Wintersteen is a complete scam. I have very valuable antique furniture and was terrified of having…read moreit get damaged when I moved. Well, they charged me more than FOUR TIMES what other companies quoted, which I paid because they came recommended so I thought they would be better. BUT my furniture was heavily damaged and--despite many promises in words AND WRITING that they would pay for repairs--my repeated calls, texts, and emails have been ignored. And because it took me longer than 3 months to get a quote on the repairs, I no longer have the option of suing them. They won't even tell me if or how I can collect on the insurance they charged me even more for. Here's what happened to my furniture: my great-grandmother's sofa, which has the original mahogany finish so it can't be refinished, was (1) chipped (2) scraped (3) somehow got white paint on it. Mr Wintersteen went at it with some kind of solvent and got the paint off after like half an hour of scrubbing. But how does white paint get tossed around in a moving truck!? Then an antique table had deep scrapes and gouges in the top. Photos of all are attached, except that I didn't get a pic of the white paint before Mr. Wintersteen got it off. I'm just lucky I have a "before" pic of the sofa arm, because I took some photos to show them the pieces they'd be moving; they tried to convince me that it had all been like that, but my friend who was present when the furniture was picked up, was shocked and supported me (and my photos) in saying it definitely had not. I get so angry when I think about it because they ripped me off soooo badly. I can't believe how much I paid to have my furniture wrecked! Their price was beyond outrageous. And then they pretended to be so nice and solicitous so I believed they were going to take care of it, and so I stupidly didn't look up the statute of limitations on suing for property damage until it was too late. I can't believe how gullible I was. Anyway, save yourself and your furniture by looking elsewhere for your movers!
