One of the bartenders (i believe her name is britney) was extremely rude and offered minimal service. It didn't help that she was taking shots with other customers all night while many people were waiting to be served. The other bartender Eddy was great, I quickly learned to stick to his section of the bar. The bathrooms and floors are absolutely disgusting and based off that I would not recommend getting and drink that requires a glass, stick to canned beverages. Went here with a friend who has been frequenting this bar for years. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't very busy. Not sure if it's because of Covid or not. It's a classic dive bar with a jukebox, old wood flooring, dark lighting, darts, and a foosball table. They have a decent selection of beers and liquors. Sitting at the bar were locals who all seemed to know each other, including my friend, which was pretty cool. Reminded me of an episode of Cheers! We played some darts, listened to some songs and then headed out. It was a fun time, I'm sure it would've been a lot more fun if there had been a larger crowd to interact with. read more

Snappers is my jam. It's one of the few places I consider when going out to meet friends and have a good time in Kingston. Typically, it's a younger crowd with lots of 20-somethings (after 9) with all types of people. The jukebox has lots of older rock and punk to choose from and sometimes there's a live band on Saturdays. Beers - about 15 - 20 different types in bottles, and 5 or so on tap. All beers are 3.75, with Pabst being 2.25. Shots - 4 dollars to the best of my knowledge. Mixed drinks - usually around 5 to 7 dollars depending on the cost of materials. Snappers is keen on the cost accounting method. Megatouch - yes. Each game is the standard 25 cents and most of the high scores are from Farge, OldBrain, Reginald, RonPation, Wow, Dickfish, and several others. Pinball - yes. I believe it's named 'Pub Champion'. Foosball - yes. Not the best table in the world, but it does the job. Bowling Video Game - yes. Never played it because I'm afraid of 7-10 splits. Cigarette Machine - yes. 6 bucks a pack. read more

Last time I went to Snapper's it was like someone had taken a little bit of everything Kingston has to offer, threw it into a blender and hit puree. Hipsters, frat boys, townies, prep kids, off-duty cops, the occasional local celebrity, etc all call this place their local bar and manage to co-exist peacefully. That's part of Kingston's charm though, and Snapper's provides it's denizens with a perfect, albeit a bit dingy, watering hole and venue for local bands and artists. read more

So many bars today have gone the route of heartless, soulless corporate enterprises. Not so with the rustic Kingston watering hole, Snapper McGees. From warn, time-worthy hardwood floors, to the faded walnut bar counter, McGee is a timeless establishment. Complete with an old school juke box, classic decor and vintage signage, McGees fits into another time when sophistication was for country club blue bloods, and humble, pleasant bars were for everyone else. Customer service is top notch. On our visit, the bartender greeted us at the door and invited us inside. She was quick to provide us service with a smile. On tap were a variety of American classics including Budweiser, Michelob and Coors Light. I opted for a can of one of my favorites, Pabst Blue Ribbon, which was a surprising value of only $2.75. Unlike more touristy places in the area, I was provided the beer in an genuine aluminum can. This was a refreshing change from $6 dollar PBR at the elitist establishments around the corner, that come with a glass. Who really drinks PBR out of a glass anyway? Since we were at McGees in the mid-afternoon, the crowd was rather small, but quant. Everyone at McGee seemed to know one another and was pleasant. Some guests were engaged in a round of pool while others tossed darts at the boards. McGees is a true treasure in the city of Kingston and will surely please anyone who frequents this fine, enduring, local establishment. read more

An awesome, AWESOME bar in Kingston! When I'm in the mood for a beer but don't want to spend a ton of money, I come here. It's become something of a weekend hotspot for me and my friends. The highlight is usually Happy Hour from 10-11pm when you get $1 drafts. Oh boy! They have a great selection of beer on tap as well as bottles and cans, and they make excellent mixed drinks. I had a pretty amazing gin and tonic that I would like to have again... Another really awesome thing about this place is the jukebox. Billy Joel and Tom Waits played back to back? Yes! Sometimes it's just nice to drink a beer and listen to great music. read more

It's a real Rock and Roll/Punk Rock, kind of place. After a long time it's still ultimately the primary base of the underground/punk/rock and roll/rockabilly scene in the area. It's like the Kingston CBGB. Dive bar w/ underground rock bands. The bands that play are almost always worth it and the door is always $5 for band nights so you're not risking much to check out someone new. The drink prices and selection are what you'd reasonably expect. Good Jukebox, Fussball table, Pinball, Darts. They also do a pretty good job of keeping out violent and obnoxious people. read more

First things first... I hate the general public, particularly d-bags from Brooklyn who come to Kingston because they're stupid. Snapper's makes it easy for people like me to come in and judge people like you. There's always a diverse crew. Their drinks are strong, and their bartenders are always easy on the eyes. Matt the Identification Verification Specialist is excessively thorough, and while his face says "Kill me now", his heart says "Welcome to my humble abode". While I'm not sure the bowling shoes adorning the walls have been properly sanitized, it's a good place to come mourn your most recent breakup, celebrate any occasion or just come get punched in the face because you probably deserved it. They also serve generic potato chips if you need a nice treat to wash down shots of Fire Eater. I love Snapper's, and Snapper's loves me...but they pretend they don't.
