The same item in the restaurant however, was not as good. Very dry. Brisket is the hardest thing to make well when it comes to BBQ. Don't do the brisket here. Anything but the brisket. The atmosphere is motorcycles and knick knacks with live entertainment on special nights. They have a daily special that I have never been disappointed with. I have had some wonderful smoked ham and the chicken and waffles is delightful! I am a fan of the sweet potato mash as a chosen side. The sweet tea is a great companion to any meal and they have a great selection of beer and other libations to wet your whistle. Smokehouse has been delightful about accomodating our large groups for meetings. The servers have been great and on busy nights, the owner is there to check on you personally. Parking is a chore on 124 street during peak hours. You usually don't have to walk more than a block to find something though. read more

Excellent beef brisket, having gone to "king of the smoker" and have tried award winning brisket, this restaurant is doing well in producing a top quality sandwich.......oh and by the way, the guy I was eating with there today is a judge and also goes down to California, he was very happy with "the works" sandwich. P.s the little extra on top, "the sliced quarter deep fried pickle" I loved that. I recently saw a review complaining about the pickle- if it were a entire pickle....it would be soggy AF, and if you want more, then order more- it's an extra not a side. The pit beans were great! I love homestyle beans, great job. I have a slight amount of constructive criticism, the portion of fries on the side were amazing, but the beans I subbed for my fries were a very small portion, this could be because i subbed it in. I was expecting way more! We were pretty excited to try it out and it was just okay. The space is nice and I liked the overall vibe including the friendly servers. I had heard great things about the jalapeno cornbread and to me they didn't seem fresh. The taste was okay, but not outstanding. It was the best part of the meal though. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was average. Not cool for a place specializing in meat! It was kind of dry. My husband had the ribs and they were also dry and were more like ham. It was weird. The "cajun" potato salad was watery potato salad with cajun spice sprinkled on top. The other people in our party had the chicken and sausage gumbo and the bbq chicken which went over well. Overall I was expecting WAY more and to be honest, Tony Roma's has better ribs! I probably won't go back. Too many other good places to try! read more

I ordered in from Smokehouse BBQ using Skip the Dishes, so I cannot comment on service or atmosphere. However, I can comment on food. My boyfriend and I ordered the 2 meat/2 side combo for $19.95 each. We both ended up with fried chicken, and then separately got one order of beef brisket and one order of pulled pork. For sides we split corn bread, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. The food was delicious. It was deliver hot and fast. The chicken was crunchy and flavourful. They have is three sides of really tasty bbq sauce to dip everything in. The cornbread was a little flavourless, I was expecting a bit more jalapeño punch, but still satisfying. Overall I would definitely recommend Smokehouse just based on food alone. I'm looking forward to going into the restaurant and trying out the famous bacon balls! read more

Lots to like and some to be disappointed in. The good news is that this place does great brisket and that alone makes it worth a visit. The ribs have a nice smoke ring, but very little meat. The pulled pork was pretty good. The atmosphere is roadhouse and it is nice when they have the windows open and the street noise comes in. It would easily accommodate a large crowd. Good selection of beer on tap. So what needs work? The homemade potato chips are overly spicy. Probably OK when sitting at the bar with a beer, but not good as a side dish. The pork rinds seemed a little sour or off. The chairs they inherited from Cosmos are uncomfortable. We asked to take some uneaten food home with us, but it was never brought back out. I had the full rack of ribs lots of meat on the ribs a so tender it just melted in your mouth. They served the ribs with four different sauces. The estimated delivery time was around 45 minutes and it took closer to 80 minutes because they forgot to include a wide. This is a great place to take the family, or enjoy a night out. They have bands on the weekends, and the sauces are to die for! They smoke all their own meats, and have a fantastic selection of entrees. Its a smokehouse, so the decor is picnic inspired; but I think they do a great job of making it feel re invented and not too tacky. The staff is very helpful, and again...the in house made sauces! You can even buy a bottle and bring it home. I recommend parking along in the little angled parking area by Colonel Mustards, but if you can park there you can also usually find parking on the street. read more

We went here for dinner and it was awful. We waited an hour for our appetizer, which was cold. We got the bacon bomb. It was like an over salted meat hockey puck. Another hour went by before getting our dinner. Everything on our plate was so cold, dry and very bland. Our waitress forgot our drinks 3 times. However I think she was very overwhelmed being that it was very busy and seemed to be understaffed. So although service was slow, I dont think it was really her fault. Had dinner with some friends expecting an interesting dining experience and we got one. We had a large meat platter to share between 4 hungry people and overall it was good. The brisket was tender and tasty, the chicken was flavourful and slightly dry and the ribs were tasty but again slightly dry. One saving factor were the variety of sauces on the tables. Each was interesting to try but none of it memorable. We had come just before dinner and expected the food to be on point but it wasn't. We were all unhappy about our sides, the potatoes in the potato salad weren't cooked, the rice was bland, the coleslaw was so bitter we couldn't take more than a mouthful. Added to this, the service was just okay. The pacing could have been better i.e. we could have gotten utensils faster and drinks could have been replenished at the appropriate time. The only redeeming thing was dessert. My partner and I each had the lemon pie in a jar and it was pretty filling and flavourful . Next time we'll share it. We've been meaning to try this place out for a while, but are never really in this area of the city for very long. After my neurologist appointment today, which was right next door, we decided to stop in for lunch. We were dated promptly and told the lunch special, and were regularly checked on as a we overused the menu. I had the brisket sandwich and my husband had the burnt ends sandwich. His was delicious, and mine was pretty tasty as well. The brisket was falling apart, which I love, but it was a little dry. The sauces were all good. Service was great throughout our visit. Cuz that's what's keepin ya groceries on! I also liked the black bean addition but they weren't stayin on the chip! You feel me? I shared the burnt end sandwich, which was decent. Actually it was pretty delicious and probably a proper sized sandwich but because I was sharing it I thought it was a little small. The service was juuuust okay. I definitely had to flag down our server a couple of times and I feel like she warmed up to us throughout the meal (as tip time was approaching?? Who knows) in fact I feel like she sensed I was a little cheesed by her unavailability and then stepped her game up toward the end. Anyways, we had a decent meal. If I were to give Meat 5 stars, then I'd only be able to give Smokehouse 1. It wasn't "terrible", but, it was inferior in every way. The atmosphere (less inportant) was tacky and so loud you have to yell, the service (a bit more important) was slow, the food (most important) was weak. I had the pulled pork with Mac 'n cheese, and coleslaw. 1/3 of the pork was fat, 1/3 was dry and tough, the final 1/3 was moist and tender. I did not taste any smoke whatsoever. It tasted like it came from a slow cooker. I couldn't finish the coleslaw, something in there was way off. The mac 'n cheese was bland and runny (I've had way better even at Craft). We had to wait at the bar for over 30 minutes while "reserved" tables sat vacant. The bartender began by saying "It's so busy ever since we won best BBQ..." This used to be my favorite BBQ in the city. One day my buddy and I were craving fried chicken for lunch so my first thought was coming here. It was always crispy and flavorful. Always a great meal. We both decided on the Big Daddy combo, cause why not. He ordered fried chicken and bacon bombs and I ordered fried chicken and burnt ends. I guess they had made an unfortunate change to their menu. The fried chicken on both our plates was a barely seasoned soggy chicken breast. Last time I was here it was crispy full parts. The burnt ends literally looked like cubes of pot roast in gravy. The waitress said they changed the chicken about a month back. I'm not sure how any BBQ lover could not question this actually being 'southern fried chicken'. The only reason I'd even consider returning was because our server was pretty great although it's clear by the food I ordered I now know when I'm craving fried chicken I can't go there. From pulled pork to racks of ribs, there's saucy bbq'ed meat for everyone. The sides are pretty tasty - I had the mac and cheese (which was simple, creamy and everything I wanted with a pulled pork sandwich) and the Cajun potato salad (which was potato salad; it was good). They also had fries, rice and beans. Apparently the beans are delicious. It's casual - had the football game on, and blues blasting. The service is fast - we waited less than 10 mins between ordering and getting our food. If you want to get sauce on your face and your belly full, give this place a try. read more

So tried BBQ Smokehouse for the first time, now I love BBQ food in all its varieties, I was really looking forward to eating here. I had the Brisket Sandwich, first off the meat was fairly tough compared to other brisket Ive had. The bun and meat portion was tiny, and their signature sauce was forgettable. Typically brisket slow cooks anywhere from 12-16 hours, maybe they cooked over a shorter period to save time and money, I don't know. The calamari again, tiny portion too, but I wasn't going their for that. Now Is this food better than a regular bar , yes I would say. But compared to Sloppy Hogs not even close, have a brisket on a bun there and taste the difference. On top of that it was really expensive, I know BBQ is more expensive and I appreciate that, but if I'm paying top dollar it better be top quality. I will never go there again. If your looking for mediocre BBQ then yes, or food slightly above bar food then yes. read more

We were seated fairly quickly and our waitress took our drink orders right away. There were only two others tables.. A party of 2 and a party of 4. It took the waitress over 20 minutes to get our drinks as she was too busy gossiping with another employee. After catching her attention, she finally remembered about us. Despite the bad service, we decided to stay as so many people loved their food. My bf and I both got the 2 meat + 2 sides (1) bacon bomb, brisket, mac n cheese, and sweet potato mash (2) ribs, brisket, beans, sweet potato mash. Both our friends got fried chicken and waffles. Our orders took over 30 minutes this time. Brisket was bland, cold and dry. The chicken was bland. Bacon bomb was cold. Sweet potato mash literally tasted like baby food. They forgot to give syrup for the waffles. The only thing that was decent was the mac n cheese and the waffle. Although, the sauces were pretty good. The waitress never checked up on how our meal was going. We had to wave down a different waitress for our bill. When our bill came, it was brought to us by the original waitress and was very attentive when it came to paying. Surprise, surprise. Don't waste your time and money here, folks. read more

After my second time here for lunch, I've decided never to eat here again. Here's why: the pulled pork is so dry it's terrifying. I'm convinced that the cooks microwave what they didn't sell the night before. The fries are great and so is the service, but how hard is it to write the four different bbq sauces on each of the bottles at your table? There's no labels! I was told to try and colour coordinate the bottle with what was written on a side bar on the box that comes with forks and knives and even the server couldn't tell what colour our bottles were. Not a lot of smoky flavor even though I ordered the "burnt ends" for my brisket sandwitch (extra $3). I mentioned to the lack of "burnt ends" so my server and she explained that you don't actually get burnts ends if you add that to your order, they just take some extra brisket and smoke it for a little longer. Overall, I think this is a great BBQ joint that serves BBQ similar to what you would find in the southern US. The prices are very reasonable considering the portions. We'll definitely be back! We took advantage of a recent group-buy to sample the Smokehouse and we did not leave disappointed. They offer dine-in and take-out options. There is ample street parking available during dinner (124st parking is only prohibited during the morning commute it seemed) The service was good; nothing exceptional and nothing poor. We were taken care of, not forgotten, not pestered and did not have to wait forever for the bill. We ordered a variety of items, with the burnt ends sandwich being the best as it was served on a fresh bun, moist, flavourful and just plain delicious. The cajun potato salad was delicious - a spicy take on potato salad. We also had the pulled pork, which was moist and flavourful, and the bacon bomb, which was quite frankly a let down. The bacon bomb did not have much flavour and was quite bland. The homemade chips were great, and the mac and cheese was a little different and just average (not as cheesy or creamy as you would expect). There are 4 BBQ sauces to choose from, so you should be able to find one you like if you need to add a little flavour. One consistent theme was that all the meats came out at an even temperature, not hot but warm (how it should be for BBQ). They did not appear to be microwaved with the meat having varying degrees of temperature, which is something a lot of BBQ joints tend to do. Love love LOVE the Smokehouse. I've eaten at the Leduc location numerous times and this weekend I checked out the Edmonton location. As always the food was amazing. My friends and I started with chicken nachos, huge portion size, super tasty. For my meal I had the Salad with burnt ends instead of chicken-deeeelicious! I also tried the chilli-also scrumptious. The only downside was our server was very slow, super friendly and helpful-just moved at a snails pace. Ill definitely be back! read more
