Parking is ample but I don't think the staff is trained to handle non Asian customers. They gave me a drink that was over sweet despite request to reduce sugar level. When I went forward to talk to the manager he had a very confrontational attitude and had a language barrier. He asked "what do you want" in a very rude tone. Prices are reasonable but they nickle and dime you for every single topping including boba. If you charge by the scoop make it consistent so that the scoop on Monday isn't different from the one on Tuesday. Came here on a Sunday night, and it was packed! Luckily we got the last table open. We were seated right when we walked in, so no issues there. It's pretty much a full-service dessert restaurant, but they don't really check up on you. If you need anything, you'll just have to get their attention. Taro snow: We ordered this with condensed milk, mangos and mochi. People are right about the toppings being minimal. Since this is usually a dessert to share, you'd expect a little extra than just one spoonful of mochi. My friends enjoyed the taste of the taro snow. Honey toast: I ordered the single piece of honey toast just to taste. It's basically a thick piece of toast drenched in honey. It tastes alright. I'd rather spring for the big one that's $12 and share with someone since it comes with ice cream, fruits and whipped cream. Milk green tea- I liked this. It has a strong green tea taste. I always want to try the new stuff around here and this plaza is booming with new businesses. Snowflake is a short walk from the new Thai Pad and CoCo Sweets restaurant. It's located in the same shopping plaza as Great Wall on the side where IHOP is off of Pleasant Hill road next to the new 89 Hot Pot restaurant. SHAVED ICE: Mango Shaved Ice with Condensed Milk and 2 Choices of Toppings $6ish My friend had ordered this when we visited and chose mango and strawberry fruit for the 2 toppings that came with it. There are TONS of choices of toppings for the shaved ice however it is 50 cents each. The server said that it already comes with 2 toppings and the condensed milk is free, so maybe they're just testing the waters at this point. The shaved ice was amazing. I really like it. It's much richer and "creamier" compared to the shaved ice at Suno's. I personally think this shaved ice will make Suno's run for their money, honestly. Anyways, definitely delicious for the price you're paying for and there is such a vast selection of flavors. The size is easily shareable with 4 other people because we could barely finish it. NEW JENGA HONEY BREAD: $12.95 Our group ordered the very popular and intriguing Jenga Honey Bread (Which is found in back of the menu). It is basically toasted bread, cut into Jenga pieces and stacked on top of each other with a scoop of strawberry ice cream "inside" of the Jenga pieces and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top of the tower with "melted" whipped cream poured on top of the tower. Rainbow sprinkles are scattered on the whip cream and there are sliced strawberries that surround the base of the tower with a creative flower cut strawberry at the top with the vanilla ice cream. This is dessert is great to order for the first time or to show someone around the town. I thought it was alright, it just looks awesome for pictures to show your friends later. The ice cream was great, however it was tricky eating the Jenga tower honey bread because it could easily fall apart if you try move a piece, obviously just like the game. Definitely something you should order if you're coming in with a large group. It's just fun! PEACH GREEN TEA: $3.85ish I'd say this is a good drink to order that's light with a hint of fruity essence to it. It's not overwhelming and it's refreshing. It comes in a nice "hourglass" shaped cup with a skinny straw if you are ordering it when dining in. It's a cute concept to have the glass hourglass shaped so it's easier to hold your drink. However, it is a bit bulky to hold since it's kind of a big size. TARO MILK TEA: My friend had ordered this and it tasted like any other ordinary taro milk tea you would order anywhere else. Not too sweet but just regular taro milk tea. MIXED FRUIT TEA: Another friend of mine ordered this and it had some fruit pieces added in. She said it was delicious. Refreshing on a hot day. The interior of the place is spacious with a lot of seating near the window and in the open space. All the chairs are pink and the tables look very nice with sparkly midnight blue "stones" in black granite...or it seems like it. We had one server and she was very kind to us as we were basically the only ones who came in at the time. There are also games you can play with your friends near the front of the store, similar to Rustic Couch. Of course, they have Jenga. Music is played probably from someone's ipod or iphone because there would be 3 or 4 songs played by the same artist and then it would change, which isn't bad. Their menu in general is very overwhelming with a lot of choices so at first you don't know what you want so I'd say take your time when you come here. It has been amazing to see Pleasant Hill Rd appearing with new dessert cafes and/or restaurants within the past year. Snow Flake Tea House is definitely on my top dessert choices for after dinner occasions. I'm assuming this opened a little more than 2 weeks ago, I recently started knowing about Snow Flake through social media of course. Me and my boyfriend were pretty excited to stop by, and it was our meal before our actual dinner :) We got to try 2 items for the first visit so far, (i'll update more with other visits): Green Tea shaved ice with red bean and Thai Tea. Green Tea Shaved Ice: I LOVED everything about this flavor and dessert. The consistency from the photos I've seen on social media is what enticed me to stop by. The texture isn't like your typical shaved ice competitor down the street, it is a lot more "rich", didn't melt too quick (i could actually take a break in between), and the green tea flavor was not so strong, but great enough for me to want to come back for more. In my opinion, Snow Flake's shaved ice is a mix of the ice cream texture as well. It was perfect! Every shaved ice order comes with 2 toppings and two syrups. We only opted for one syrup and that was the condensed milk. Next time I think i'll just not get the syrups, because I just feel like my sweet tolerance is low, and I'm not to much of a fan of any syrups. The toppings that we chose were lychee fruits and aloe vera. The red bean that already accompanied the green tea shaved ice will probably be the best red bean on any shaved ice dessert i'll have. The reason is because it wasn't to sweet nor to much of an overload. Thai Tea: This was okay, we ordered it because I think we just wanted to try a typical milk tea. We asked for it to be 3/4 sweet, which ended up great. However next time with the shaved ice dessert, we'll probably just order a fruity tea instead of a milk based. i love how it was served it a curved glass. To sum it up, I really love this place. The interior is nice, the pink is my favorite! I do agree though some booths should have been here, but it isn't too much of a issue. It is a sit down, and a waiter helps you with your order. The menu is pretty big compared to your standard dessert joint. They have plenty of teas to choose from ranging from milk based, fruity, or hot and fruity. I'll still come by during the winter times just for their hot teas! There are so many options for the teas and i believe they use tea leaves based. After leaving another restaurant in this same strip, I decided to see what Snow Flake was about. I entered into this restaurant that was very clean with pink accents. I was shown a menu by one of the cashier/drink preparers and couldn't figure out what I wanted. Seriously. The options are plenty. That time, I decided to get a brown sugar milk tea. Sooo sugary. Good, but extremely sweet and I love sweets. The next time, I ordered a pina colada yogurt drink and (heart eye emojis X 3). I can imagine it with rum! Watch out Suno's, Snowflake Tea House is on the block now!!! The whole area surrounding Snowflake has picked up a lot of business now thanks to Sweet Hut. Moreover, their "snow" ice cream is fantastic!!! The consistency is different from Suno's because they do it in ribbon like swirls. Upon entering, you are greeted and seated by a hostess. No ordering at the counter here, a waiter or waitress will come around to take your order and deliver the bill. Seating is plentiful here and they also have board games to play with if you are in a huge group. Great job there Snowflake!! The pricing is $6 to $7 with the options of picking 1 syrup and 2 toppings (additional toppings were 50 cents or so). Not a bad price compared to other places. They also do drinks like their competitor and additional desserts (but.......Sweet Hut is like right there so yeahhh...). I am glad that Snowflake Tea House decided to open here in Duluth, so now I have a new place to go for "snow-like" dessert. Also, for pointers go before 10pm or 11pm. It tends to get really crowded and there are no seats to sit so you will be standing waiting for a table (weekends typically). read more

I have visited Snowflake Tea House two times. Once for the early grey bubble tea, and once for the honey toast. Early grey bubble tea? Good. Based off that one flavor, I already like their bubble tea more than Sweet Hut. Honey toast? The toast is beautiful and great for a Snap or Instagram, but the taste is just okay. It is basically a huge cube of toast with smaller cubes of toast inside, all topped with ice cream and other toppings (depending on which toast you order). We ordered the Matcha Red Bean Toast, which is topped with green tea ice cream, red bean, Ritz crackers, and flavored mini marshmallows. The green tea ice cream and red bean were great. They were extremely generous with the ice cream portions. However, the Ritz crackers didn't add too much to the flavor, and I personally hate fruit flavored marshmallows (it really didn't go well with the green tea and red bean). As for the toast, it is very crunchy. Although I generally enjoy a crisp to my bite, the toast would be better if it was soft in the inside. In the end, you can always drown your toast in melted ice cream to soften it up, but it's not the same. The toast totaled to about $14 with tip. I shared it with one other person, and we could not finish it, and most people shared among 4 people. In conclusion, it's gigantic. Enough about food. Snowflake has plenty of seating, both regular and booth. There were many large groups sharing desserts and playing board games provided by the Tea House. Overall, very spacious. As for service... it's sub-par. First off, the menu is huge and lacks descriptions and pictures. We had a lot of issues trying to choose what toast to order. Summer Style, Black Humor, Golden Brick? There is no hint at what the toppings are. When we flagged down a worker to ask about the options, she was absolutely no help. She just described every single one as toast with ice cream on it. Yes, I know what honey toast entails. Please explain what the toppings are. It might be a language barrier, but I would really appreciate a more descriptive menu. I would return to order a carry out bubble tea or another beverage to sip at while playing some board games with friends. I probably won't bother with the honey toast again unless they include descriptions or pictures. I was super excited to see this place while driving by on Pleasant Hill. It's located in a complex that's been abandoned for many years... literally zero activity, until a "Sweet Hut Opening Soon" sign popped up several months ago. Our encounter started off with being led by staff to a table to sit. No one took our order for several minutes, so I was confused as to whether we were supposed to order from our table or at the front... I had to call out to an employee who was chatting with another employee. We got their "Flavored Snow," which is a very reasonable $7 considering the gigantic portions. It includes 2 free sauces and 2 free toppings. The green tea flavor automatically comes with a side of red beans, and we added on mango (in season right now, tasted good) and lychee, and condensed milk. At Snow Flake, they don't make the shaved ice in front of you, so I wasn't able to confirm that this is indeed mian mian bing (shaved ribbons from a large cylindrical block of milk ice, Taiwanese in origin). The snow wasn't very fluffy... it was somewhat dense/chunky. If you've ever been to Blockheads in LA, there is no comparison. Flavor wise it was still pretty good and the fruit were good as well, but texture just wasn't the best. I was impressed with the portions.. it was probably enough for 3 (maybe 4) people. We saw another table eating something called a Honey Toast.. It was this huge concoction of toast ?? with scoops of ice cream or snow?? I don't really know what all is in it, but my husband wants to go back just to try that. I think the reason I had to give 3 stars and not 4 was the service. Aside from the initial ordering process, we waited for a while for our snow.. the store was not very busy (there were maybe 3 other tables than us and they seemed to have already gotten their orders), and making shaved ice should be a quick process. I've been to snowflake 4-5 times already and was never impressed. The drinks there were mediocre. The shaved ice were too sweet. The mixed fruit crepe was hard and dry which was terribly disappointing because I'm a crepe lover. The only thing that's slightly impressive about this place is the honey bread and board/cars games that are provided. The honey bread portion was huge and full of fruits. Very yummy! The only thing I did not like about it was that the bread was a tad hard on the outside. I'm used to the soft and chewy honey bread at Orange coffee bar. Honestly, I've been here far too many times. The first time I came, I was prepared to study with a friend. Unfortunately, it took me a while to realize that Snowflake is not a quiet cafe. Rather it's bustling with activity and filled with people talking, playing games, and overall just having a great time with friends. During my following visits, I usually came with friends and had a great time playing Jenga or just hanging out and talking. Food wise, Snowflake serves great toast castles and snow. I've had the Macarons Party Toast and Summer Style Toast. When eating the outer layer of toast, make sure to put ice cream on it as it can be a bit dry! I've had the coffee and green tea snow as well. The snow is fluffy and delicious, but the toppings are the most important part. (Ask the servers for recommendations!) I've also had a crepe, but it isn't anything special. The crepe itself is a bit thick, but it's still a tasty, cold treat for the summer! The honeydew bubble tea is a must try! Lastly, the service is great. The servers are knowledgeable, and give great recommendations. Sometimes it can get a bit hectic especially later at night on weekends or Fridays but the servers are still extremely patient and kind. We tried this place out for desert after I saw a picture of one of the deserts. We had the macaroon honey toast and that thing was huge!! The 3 of us shared it and it was plenty for everyone. The ice cream and toast go so well together and the ice cream is not too sweet. I also had a mint milk tea which had an odd flavor to it. I probably would not have that one again, but there were plenty of other flavors to chose from. They also have dominos, chess and a few other games you can take to your table and play. Decor is nice. Upon walking in, the place was pretty full and we thought it would take a while. But the service was fast and we got our desserts very quickly as well! They also have some selection of games and free WiFi. As for the desserts, it honestly looks better in pictures than it tastes. They offer block games similar to Jenga, which would be cool if it weren't for bratty kids spilling that stuff everywhere and screaming out loud obnoxiously. Families order one or two shaved ice and sit there for hours while their kids scramble around the floor looking for lost blocks of wood. There's about 4 employees that attempt to do everything.
