She was so excited when she found Cafe Bonjour because they had several gluten-free options on the menu. We took an Uber there right after we landed and were able to walk right in and get a table when they opened, which worked out perfectly because the place started to fill up! It's a cute little spot with plenty of seating inside, and they also had a nice outdoor parklet that would be great in good weather. We asked to sit at the bar so we could watch the cooks in action, which was really fun. The menu had all the classic breakfast favorites like eggs and French toast, along with some lunch options like hamburgers and chicken wraps. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife ordered the gluten-free eggs benedict and absolutely loved it. I had the Bonjour omelet, and it was delicious. Overall, this is a fantastic breakfast spot with great food, a fun atmosphere, and solid gluten-free options.

Waiter didn't bring out water, didn't offer any cream or sugar for coffees, and was difficult to flag down to ask for extra plates/utensils. The inside is quite cramped and we were shoved into a tiny little corner. Overall a meh place for brunch. The appeal is the convenience of the location. Other than that I'd stop somewhere else for a brunch.

Prior to visiting Boston, I did my research on things to do and places to eat. Every search for…read morebreakfast spots mentioned Mike & Patty's as a must stop for the best breakfast sandwich you're going to get anywhere. Enough said! I'm a huge breakfast fanatic, especially a good breakfast sandwich or burrito. This is the original location that was started by two friends and has grown to multiple other locations since. We took an Uber here from our hotel. I imagine if you drive over here, parking will be a challenge. It's almost easy to miss. It sits on a corner of a brick building with just writing on the windows. In all my research I did not catch that it is the smallest restaurant in Boston at only 175 square feet. It's basically a room with most of the space taken by the tiny kitchen. There's also a little tiny ledge on the window with a couple of stools for those who may want to dine in. Customers including us took turns walking in and putting in our orders and then stepping out to make room for more people. It had a steady line the whole time we were there. Hours are limited from 7:30-2 so don't delay. Customer service was straight business, kind of the norm in Boston. Their menu is breakfast sandwiches, a couple of burritos and some lunch options like a turkey sandwich, BLT, or a Rueben. For sides, they have hashbrowns or a plain English muffin. For a small menu, they do have quite a few drink options like coffee, tea, juices, and different flavored milks including banana milk which I have never seen. For their food, they use high quality ingredients from local farms and purveyors and have their own bakery for their bread. My eyes fixated on the Breakfast Grilled Crack mainly for the name, but also all the ingredients looked tasty. It was quality eggs, bacon, four cheeses on sourdough bread. I went extra and added sausage to it as well. I also got OJ to wash it down. We realized our only option to eat comfortably was to go back to our hotel lobby to eat. Even with the travel time, the sandwich was nice and warm and the bread was still nice and crispy from the griddle. This sandwich was indeed one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. I almost felt guilty eating it because of how rich and cheesy it was. I would skip the hash brown next time. It did not travel well nor did it have anything special going on with it. Hands down one of my favorite meals of the trip that I would absolutely do again if I am in the area.

Sandwiches with an egg = breakfast right? My go-to is The Fancy: Vital Farms pasture-raised fried eggs, bacon, cheddar, smashed avocado, red onions, and house mayo on toasted Flourhouse multigrain. The ingredients are always fresh, and every bite is packed with flavor. Mmm Mmm Good! Ps...I eat it so fast every time I forget to take pics -- I just get too excited for it :)

But we got lucky and we were promptly seated at the counter. I had the classic breakfast plate with bacon, sausage, home fries, and fried eggs. Everything was very delicious. The bacon just had the right level of crisp to it. It looks like there are quite a few long time customers to this place, which demonstrates that the quality of the food here is probably very consistent. The service here was awesome. The manager lady (her name is Regina) was very attentive, warm, and friendly. The ambiance overall like I said is very cozy. I always enjoy a good home made breakfast in a small diner. One thing to note that is that this place is cash only.

The Paramount isn't one of those places you accidentally wander into. You commit to it. The line…read morewas stretched down the block, the dining room was packed shoulder to shoulder, and somehow they managed to squeeze more people inside than physics should probably allow. If personal space is important to you, maybe skip breakfast here. If great food is important to you, get in line. Despite what felt like a never-ending stream of people, the staff never seemed rattled. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, accommodating, and somehow kept things moving in quarters so tight I would've been stressed just carrying a glass of water through them. The kids ordered the s'mores pancakes, and they looked less like breakfast and more like something a Disney princess would be served after saving the kingdom. Towering stack of fluffy pancakes, chocolate, toasted marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs... the kind of plate that makes every other table stop and stare for a second. My oldest also had the Nutella waffles and declared them the best thing he'd eaten during his first trip to Boston, which is about as glowing a review as a teenager is capable of giving. After several days of treating carbohydrates like a food group, I tried to make one responsible decision and ordered the grilled chicken Cobb salad. Best decision of the trip. It wasn't your standard Cobb either. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, the chicken was perfectly cooked, the portions were generous, and somehow every bite was as good as the first. I'm writing this the next day and I'm still thinking about that salad, which is not a sentence I ever expected to type. My mother-in-law ordered the smash burger and said it was really flavorful, but noticeably dry. A little more sauce or a few actual condiments would've taken it from good to great. Prices were surprisingly reasonable considering you're eating in the middle of downtown Boston, and nobody left hungry. Actually, "barely left hungry" is more accurate because none of us could finish everything. Would I wait in that line again? Probably. I may complain about standing around, being packed in like a subway car at rush hour, and wondering whether the person behind me is officially part of my family now, but I'd still do it. Some places earn the crowd. The Paramount is one of them.
