I met Kathleen when she was doing LKN Sports photography for the sports and club teams. My son played lacrosse on the same team her son did and it eventually dawned on me that this nice mom on the team was producing some pretty stellar shots of my son and everyone else's sons. I cherish the pictures she shared with me, catching moments in the game that I sometimes missed. As she moved on to senior photography I marveled at the variety of locations and her ability to capture her subjects in places and with props that reflected their passions. Our school had a mandated senior photographer otherwise I would have chosen Kathleen for our senior photos. During the Covid shutdown she brought The Front Porch Project to Mooresville. It was an opportunity to support a worthy charity, Feed NC and also a chance to capture this difficult and scary time, with our families, on our own front porches. I cherish these photos the same way I cherish my lacrosse photos from 10 years earlier. Not only did Maryam provide everything I needed for the shoot (clothes, props, snacks, coffee, water) but she gave clear and productive direction. My toddler was present for the maternity shoot and I was so nervous that our pictures with him wouldn't turn out well because he was so impatient and restless, but somehow Maryam worked her magic and captured the most beautiful images. I did my newborn shoot just 2 weeks postpartum, on the inside I felt so uncomfortable having just given birth.
