What a fun place! This is by far the largest patio bar I've been to so far in San Antonio, and there are plenty to go to! There is a cool view of the downtown skyline, 2 service bars and plenty of seating areas - although you do have to reserve the cabana booths - they do have tv's to watch games on. The night we were in, there was an awesome live band that was playing as well and the DJ was playing good music when the band wasn't playing. So two things I recognized about Smoke BBQ ... first let me start off by saying that I met the owner Adrian and Manager Carlos which both showed kindness in our brief interaction. That said, I more than likely will not attend another event at Smoke until they fix a few things. The first priority should be installing restrooms. They're currently using porta potties and that's highly unacceptable and absolutely disgusting. I knew going there that I wouldn't DARE use one today and I didn't. Secondly, I witnessed some disturbing interactions between security and two minority women. These two ladies were of the same race and one was scolded publicly and my friend was escorted out for nothing other than "getting too close to the VIP table" ... a table others were close to as well but never approached. ‍ The reason I'm posting this is because I think it's important to make people/establishments aware and accountable for their actions. I can no longer sit back and support a venue that treats their paying patrons in such a vile manner. They were more concerned about two ladies getting close to a table than a lady puking in a bucket at that same VIP table in front of us for a good 30 minutes. I'm going to end on this .. the only thing that separates any business from another (especially during these unique times) is their service and care for people. Treat people with RESPECT always no matter the color of their skin, race or ethnicity. Shame on their security team that was on duty! And Shame on the owner/management if they don't act on this and make some much needed changes. It was my first time and will be my LAST! I was staying at the hotel across the street from this BBQ spot. When I checked in they recommended here not only because it was so close to the hotel but because they had good food. I like BBQ every so often so I was excited to try it out. When you arrive, you must order inside then you can take your food outside to eat it. While I was sitting outside, they had many tv's to watch the several foot ball games on. They also had a Dj playing. There weren't that many people because it was a Sunday night. Frm the looks of it, this place can fit a giant crowd of people during alive event. My food was good. I got a taco that had beef brisket and even though it was large I ate it quick. I was thinking of giving this place a 2 star because the patio is nice but I can't because the food is horrible. What I paid is crazy for the small portioned and not great food 22.00 for the 2 meat and 2 side, iced tea is 3.00 + tax of 2.06 and non-cash adjustment of 1.08 and 2.00 tip (you order from the counter and they bring the food over but aside from that, there is no other interaction) TOTAL of $30.14. Yes yes, I know I'm paying for the riverwalk experience but this is ridiculous. I tried to eat as much as I can but the brisket was dry. The sausage was okay (it's edible, I've had better store bought smoked sausages) but not even close to okay compared to bbq places I've been to before. The creamed corn you can taste the condensed milk, the potato salad is okay too. The only thing I finished was the sausage but you'll see in the photo, it's not really much. There were 3 women who sat in front of me and they actually asked for a refund of the brisket nachos they ordered which they couldn't even eat, the sour cream was lumpy, one of the woman showed me. The good thing the manager did refund it all for them which I should have done but oh well. The girl who took my order is nice but those are the only redeeming thing about this place. I don't care if the food is expensive if the food is really good.
