When you find a special place like Smokey Ridge Ranch you have a dilemma - do I keep this gem to myself or do I tell the world and fear that it will be overcrowded like the other farms around here? While going to a couple of farms to walk around and get apple pie I was fried way too many people and way too hot. Driving home I realized that I didn't buy a single apple! Randomly saw this farm and saw that it wasn't swarming with people (thank god!). This is a very cute/small location with apples to pick AND chestnuts! Never picked chestnuts before, but this was such a fun experience and the staff were very friendly. Will come back!

The weather when we visited was great. Had a neat wine tasting experience at the backyard. They have free tasting of jam, no double dipping please! They have $10 of two options for wine tasting. Wine bottle costs $15-28 for a 750ml bottle. Two portable toilets available. Chestnut picking available too. Staffs were friendly and accommodating.

I went today with my husband and baby girl. We picked chestnut and bought a bag of Fuji apples. Even though it was the beginning of the season, we picked almost 2pound of chestnut (the cost is 8$ per pound). It was fun!! At the farm they have wine and cider tasting, but unfortunately no food. We'll come back next year for other chestnuts

If you love chestnuts this is the farm for you. It's small but has plenty of beautiful mature chestnut trees. We had a great time gathering our own chestnuts & they were delicious!! Plenty of parking & friendly staff. They also offer wine tasting & apple picking as well.

This place was sooo cute! We got the 2 different wine flights! My two faves were the Sangiovese and the late harvest. They were sweeter in taste! There's also a cute area outside to take fall pics in between all the beautiful trees! Would def recommend!

Although it was too late in the season for u-pick apples, they still had delicious apples to purchase without the work. The staff were very welcoming. There was a small food stand, Sierra Rizing, that had the best apple grilled cheese. Plenty of tables with views that we stayed a while.

It is a small place with wine tasting, apples, jams, etc. The unique aspects are 1) nice place for picnic and 2) exceptional service.

We would order it again in a heartbeat! The strawberry pie tasted like it was just strawberry jam as the filling and we didn't really like it much. Genuinely thought it was going to be all hype - it's not! Share the walking apple pie between 2-4…read morepeople, it's more than enough! Got there at 4pm, they closed at 5pm that day. Only waited about 5 minutes until we ordered! Not sure why it's called a "walking apple pie" since you could really walk with any pie, sliced or whole. The crust on this was ever so slightly flaky while still having a good amount of doughiness that made it soft and enjoyable to eat. It wasn't too thick either which is what I assumed it would be! There is also an insane amount of apple inside, sliced on the thinner side but not overcooked at all. NOT skimpy, good cinnamon flavor and VERY delicious! I'm not even a fan of apple pie, so I was shocked I actually liked it! The vanilla ice cream on top definitely made the entire thing even more enjoyable--if I were to get this again I'd make sure to get an extra scoop. The contrast between the piping hot apple pie and the cold ice cream was so addicting and sweet in the best way. We also got the pumpkin cheesecake. I'd pass on this. Didn't have much of a pumpkin flavor and I felt like the cheesecake was lacking overall. The graham cracker crust is buttery and soft which I appreciated, and they top the cheesecake with what tasted like a sugar crumble on top which I also liked. Overall the cheesecake was creamy and smooth but nothing special. I wouldn't get this again, simply for the fact that if you're labeling something as "pumpkin cheesecake" and the first word is pumpkin, I want to be punched in the face with pumpkin flavor, however my friend did enjoy it because he loves cheesecake. Service was great, the views were phenomenal. They also have real bathrooms here. Definitely stop by!

So, we rented the fishing rod for $12 but we didn't catch anything (not sure if there're any fish in the pond) - it was fun though. - Apple fritter walnut ($7): the fritter was good & cinnamony. It has lots of apple pieces and was covered with walnuts. It wasn't too sweet which was my liking. - Donut crumb ($2): the donut was good and soft. The crumb gave crunchy texture on the surface of the donut. - Dutch apple pie slice ($6): was ok. There were packed with apple pieces, very cinnamony and not too sweet. However, the crumb on top of the pie (that makes it 'Dutch') was disappointing - it was soggy and clumpy. - Sour cream berry pie ($6): delicious! The sour cream intensified the berry flavor and it was super good!

If you go on a random Wednesday you took off specifically for your chef friend on her day off so you could come get her necklace fixed by Wave Gods? We nearly had the place to ourselves compared to usual! Neither of us actually remembered which orchard Wave Gods posts up shop at, but we weren't worried. We knew we would know it by sight, and we did! Wave Gods is a beautifully handcrafted jeweler. They're local, fair trade, high quality, fairly priced, and super friendly people. I found a lovely amethyst ring for just $30. And I can trust that it's going to last a very long time if I don't lose it. Wave Gods fixed Jenna's necklace in no time at all, did a cleanse on it to expel all the nasty aura ex bf essences, and she traded one of the beads he made her pick for one of her own choosing. You can have custom pieces done, be they rings, engagement rings, bracelets, earrings or necklaces. Super amazing shop. Check them out! Another excellent reason to stop by here is to munch on a fresh, hot, crunchy, sticky apple fritter. Good lord almighty I hadn't had one in several years but had been having a hankering. The fritter I ordered was everything. I would have wolfed the whole thing down right there but my tummy is what it is so I saved half for later. Delicious heavenly goodness. The duck pond is another fun feature where you can often watch dogs and their humans as well as ducks and geese of all kinds. I remember coming here with my grandparents when I was really little, and appreciate that it still looks the same as it ever did. Maybe not as immense as it seemed to kid me though. Cozy good times and food times at High Hill ranch. Most of what you come up to apple hill for you can find here, plus more craft tents than other orchards have. You may have to use a port o pot. It'll be fine. Vegan Corner: the Fudge Factory has vegan pies ! And gluten free for anyone looking.

The entire place has a cute, farm-style feel--very country, open, and spacious. They offer outdoor seating as well as beautiful long, communal wooden tables inside. There's a small open kitchen where you can watch the staff preparing the food, and the restrooms were clean and surprisingly spacious. They also carry local donuts, which were absolutely worth trying. We had the apple fritter, which was soft and delicious with the perfect crispy exterior. Our favorite was the almond bar--it was delicate, flaky, buttery, and so good. We also tried a cookie that was equally delicious. For lunch, we ordered the turkey sandwich, which was piled high with turkey and crisp vegetables, the bourbon bacon jam toast with melted brie, and a classic BLT. We kept it simple with water, which is available as self-serve. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoor space. They have cornhole and bocce available to play around the property, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly kind, and they also have a small market area featuring drinks, local products, and other items for sale. The entire place is quaint and adorable, both inside and out. I highly recommend Blue Barn Provisions for lunch or brunch if you're in the Pollock Pines area! :) dog friendly.

September 20, 2025 - Placerville, CA…read more We came for the handblown glass pumpkin patch and the day's festivities, which were advertised to include free popcorn and live glassblowing demonstrations. Wanting to beat the crowds, we arrived a little before 10 a.m. and found parking quickly after discovering an additional parking lot. I've started a tradition of picking up one glass pumpkin each year, but this time I left with two--thanks to my husband's suggestion. The selection of pumpkins was beautiful, as always. We didn't see the popcorn or the glassblowing demos, though in fairness we may have been too early. Instead, we tried the Pineapple Ginger Hard Cider, which was delicious. Since we didn't want a full pour, we asked about a smaller size. The server showed us a half-glass, which was perfect, but we later realized we'd been charged for a full drink anyway. By the time we left around 10:30, cars were lined up down the road waiting to get into the lot. Parking definitely seemed limited for such a popular event. Judging from the lines outside other Apple Hill venues as well, my advice is to avoid weekends if you can--or at least plan to arrive early.
