Smithfield BBQ in Warsaw is pure comfort food for me. It's right in my small hometown and no matter how long I've been gone, this is always one of my first stops when I'm back. It's just that kind of place that brings me so much comfort. This restaurant is reliable, unfussy, and really good at what it does. As is the case throughout the South, the fresh brewed iced tea is one of the highlights. One sip and it immediately tastes like home. My favorite thing on the menu has always been and will always be the Brunswick stew. It's absolute comfort food that's warm, hearty, and nostalgic in a way that hits every time. It's an Eastern North Carolina tradition, and Smithfield BBQ is one of the best in the business. As for other regional specialities, the hushpuppies deserve their own shoutout too. The slightly sweet cornbread batter is perfectly fried every time, which makes these little carb morsels crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside. I've been eating them dipped in ketchup since I was a kid and I'm not about to stop now. Quit quietly judging me, LOL! The bbq sandwiches are messy and not designed to be easy to eat on the go, but the bbq plates are the best deal. I love getting the pulled pork plate with potato salad (the best). Since I'm Eastern N.C. born and raised, I basically was born with a taste for classic vinegar bbq sauce. Smithfield's is terrific, and I love drowning my pork in that tangy goodness. Every bite seriously brings me back to lazy summer Sundays hanging out with my best friend in my Grandmama's grassy backyard. You can't put a price on those culinary memories.   Service is fast, takeout is easy, the dining room's small but cozy, and there's even a drive-through for when you're in a hurry. Smithfield BBQ is not trying to be trendy or fancy, nor have they ever been. It's just a place that serves really solid Eastern North Carolina BBQ done right. Been to this franchise before so decided to swing off of route to grave 2 pints of pulled pork to take home since we don't have any of these franchises at home (unfortunately). Very clean and well kept restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They even have additional picnics tables out back as well. Lots of BBQ options. They also have chicken fingers and tons of sides. They have pork rinds that are great as well. They even sell some merchandise to take home with you. Don't leave without some pulled pork! It's a vinegar based sauce and oh so delicious. Stopped here to get lunch in the drive thru. Lady who took my order was so nice and very easy to understand. I got what I ordered and it came out hot. This place gave me tons of hush puppies! Excellent flavors, quick service, clean restaurant. Quality fast food. I got the barbecue plate, with Eastern NC style bbq, potato salad and beans. The beans and potato salad have amazing flavor and the barbecue comes a bit bland but moist, so if you like a lot of flavor I suggest adding vinegar. The bbq sandwich with slaw is delicious. Smithfield's Chicken N' Bar-B-Q saved our Bell family gathering when our caterer scheduled us for the incorrect date. My 83 year old mother was in tears and we had to think quickly. We reached out to Mr. Lerma (I hope I spelled his name correctly) with our challenge and a request for food to feed 60 people. Much to our surprise we were told our request could be filled in 20 minutes!!!!! 20 minutes!!!!! We all felt relief and complete gratitude for the calm and confidence in his voice. So we have been eating here for years on our way from Raleigh to Emerald Isle and have never been disappointed until today. While the service, and taste of the food were excellent, it appears "Shrinkflation" has been adopted. I make terrific fried chicken. We come here when I'm lazy. Their Cole slaw is as good as mine- and a whole lot easier . And the chicken is tasty. They season the chicken- not just the coating. This comment is long overdue! We were at the Wake Forest branch of SCNB on Mother's Day. I had a large party of family coming in with little children. Ashley our server was FABULOUS! Ashley was friendly and ready to help in anyway she could. First, she helped me----no she set up the tables for me. Our food was out quickly and as always very tasty! Ashley helped in anyway she could to meet our needs and the needs of the little ones. We had a wonderful family lunch for Mother's Day---with 3 Mommas present. I usually leave the tip up to Daddy, but after he had left his tip. I went and found her to thank her and to give her a little bit extra. I don't usually review chain restaurants but I love SCNB food, and I love this particular restaurant. It's a must stop for my family on the way home on I-40 from a day at the beach. It's big and clean and the people that work there are just down-home friendly and hospitable. Ate there yesterday and it was like always... a perfect way to feed a hungry bunch after hours in the surf, sand and sun. The food is fresh and FAST. The helpings are generous! Order 6 crispy hot hush puppies and you'll get 8. While the pork bbq isn't traditional wood smoked eastern style, it is the nearest thing you'll get to it. On 12/13/2023 @ 3:51pm I treated my mother to some smithfield's as this was her favorite restaurant. Until this older caucasian guy in his mid-60's was so rude and disrespect to my mother and I. He didn't greet us when we walked up there, his face was mad looking like he didn't want to take our order but he had to b/c the nice lady beside him was working hard & sweet to her customers. This old white guy made my mom and I feel like he didn't want to serve us b/c we are African American. When I asked him about a product on the menu he would say exactly what i was saying, but in a different way trying to confuse me. So when I was trying to clarify it with him, is this what you mean he would just say over & over again what he said the first time. So after several times of trying I told him that is exactly what i am say, but in question form. He would type it in as if that is what I wanted when I was trying to just ask a simple question. My mom was really sad and disappointed on how this white guy treated us. If you don't like your job then quit. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt b/c you never know what someone is going through. So basically this was the best pulled bbq sandwich I have had in my life. There was the perfect ratio of meat to bun to coleslaw. The coleslaw is on the top and bottom of the meat. The sandwich is so light and fresh. I had to go back for seconds and try the fried chicken. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Some of the best friend chicken I have ever had. Wowza.
