These guys make amazing sandwiches...when they make them. Though a great sammish is not a balance for terrible customer consideration. They don't really have the forward thinking to prioritize phone orders from walk in customers. Telling a person right in front of them they need to make 50 samishes for a phone in order before they can get around to making my single sammish without waiting 30min is really a failure of customer service. Waiting 90min..is also a failure for delivery. If you can't handle the volume of your orders..maybe buy another toaster and hire another samish maker..or your problem will solve itself.. like now.. They make great sandwiches but on a weekday, during the lunch hour, the wait times can be ridiculous! Today it took 45 minutes from placing my order until it was ready. (I was told to expect a 30 minute wait when i placed my online order.) This problem is not unusual nor is it predictable. My order could have been ready in 10 minutes and sat for 20 minutes until I showed up to pick it up. The staff is working as fast as they can, but they don't have the capacity to handle the volume. Large phone and online orders kill them. Add to the wait time problem, the nightmare parking situation and it can make for a very unpleasant experience. I give up. I used to frequent this location on a regular basis. For a few weeks after the Covid mandates were in place, their menu was very limited (more so than other Snarf's locations). When they did go back to a more complete menu, I used their mobile app to get two chicken rotisserie sandwiches. Both were prepared with no cheese, no oil, and no seasoning. Very dry and lacking in flavor, to say the least. Surprisingly poor "quality control." I commented on the Splickit site, but management didn't reply or care. My friend told me this place was a Boulder favorite so I ordered us a couple of toasted sandwiches - Italian and Snarf's Supreme, a pizza-like sub. I got 7" sandwiches on white bread. I only ate half of the Snarf's Supreme and was full - I loved the addition of hot peppers and it was packed with meat and cheese! I thinks its required to be a total burnout to work here... Last time I went it took them 2 mistakes to get my friend's sandwich right. Between the 1st try and the second try, after we notified them of the mistake, nothing happened. Here is what went down: She returned the wrong sandwich and advised them of the mistake. They said they'd make another one. The sandwich station was promptly abandoned, all the workers disappeared , then, about 15 minutes later they all reappeared through the back door and put on "Dark Side of the Moon" at top volume, and began chugging soda out of the fountain. If you were to eff up a sandwich order, for instance, putting on ingredients that were not requested and the customer is effing allergic to and sent her to the doctor, you should be sued! Parking quality - Typical for Boulder. Too many people in too small a place, however, the biggest problem was the short, little, balding man in the Freudianly large white pick-up truck who was backing into a handicapped parking space. He refused to put his cell phone down while he maneuvered his vehicle into the space, then proceeded to get out and unload some trash cans or something. We then saw him inside, behind the counter, retrieving receipts or papers or something in large envelopes. We assumed he was someone really important and was therefore allowed to act like a total d-bag. Customer service - Perhaps when the girls/women behind the counter stop being bitter, tired, vegan, or menstrual, they can all go on a happy little company outing to learn some customer service skills. Food quality - This establishment's ONLY saving grace is the bread. Pass on the gazpacho, however, which was nothing more than blended salsa with extra onions. Bleck!!! read more

Wish this review was better because I love their sandwiches but the last 2 times I've been in the service has been horrendous. I ordered using the app, was given a pick up time, and then after waiting 10 minutes longer than my pick up time I inquired. I was told that their system has been "finicky" and not always sending orders through. While it's convenient that my payment was collected but my order wasn't processed, my real complaint isn't about failing technology. My frustration was about the rudeness of the servers in not apologizing, taking yet another 15 minutes to make my sandwich, and not addressing the problem. If you know your system isn't working accurately why not post a sign indicating that pick up customers might need to inquire about their orders? Snarf's makes THE BEST vegetarian sandwiches. Without a doubt, my favorite sandwich of all time. I'm new to this particular location, but I used to frequent their Capital Hill shop. This one is HUGE. At first I was confused as to why they had so much seating, but then I remember how good their sandwiches are and it all made sense. The people who work here and make the best sandwiches I've ever tasted are all super amazing too. They're always so nice. I wish I knew one of them in real life so I could learn their secrets. As far as recommendations go, I'd say try the Vegetarian with everything. It's amazing. In fact, order a 12 inch and take some home because I promise you'll want more later. Snarf's food is amazing but their service is appalling. Today (Sunday at 12:30) there was one person running the register and 6 employees making food. The line to order was to the door (I counted 10 people waiting to place an order) so why not put someone on the second register? We waited 15 min to place our order. Then even with the 6 employees dedicated to making food it took another 25 min to get my sandwich. To top it off, I watched as one employee who was making food repeatedly eat and drink over the food he was making. Not polite eating either. Open mouth, crumb dropping eating. It was disgusting. Sadly all of this is not a one time occurrence. Last week during a work day my husband stopped in to grab lunch. He was the first one in line as they unlocked the doors. What happened? The slew of employees made a to-go order while about 8 people in the store waited for their food. My husband waited about 30 min for his food that day too. This is all so sad because even though the food rocks, there is no reason you should wait 20-30 min for a sandwich with so many employees waiting. Location at 55th and Conestoga: Todays experience was not the best. I go in an order and while I am waiting, the prep cook (middle aged mexican guy) is yelling at the other two girls about a Cambro of tomatoes that has been set aside. The girls inform him that they are not using the tomatoes because they have been accidentally dropped on the floor. The guy is totally angry that they have wasted so many tomatoes (the equivalent of about 6-8 tomatoes) and is trying to argue that they use them. The girls thankfully stand up against such a disgusting proposition and refuse to let him use them. This is NOT what a customer wants to experience when they are waiting for their food. A.) yelling at each other in front of the house and B.) about whether to use food that fell on the floor or not. ALSO what is this prep cook using when they aren't looking?? Snarf's is a favorite of Boulder, or so everyone tells me. I've been here a few times, and since I'm a vegetarian I suppose my view will be different than most people's; the Snarf vegetarian selection is somewhat minimal, consisting of three sandwiches. Still, these they do pretty well. The 5 inch is $5, 7 inch one is $6, while the 12 inch was $9...so the 7 is solid. I got the vegetarian today, and what Snarf excels in is their bread. I personally like Half Fast on the hill better, but hands down the bread here is better: toasted correctly. This location on Arapahoe I like better, since it has parking and has some nicely colored walls...minus the ceiling which is right out of a mechanic shop. Seriously guys! Clean the ceiling! So thats about it: good sandwiches with ok pricing. The selection is minimal compared to Half Fast however, so I put this as my 2nd string. read more

The menu and ingredients are good indeed, but the overall experience at Snarf's leaves a lot to be desired. I've been here 4 times, and *never* have they gotten my order right. I'm not ordering anything crazy, just a sandwich with a couple things removed, and they write it down correctly, but then they just make the standard sandwich. Around lunchtime (like after 11:45am), you better not be in a hurry. There's a long line and it moves SLOW. Even ordering at 11:30am you'll probably wait a long while for your food. I've waited 20+ minutes. There's no ambience to speak of, parking is bad... overall, simply not worth it. That's a pity, too, because Snarf's *could* be great. Oh Snarf's! I admit, I took a long time figuring out that "Snarf", meant, well Snarf. Think about it. Snarf's provides the solution for that craving, the one where you want a crunchy bready outside, stuffed with peppers, onions, avocado, feta cheese, sprouts, lettuce and provolone. Oh did I mention it's hot too?! Well, the above sandwich may be my favorite, but you can't go wrong with a hot toasty sub. With about 20 different combos of sandwiches, there is sure to be something for everyone. They also offer salads for the healthier minded, but really, who orders a salad when they came for hot crispy bread! Service can be a bit slow-hence the four star rating. It gets crowded at lunch, so go early or late. A little known secret-yes I am letting the world of Yelp in. Call ahead and your sandwich will be hot and ready when you get there. I see mentions of milkshakes in other reviews...I know they exist, but am ignoring them. I don't need another diet downfall. I believe that as long as I never ever try one, I can pretend that Snarf's just doesn't have them. read more

I was told that this was a fabulous sandwich place and indeed it is!! I ordered the Italian sandwich with only certain select toppings (I think mayo, tomatoes, lettuce and something else) and it was DELICIOUS!! The bread is I think what really takes it over the top. You can't have a good sandwich without good bread! It seemed to be freshly baked...a french style white roll. YUM. They also have Boulder chips which I love :). The place was casual and cute, you order up at the counter and have the option to sit at booths or tables. No frills, no fuss, just plain ole good sandwiches. Snarfs is a nice place to pick up a sub. I've eaten in many Snarf's over the years, both in Boulder as well as in Denver. I like the Snarfs sandwich, they have some good designs and combos on the menu.h This Snarfs is probably the worst, in my experience. It's always dirty, with the floor grimy and the tables covered with crumbs and crud. The staff is friendly enough, but they don't seem in any big hurry. The last time I kept my change and got a snide comment. Sorry, but I needed the change for parking, and the service didn't leave me wanting to pass the wealth on. Worst. Service. EVER. Ok, I agree that Snarf's has delicious food... WHEN you can get it, or alternatively, get it right. The problem is in their terrible, horrible, no-good, Vogon-poetry-bad service. And considering this is Boulder, the fact that their service stands out as memorably awful? That should make you run screaming right there, because Boulder has by far the lowest standards for restaurant service of anywhere I've lived (and I've lived pretty much everywhere). This makes me incredibly sad because their food is really excellent, and had they not completely fallen down on the service end, I would still be using them not only for my own lunches, but as a business customer for my department at work. From a casual walk-in perspective, don't even bother going between oh, say 11:30 AM and 2PM because you will stand in line for ages, only to potentially get A) the wrong thing entirely or B) something left off or included that you specifically requested not be. On several occasions I was served a salad with large chunks of sand in it (I have a slightly chipped tooth from one instance). The salad wasn't BAD, per se - it just never occurred to the staff that they might want to, idk, rinse out their greens a bit before prepping them? Just a thought. On two separate occasions I've called ahead for a smallish (6 or so) lunch order for my department, and not only have they FORGOTTEN TO EVEN MAKE IT BOTH TIMES but once they failed to take the credit card info I gave them, so that when my colleague arrived to pick it up, they were forced not only to wait forever for the order to be made, but also to pay for it with their own personal card. Which, whatever, expense report, but that's just rude. It's like their employees spend every free waking moment doing bong rips in the walk-in between orders. Oh, wait... yeah. I'm a slow learner, obviously, judging by the multiple sandy-salads experience. And I am incredibly forgiving (I worked in food service for years), and I am used to receiving mediocre-to-poor service in Boulder, so my expectations are adjusted accordingly. But Snarf's really takes terrible, horrible, very bad service and raises it to a proverbial art form. read more

Many moons ago, I worked very close to Snarf's for a couple weeks and made Snarf's my primary lunch stop. This was before Yelp and the invention of the Internet by a very famous vice president. (allegedly) Recently, the mrs. and I stopped in for a quick bite on the way to Estes Park. Snarf's is quite a tasty sandwhich joint. The Italian with everything is particularly good. I love the saltiness of the deli meats, the bread is quite good, the service is very Boulder, and the atmosphere is funky. Overall, if I lived closer, I'd make this a regular stop for sure. Happy to say Snarf's really rocked on a revisit last night! Some adorably friendly people I know were going there to get a bite to eat and I decided to give it another try. The place was clean, the workers seriously focused on making good sandwiches, the ingredients excellent as usual, and all the details on my sandwich were correct. What a pleasant difference compared to the last time I ate here, when the employees seemed ...stoned....and somewhat lethargic. Last night was not like that at all. Recently, I'd placed a large order for delivery to my office by fax, and failed to put the suite number on the page. I called to confirm receipt, and gave the suite number; the person I talked to on the phone was painfully awkward to the point that we had a hard time communicating. Come delivery, the same awkward guy took a minute and a half to count my money (it was a big order, so no worries) and SCOLD me for not putting my suite number and phone number (must have been cut off by the fax, because it was there). Specifically, he said that it was good that I called because I hadn't put the suite number down on the form, or my phone number, and next time I need to put the suite number and my phone number on the fax form. My coworkers and I laughed it off, because it was so weird how he kept beating this dead horse, but what the hell?! Customer service, guy. Come on. Don't reprimand your customers about a minor mistake after they overtip you. All that said, the food is always great. Good bread, lots of options, tasty pepper mix. Just a shame that customer service is such a low priority (for this location at least, I can't speak to the others). read more
