after my dads memorial service

You can imagine our devastation after not only losing my dad but then having an incompetent funeral director drop the ball and never bother to inform us the Navy wasn't coming. When he called today after getting nasty with me via text when confronted after my dads memorial service Bob told me that he didn't realize that Friday was a federal holiday and that was why he couldn't confirm the detail for a Saturday funeral. Now mind you he had almost 4 weeks to do it as we had my dad cremated. Well I guess he was the only person in the US who didn't realize that the Navy is a federal outfit and they would be closed on Juneteenth. He never thought to call prior to that even though I submitted all necessary paperwork to him well before the service. Oh yes, I had to get all of the paperwork. That was another task he as the director couldn't handle! My mom even touched base with him a few days prior to my dad's service and he told her it was a go. He then lied and stated that he never said that after I confronted him. Through all of this my dad never received the military honors at his burial and it has caused my family so much emotional distress and we are even more devastated that my dad never received the burial he deserved. All because of utter incompetence!

I researched every funeral home in South Jersey- and they were the most fairly priced. They were professional, kind, helpful, and bent over backwards to help my family in a stressful time. They accepted my online purchased casket, followed the requests of the deceased, provided a guest book, and thank you cards. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends or family.

So glad I did and so glad to have met Ray and Jennifer from Kelley's who worked so hard to make a difficult process flow seamlessly in such a calm and relaxed manner. They accepted my online purchased casket without hesitation, accommodated my every request, and treated everyone with respect and dignity. No one needs to be "upselling" or creepiness at such a difficult time and these guys understood that. They discussed all aspects of the arrangements in a straight forward and sensitive manner without using cliche language or euphemisms. The home feels like a large home, a warm place where family and friends can gather safely to comfort one another and say good bye. We had all the time in the world and everything was beautifully coordinated. The only draw backs were we had to bring our own wide screen TV and DVD player and credit cards were not accepted, but I'm not sure funeral homes in general are as tech savvy as other businesses these days and we did get a discount for early payment. Minor drawbacks given the professionaI and caring services we received. I highly recommend this business for anyone's funeral needs.

Cemeteries are such a difficult review but as I drove slowly through this cemetery towards my…read morefriend's gravesite I was thinking ... this isn't a bad place for a final earthly destination. It is massive and includes treed lots where the headstones show that this cemetery was established shortly after the founding of our nation. It has obviously been expanded out into rolling farm hills but the owner shows respect and care throughout. There are "memorial benches" throughout the cemetery where visitors can sit and reflect. Very nice touch ... mmmm might be a thought for my future headstone. And, what impressed me were the "grave diggers." Yes, I notice grave diggers .... all too many of them look out of place with the solemn graveside ceremonies they watch. These two men stood at attention next to the grace as the pall bearers carried the casket forward. They showed respect to the casket and represented the cemetery in a positive way. So, I know nothing about costs nor business practices so I can't give a 5 star due to the unknown factors but on the presentation ... I almost (Note, almost) want to just go back and sit there to contemplate life but it's hard to think life surrounded by death.

They do not check on their over-paid half-assed contractors and enough is enough. I am reaching out to the news media for investigations into this issue. Do you want your loved ones to rest in eternal weeds? This is a disgrace and it needs to be addressed and resolved and NEVER happen again!!!!
