When I returned four days later I was told that the original could not be found and there was no record of it even being scanned. Several more visits failed to produce it and I was eventually telephoned by the manager who told me that it may have been sent to another branch to be worked on there. He phoned me back today to tell that they are unable to locate it and to offer me some unspecified 'Christmas gift' by way of compensation. No amount of compensation can come any way near to the tremendous sentimental value that my wife placed on this irreplaceable photo of her brother. Needless to say she is absolutely heartbroken about this and neither of us are able to comprehend how Snappy Snaps can put a photo into a numbered envelope and then simply lose it without trace.

I think this is partly due to the lack of user-friendliness and quality of home photo printing (surely a business opportunity there) but also these shops have been very good at reinventing themselves. These days, you can still get the basic photo printing service and the photo machines there accept photos on almost any electronic media. Besides paper, they also print onto hats, t-shirts, keyrings, mugs and other gift items. I think they're missing a slight trick in not allowing customers to play with the images/backgrounds on screen before printing - a cinch with modern computing packages. I've also used them for converting some older videos onto DVD, which is a useful service. Having them now in digital format will hopefully fullproof them for awhile at least. My sister also popped in here on Sunday to go some photos done for a visa. The service was fast and we walked out with the 4 photos and images burnt onto disc for £7. Snappy Snaps still meet a need in this digital age and they did provide a snappy service.

It's not a first choice as all Snappy Snaps are overpriced, but I needed a handful of photos printed for an event and discovered that their 1hour or 30 minute services are double the cost of their Kodak printer machine. Yes, the quality is higher, but at over £1 per print? NO. I only ended up here as the instant photo machines at no less than 3 Boots locations couldn't read my memory stick. Thankfully, the machine here worked. I paid through the nose, but needs must!

I had my photo taken for a China visa, the face was not centrally placed and the photo did not…read moreload. I returned and explained the problem. I was asked to pay if I wanted to have the photo retaken !!!...I showed the awful photo in my VISA print out and showed my friend's VISA print out, which went through without any problems, they still, arrogantly, refused to see the how bad was my photo! I was utterly amazed! instead of apologising for the inconvenience caused to me!! delaying my VISA application and causing me returning to the shop. Eventually they decided to refund...I explained that I was not there to have the money back but to have taken a set of photos that could have been suitable...the man felt insulted, being told how to do his job! and refused to retake the photo! I could not believe my ear and my eyes! I had taken the photo in Snappy Snaps in Wandsworth and I had no problems.
