They often have specials in Clipper magazine. That brings prices where they should be. Maybe not the best ever BUT pretty good IMO. I really like some of the sampler platters. Great wings. read more

This place has a great late night menu with good choices and pretty good drink prices. I have continually been disappointed by the quality of the service. It does not seem like the servers want to be there - late or not, when you are working for tips, at least pretend you care a little. read more

Tonight was my second visit at this location. Food was fast, hot, and good. Our waiter Charlie was amazing. He made sure we were happy. Even the hostess with the cool purple hair made us feel welcome. I can't wait to come back to York to visit again. If you ever go ask for Charlie. Wow!!! Had one of the best dinners. Ribs are off of the chart. Had beans and baked potato for sides. If you love ribs, you must go.

This was our first, and last, trip to Smokey Bones. We went for the 1 lb prime rib available Thursday - Sunday, after 4 pm. We were actually parked directly below their huge billboard advertising this. Imagine our surprise when we placed our order at 7 pm to find out they were out of prime rib. That's 3 hours into a weekend special. The waitress asked if we would be interested in anything else and frankly we weren't. We came for the special. So I guess we'll never know if it was good or not. It simply defies logic why a week-end special would be advertised through mailers and a HUGE billboard and not have the special available 3 hours into the offer. read more

Onion rings were great! The burger was lacking flavor and our server was uninspiring.

We have enjoyed great BBQ all over the country, and unfortunately this does not stand up. The ribs were overcooked and dry and so was the sausage. The best thing on the plate were the beans! The service was fine, very attentive. But the food left alot to be desired. We had been there several years ago and thought it was good. But after this experience we won't go back. Haven't been to Smoky Bones in awhile, so when we recieved acoupon we thought we Would give it a try. Never again. Slow, slow, slow service from an unconcerned waiter. The drinks were miserable. Iced tea so weak you could read through it and the worst mojito ever. The brisket was a joke. Tough, tasteless and thankfully, not much of it. Very sub par experience. Will not return. There are much better options for bar b que in the area. read more

I have been three times. I like the atmosphere itself and the beer was good. Otherwise the food is not great at all and the service is very so-so. The food is not fresh and my salad was so overdressed I could not taste anything. My husband's mashed potatoes tasted awful and the rub on the wings tasted gritty. The ladies bathroom smells terrible. I think three chances is enough for us. Too expensive for a less than desirable experience. read more

Went to Smokey Bones tonight with my wife for my birthday. We make it there 2 to 4 times a year. We usually get ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and so forth and find them excellently prepared. Yes I have had better of each but not often. I have always eyed the Hawaiian Ribeye but it is also one of the more expensive items on the menu at nearly $30. On this special occasion I thought I would try it. My wife decided to try something that is the same price in the slow smoked prime rib. We both got ours cooked to a medium. Both were on the medium rare side. The ribeye had very little flavor was tough and dry. Surprising for a medium to medium rare cook. My wife's prime rib also was tough and not very flavorful. We thought they both came from an old cow. So if I was basing my rating strictly on this meal it would be a 1.5 to 2 star. Knowing what they are capable of with other meats it raised it to a 3 star. The service was good but not out of the ordinary. The place is bright and clean. Our table was wobbly that trying to saw through my steak amplified how tough it was. I did get a free birthday dessert, bag of warm donuts with chocolate and raspberry sauce while my wife got the fried krispy cookies which she loved. read more

The ribs were great as usual and our server, Amanda F. was cordial and excellent as she has been for 3 years of coming back to this location for dinner. First time eating here with family and was disappointed. Kids ordered Lemonade but got basically water. Did not taste like lemonade. Had server remove and give them Sprite instead. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and couldn't believe how small the sandwich was and it didn't even come with Buffalo sauce on it. I had to ask for it. $12 for a sandwich that small is unbelievable. The portions are very small for the prices. Bill was almost $100 for the entire meal and we left still hungry. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because at least the server was nice. Won't eat here again. read more

Just all-around awful. Walked in and it was super-crowded to the point where people were bumping into you every 5 seconds. Waited 45 minutes after being told there was a 20-minute wait for some food that was lousy at best. The orders were messed up. The service was awful so we missed the movie we were trying to get to afterwards. When we told the waitress to have a good night she said "I'll try." Um, ok? On march 18th we took a party of nine to the york smokey bones , the service was very slow and unassertive, when the food finely came my ribs were so over cooked that they were impossible to eat . since i was so hungry i attempted to eat the ribs anyway ,,,Big Mistake,,, after chewing my leather like bibs for what seemed to be five min. or more i tried to swallow and the food became lodged in my throat . thank god that one of our party knew the Heimlich maneuver. after the near death experience and the scene that it caused i was applaud at the fact that not one person from the staff as much as even ask me if i was ok!!!!! On top of that i was charged the full amount of my bill ,,,not to mention the 18 percent tip that was automatically added as well . all that being said i think this was my worst dining experience ever . can someone tell me how to get in touch with their corporation???? What a poor excuse for a BBQ place! For a while that was really all we had so you had to suck it up. Since Mission BBQ and a few others have shown up, I can't see this hole staying much longer. BBQ sauce is aweful, portions were meager. No flavor to anything. Just didn't even seem like anyone cared what they were making. Nothing like getting a rack of ribs where there was more rib then meat. Shameful! read more

Let me start this with I have visited this place many times over the years. Recently, I have not gone as often, and was excited to return. I went this evening and WOW, compared to how it used to be, it (for lack of better words) SUCKED. I ordered a sandwich, and since I have a dairy allergy, asked for no cheese. (simple request right?) The sandwich came out with no cheese, just cheese residue. It was obvious that it was cooked with cheese, and the cook just ripped it off, and there was cheese everywhere. It would have only taken the cook 3 minutes to just retoast the bun. I was already irritated. I sent it back, which I know nobody likes to do. The waitress returned with another sandwich. I opened it up, and there was now shredded cheese all over the sandwich. (not just one or two accidently mixed in, it looked like they purposely put a clump on top of the sandwich) I, obviously, lost my appitite. They did bring me a third one, which I obviously refused to even look at, let alone eat. In my mind, the cook was lazy and didn't care in the first place, the second time, I don't even know what he was thinking. If someone sent something back because it wasn't supposed to have cheese on it, I would make sure it didn't the second time. If they cut corners like this in the kitchen, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. read more

I an very disappointed with the service provided last time I was there. We had just ordered our drinks waiting for our food when we spotted a SNAKE going across the window right above our booth where we were sitting!!! Me and my kids are very terrified of snakes so my husband has went to tell a waitresses and they were all just laughing like it was some kind of joke. Someone came over to remove it and then released right back outside on the property. Nobody from management or anyone had come over to apologize for anything. I think that is very bad management! Was visiting the area for a funeral, and decided to go out for some BBQ and Drinks......upon arrival Casey, our server, let us know that she was going to take EXCELLENT care of us - and she did just that!!!! Well, I was looking forward to trying this place after a rave review from an acquaintance. And, I was very disappointed. I had the hand-pulled pork and baked beans. I have had MUCH better at the Texas Roadhouse in Lancaster. The person who recommended this restaurant also said the corn bread was incredible - well, it is okay, but you have to pay for it. The atmosphere and food were less than original, and the service less than memorable. All said, I certainly won't make the 45 minute trip to this place again! read more

I gave this place a 3-star review due to multiple reasons. The brisket isn't served until after 4 on a daily basis, which was something my fiancé and I were looking forward to. The smoked wings were okay, extremely dry and tasted more like chicken nuggets, so nothing special. The mac and cheese was also okay. The baked beans were about one of the best things we ordered. My fiancé said they were really good. It's quite sad that a side dish outshines most of their main dishes. I ordered a side of broccoli and said to make them closer to mushy, rather than straight from the refrigerator and steamed for a couple minutes till warm. They came out exactly how I wanted and there was an awesome twist for seasoning on them. I also ordered the Baby Back Ribs. They weren't what I was expecting. The rub or BBQ glaze had too much chili powder in it and it was extremely over powering. It really took away from the taste of the meat. He got the St. Louis Ribs and said they were fantastic. They're probably the only reason why he'd want to come back. But paying $7 for a 22 oz beer makes him think twice. read more

My husband and I attempted to eat here. The hostess was hesitant to seat us. Her excuse was she wanted to wait for the party in front of us to at least get their drinks before she could seat us. 5 minutes later she decided to seat us. This was at 3pm and the restaurant was almost empty. We waited almost 10 more minutes before our server acknowledged us and said 'be right with you.' This gave us time to look at their menu and see how pricy they are. A burger is $11 and up. Won't be back. read more

We used to love coming here, but it's gone downhill for over a year now. Food, service, and wait times used to all be what you'd expect from a place like this, and always made it feel like you weren't at "just another chain". Food is still decent (most of the time), service is inconsistent and seems like they're going through rounds of new people every few months, but wait time for food is long, long, long. We decided to give it one more try today after about 6 months of avoiding, and don't think we'll be back...too many other great choices in York. read more

Took 2 friends for their birthday lunch at noon on 4/26/17. It was not busy. First we sat at a booth that smelled like urine. Asked to be moved. Service was very slow. Food came and was cold - only fries were hot - returned hard pocket with dried up pulled pork to be warmed. came back - still pork dry. One person kept a cold grilled chicken sandwich but did not like. Asked for coffee - pot had been broke - waiting for new pot - was not working properly for a while. There sure were enough stores near where one could have been purchased that day. Don't believe it was waitress fault - still left good tip. but her service could have been better. This was one friend's first visit to a Smokey Bones - probably her last, mine too. No wonder so many restaurants close today. Poor management. read more

A friend and I stopped in for dinner. I used to go there often but this was my first visit in about 2 years. I was not impressed, the menu seemed to have barely changed but prices have significantly increased I'm the type who likes specials..food or happy hour, especially mid week around 5pm...there were none. The food was nothing impressive, overcooked and dry, the service was good and after expressing my feelings, someone did stop by our table to hear about our concerns and to offer some compensation. We use to come here a couple times a week. The food was great and the servers were friendly, that has changed. Last night we decided to give them a shot after not eating there for months. Host was friendly and we were sat right away. After 7 minutes our server came over and said she will be right over, she was busy so we understood. When she came back we were all set to order. Drinks came out missing one of the drinks, waitress didn't even acknowledge the missing drink, just walked away. When the food came out I was given the wrong burger, the waitress blamed the kitchen. 10 minutes later comes my burger. I ordered it mid rare it was well done. I had to leave the table to find my server who argued with me that it was mid rare, the meat was all brown. Another 15 minutes go by and I finally got my food that I ordered. from the time we were sat still the time I got my food was an hour and 10 mins. The rest of my party had already finished eating and we're ready to go when I got my food, again the serve blamed the kitchen. Then the bill came, nothing was taken off and never was there a manager at our table. We don't plan on going back anytime soon. read more
