If you don't know about Smith's Gardentown, you should RUN not walk to this gardening oasis! On July 28, 2025, you may wonder why a Brooklyn, New York resident reached out to Smith's Gardentown in Wichita Falls, Texas for plant / gardening assistance & guidance. Attempts to contact and speak with garden entities in Brooklyn, New York were unsuccessful. As an Instagram novice, a direct message sent to Smith's Gardentown received a response. These Gardening Higher Powers answered my numerous questions about poinsettias and plants requiring identification. These southern garden experts were so generous with their knowledge and expertise. It is a beautiful thing when social media platforms are used to inspire, educate, and elevate gardening enthusiasts. -- First, I requested a poinsettia diagnosis of what to do with a plant that appeared to be struggling to survive. Smith's Gardentown provided an immediate assessment of the next steps to make my 2024 poinsettia thrive in 2025 and beyond. When this constructive garden knowledge was dispensed, another gardening question was asked. -- Second, another request was made regarding identifying names of two ( 2 ) unknown plants in my possession without identities. Once again, Smith's Gardentown immediately named my two ( 2 ) unknown garden beauties as Calathea Rufibarba and Monstera (See Attached). Yes, there was an urge to ask a final question although I had so many more questions to ask of these plant genius gurus at Smith's Gardentown. -- Finaly, a request to say either my succulent was alive OR had quietly moved on to the light for immediate burial for this once thriving succulent plant. Personally, I thought it best to remove the dying succulent and simply stick in the soil for potential regrowth. Again, Smith's Gardentown affirmed my "half green thumb" thought of sticking the not yet dying succulent into the soil. However, Smith's Gardentown gardening professionals further suggested to prevent rot - Remove the dying succulent from the soil, Let the end dry out for 3 - 5 days, and then Stick it back in the soil. The only time I was ever fortunate to receive this kind of invaluable insight was at a medical office from a trusted medical professional! Smith's has been my go to nursery since I moved back to Wichita Falls in 1988! They are knowledgeable, patient and their plants are very healthy. Every employee is willing to help you in any way that they can. Their wild bird products are phenomenal! The seeds are fresh with no waste. The feeders are well constructed and the much needed advice is free. The gift section is varied and unique. Anytime I need a special gift, I go to Smith's! Every year they go all out for the Holifays and this year is no different even with the pandemic going on. Seeing as it is outside and they still offer their over the top props, landscape design and combine it all in with the Holiday. They do have some Christmas items up inside but the pumpkins, rides and activities are all outside. I'd recommend making a visit if your looking for your Halloween pumpkin needs. read more

I used Smith's Gardentown to order mulch recently. The process was SUPER easy. The staff was kind, attentive and prompt. I ordered literally a truckload of mulch and they delivered it the next morning. The delivery driver called 10 minutes before delivery and then quickly maneuvered the dump truck into our driveway. The whole process too 5 minutes tops. I will be using them for my garden needs from now on. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Smith's yesterday! You have to know how happy I am because I haven't stopped thinking about how great the experience was. I came in Friday afternoon after a recommendation from a co-worker to hopefully put together a plant arrangement for a co-worker who lost two family members in one weekend. I had a large budget to work with because we had done a collection of money for the purpose of getting her flowers or a plant. Well we ended up with such a decent amount of money that I thought I could do something more extravagant than we originally thought. I asked for Greg as recommended by Preston Smith but Greg was occupied at the time. Instead I was introduced to Kristine. I told her what I was hoping for and she showed me a couple of arrangements that she had made previously. We talked about what size and type of plants then we got started on picking some beautiful plants for the arrangement. She was excited and so helpful!!! She picked plants with amazing shades of green and said they all have the same watering schedule as well. Once we had the plants picked out she asked if I could come back to get it around 5pm. That was not a problem at all. When I got back at about 5:15 she was there waiting for me. She stayed late so that she could see my reaction to her beautiful creation! She was so proud to show me what she had done and I had no idea she was going to add decorative rocks and stones. She also added a drip tray! All of those things and she stayed way under budget which allowed me to buy a gift card for the recipient as well. I couldn't be more happy with this experience! The recipient was brought to tears! This make it SO much easier- less of a mess & all around, just good customer service.
