This guy sucks. He's going to try to rip you off. Do not go here. I paid for a smog on my s10. He failed me and told me that even though I had NO check engine light, no problems with how the truck ran, that there was a "pending" light... I didn't know what that meant so I took my truck to mikes 3 point auto just up the street. I told him what they said and mikes said that that's "not a thing." Mikes said there were no faults codes stored, no lights and no misfires. They told me that they were trying to rip me off and sell me some labor. If there is no check engine light, then there is nothing for them to not process my smog. Mikes 3 point auto not only gave my truck a good cleaning, but got my truck smog passed for me! So do not go to smog 805. These jerks are trying to rip people off!! read more

My 1982 Corvette did not pass the smog test. I took it to Smog 805. He had some problem getting it to pass. Recommended I take it to local Chevrolet dealership. I told him they refuse to work on cars older than 2000. I also told him I called repair shop that previous owner of car used to get service. They refused. He said let me check on some things. Contacted shop in Carpinteria. The following Thursday my car was ready. he did a great job. read more

Man, these guys really have it together. After leaving 2 other smog test places with a sour taste in my mouth (the first for not telling me their smog equipment was broken until after I had waited an hour, and the 2nd for not having a satisfactory enough grasp of the English language to understand that my 50-state certified aftermarket supercharging system is indeed smog legal, even after being pointed out the E.O. number right on the serial tag), I drove around to find a place with a SMOG CHECK sign that I could try yet again to get my car certified, and I found Auto Masters on Telephone Road. I crossed my fingers that this time, I would find someone that knew what the hell they were doing...and (shock of shocks) that spoke and understood English. I got my wish and then some. When I got there, I met Zack, and he put me at ease right away. I told him my situation, and he knew right off the bat that Vortech Supercharging Systems are 50-State Legal, and he told me not to worry. He pulled my car in, and we chatted away about cool cars and aftermarket legal modifications while he ran the tests, and just a short 15 minutes later, I had passed with flying colors. I was looking for a local smog shop as I needed to get my truck smogged for a pending sale. I found AutoMasters on Yelp. I called and the receptionist answered immediately. She took my name down and told me she'd have me out in about 20 minutes. By the time I got there, two other vehicles had shown up... so I got bumped down a couple of spots. Nevertheless, the receptionist was friendly and communicative. She was very specific as to what needed to be done, and soon enough my turn came up. The technician was very thorough and ran the smog check with clockwork precision. It did take a litle bit longer (and that's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars). But I was in and out in about 40 minutes, which is still reasonable in my book. read more

Awesome service! In and out about as quickly as I've ever experienced getting a smog check. As a frontline healthcare provider, I'm particularly sensitive to business practices in our current COVID environment. This place was outstanding. Masks required to enter the office; easy check in and out from a distance; fresh gloves and mask worn while test being completed. Even without the health precautions, the service was great. READ THIS ONE; I never review places, but I felt the need to warn of yet another quick to charge/ quick to dismiss you type of shop. 2nd time going here, after the first time I was turned away I decided to give them another chance with a separate vehicle. The technician, Neville McClain, assumes you know nothing about cars and will take advantage of that, he was my technician both visits unfortunately. Most reputable shops will do a brief look around the car and if they don't feel comfortable smogging it they will turn you away free of charge. Here Neville hooked up my car, everything passed diagnostics like it should but then proceeds to tell me that my factory emmisions equipment is in fact not factory and was tampered with. When I called him out on this and explain why he thought that way he became unprofessional, wouldn't listen to reason or explain other than he was a smog technician. I don't reccomend going here if you want to waste time or be taken advantage of, I do all my own work so thankfully I can identify when this is happening. If you have had similar situation or unpleasant experience, report them to the BBB.There are too many smog shops in oxnard or ventura to give a subpar shop our business; smog 4 less in Ventura or persicion automotive in oxnard to name a few. These are honest shops that will work with you ,teach/inform you, and on top of that charge you fairly. Next time I'll brave the wait time to go these places and I hope you'll all do the same. read more

Found out I had to get a smog test when I renewed my registration at the DMV (we didn't get or couldn't find our notice from them, so I went in to get it taken care of when we saw the sticker was out of date). Yelped to find this place. They're really close to the Ventura DMV. I went over right away without any appointment. In and out within 15 minutes (even 1 person ahead of me). Very friendly, very knowledgeable, very efficient. Will definitely be back for future smog tests. read more

FANTASTIC :) After attempting to get a smog at another nearby shop (won't name names) this guy came through and saved the day! The "other" place had a policy where it wouldn't smog check my Dad's truck because 1 of the many emission's sensors hadn't completely reset due to a recent dead battery..(CRAP!) Being it was a Sat and I was only visiting for the weekend to help my Dad, WE HAD TO GET IT DONE THAT DAY! After frantically leaving the "other" place that recommended we try "another" mystery spot which we couldn't find, we rolled into the parking lot of Auto Masters. After sheepishly asking technician at Auto Masters if he knew where this "other" place was, he asked a few questions about the issue we "thought" we had and then said 4 beautiful words to my dad and I that were music to our ears... "I CAN SMOG IT"!! YES!.. Within 15 minutes we were driving off with a PASS report card! Auto Masters came through and if you live in the Ventura area.. YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS YOUR SPOT!! The most asinine thing I'd ever heard upon setting up residence in California was the smog test. Twenty years later, I still think it asinine and a rip off. However, if you want to feel a little less ripped off, head on over to Auto Masters where Thomas and Laura will get you in and out as soon as possible and make you feel better at only taking 20 minutes to spend $49.75. Ventura Axxess card users don't forget to present the card and get the $10 discount off of EVERY test. Smogging your car really has changed recently. It used to take about 30-45min to have your car smogged and there was all this hassle, and tech talk and the fear of not passing.
