Was a bit grossed out that she used a metal spreader (looks like a cake spreader) for my legs and kept reusing in the wax. Unsure why as there were wood sticks next to the wax. Gross but I'm hoping it was my fresh wax and not used again. Certainly wouldn't have tolerated that for a bikini or other wax. The ladies were nice. The hygiene is just not up to my standards.

Best thing is that you can walk-in, which I did, and I was told to come back in 30 minutes. When I returned, they took me fairly quickly. The pedicure was heaven, and the person doing the job was great. I then had a manicure, which was also excellent. If you find yourself in Amsterdam needing a nail salon, I highly recommend Crystal Nails. You should know in advance that they only take cash, and no credit/debit cards.

But in all seriousness, is pretty much a local hole in the wall place. I guess if you've never been to an actual professional salon, some people would think its a decent basic nail place.. Not even decent.. well for one, I am a professional nail tech myself. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt and gave it a try on a whim. I've been traveling for two weeks and needed mainly my foot scrubbed and massaged. There was also a huge language barrier and all I asked for was the pedicure. Which as advertised €20. I also had gel polish on from a prior treatment. (Was an extra €5 to remove.. ok sure.) They had no idea how to take it off except to scrape and file the gel off my nails down thin to where it was hurting and still is. The nail wasn't even buffed. It's rough as you'll see.. the cuticles not trimmed.. but honestly I was scared for her to even cut me so whatever. The skin around my nail beds is sensitive from so much filing, they trimmed my toe nails down very short to the quick, uneven and jagged.. I couldn't even complain. They didn't understand. So much happened and it was almost comical but traumatizing.. I remained calm and tried telling her I didn't need anymore servicing, ended up paying €31 instead of €20. PROS: None honestly.. By the end of my service, one lady there who is Thai did speak English.. (too late for me) CONS: It is an EXTRA €2 for Polish, no base or top coat either (Not included in pedi service) EXTRA €4 for a 5 minute Massage (also not included in the €20 service) €8 for 10 minute foot massage. And no gel/shellac options either. No actual pedicure chairs with tub, just a plastic cleaning bucket they bought, wrapped with plastic and filled with a little warm sink water.. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY unless your a minimalist of such things and just don't care about your toes nails.

It is outrageous how no conversation is possible (both in the salon and afterwards on Facebook). There is no other way of communication. What a bad service. In the end, after much nagging, I was refunded 7.50 paltry euros when it should have been 33. Ridiculous. Now 1 week later, there are already corners out of my nails, something that happens when there is too much filling (instead of new set). This again indicates that it is NOT a new set and I still have to get the remaining € 25.50 back!

It had everything you need and what they had was top notch. *AMBIANCE* Cozy, elegant, and stylish. There is some history to this place and you can tell two things: 1) It is family owned and they are taking good care of the place, and 2) the interior decoration is outstanding and they family put a lot of effort into getting it to where it is. Overall, the place is very quiet, peaceful, and a great place to relax. *SAUNAS* Their saunas met the mark with a high margin. The hot sauna is hot! The infrared sauna makes you sweat! The low heat sauna is great for relaxing! The water pool - cold! The steam room - great for skin cleansing and relaxing. They were all kept very clean! *ETIQUETTE* No clothes of any kind allowed in the saunas. Place your towel under you to cover your full body and to capture your sweat. Saunas and dressing room are co-ed, in fact the entire place is co-ed. Behave respectfully and politely. Ask the staff for any clarification, as they were super polite, helpful, and kind. Great place to try your first sauna in the Netherlands.
