Love getting the halo halo at snowflakes but I'm always disappointed every time. The reason why I'm disappointed with this place is because they are never consistent. I order my halo halo with NO ICE CREAM, no beans, but extra of the ice mixture. I'm always told I have to pay extra for it which I do not mind paying. Every time, I never get the extra that I paid for. If you ask someone that works there, they give you attitude. Snowflake now has a new location, and this is one a lot better because there's outdoor seating in this plaza. I got the shaved iced size small which was $5. The cotton candy and gummy bear flavors are so good. It was super fast and i was in and out of there. Even though it was a hot day, my shaved ice didn't melt super quickly. Our go to is the halo-halo here. It has a perfect mix of the traditional halo-halo ingredients with the best snow-like ice! When you mix it up it's so refreshing and delicious. We even brought my mom, all the way from the San Fernando Valley, and it is mom approved! She is the biggest halo-halo fan and always makes it for us when we visit her. We loved Snowflakes so much that, for our recent event we hired them to cater for us! Their service was amazing, they arrived early for set up, and got things going right on time. We hired them for 2 hours service, but everyone loved them so much that they were totally sold out well under that time. They serve in small cups, which is the perfect amount of serving for an event, as everyone has already eaten and nothing goes to waste. The serving itself had the famous snow ice, the halo-halo ingredients, and the yummy ube ice cream topped with pinipig. We even got the meet the owners, Kevin and his wife, who founded Snowflakes 10 years ago. Truly a well run family business. I used to visit Snowflakes when they were at their old location and would always order the Chunky Monkey. However, when I went on 5/16/25, the condensed milk tasted oddly sour, and the bowl was only half-filled. Additionally, the service has drastically declined. We used to come here for the Halo Halo, but in the recent months, there has been a huge decline in quality, Customer Service and overall experience. Called to place an order for takeout and it took me almost 10 phone calls to finally get get through. When the person picked up, they did not sound happy, they sounded miserable. We placed our order, went pick it up... My husband ordered a smoothie.... They said they ran out of straws. How the heck is he supposed to drink his smoothie without a straw?! Also, the ube crinkles are never in stock but there are items on the menu that includes ube crinkles... we've ordered those items and they don't even tell you they're out of stock until after you receive your dessert and notice it's missing. They don't ask if you want to substitute or anything, they simply don't care. The customer service is a huge disappointment, everyone seems to be extremely unhappy and during the times we've waited for our order in-store, we noticed that they don't even like working with each other... This version is more "modernized" I would say and not so "Lola" as the name indicated. They also need to get longer spoons because it was not possible to mix mix everything in the large container. Not sure whose Lola (grandma) gave them the recipe for their halo halo, but... it ain't right. Such a shame. The only thing "halo halo" about their halo halo was the ube ice cream and the nata de coco they put in it. I'm all for making things your own, but the flavor of the original should still be there, and it just wasn't. I'm not sure what milk they use, but a proper halo halo calls for evaporated milk. There was BARELY any toppings which sort of defeats the purpose of "halo halo" which mean "mix mix", because there's nothing to mix. Also, it was blended ice, not shaved ice. Such a disappointment. I'd go back to try some of their other stuff. But, the halo halo was not the biz. My Lola would definitely not approve. read more
