I came to soapy joes car wash because I had a coupon for a free wash from a padres promotion. While there, they informed me that I could upgrade to a monthly membership for only $0.01. That was a deal I couldn't pass up! I like that they have shammys to dry or get the tough bird poop spots off after you drive through the car wash. They also have vacuum stations for free. Although some of the vacuums seemed to not have the expected power. read more

Too many times coming here it's packed in too full and you're waiting too long to find some open stall to vacuum and dry your car off in. Not to mention sometimes Equipment's broken. I think it's over price for the membership unless you're gonna be coming in every week. So I don't consider it a value. And to be honest sometimes I've had to get back in line and go through a second time because bird deposits don't get washed off in the first run so it's not a very good quality at this particular location at 67th and El Cajon Blvd. read more

Came from San Francisco wanted to wash my vehicle went here at soapy Joe's. It did a ok job I give it a 4 star.

Cheapest one-time wash is $13 which is more expensive than the nearby Pony Express automatic wash that offers the same services for $9. Additionally, it's a busy location, the vacuums had weak suction, no place to hang your car mats, and the guy helping with my payment was nice but also a bit pushy with trying to get me to sign up for one of their monthly memberships. I do love their air fresheners tho lol Probably won't be coming back to this location and sticking to Pony Express. read more

This location is horrible.. I asked the guy if I can have 2 air fresheners he told me I had to run my car through the washing process again.. ( this has to be a joke) ... cancelation time... half of their vacuum does not work. I've decided to cancel with Soapy due to vacuums not working, so many staff just standing around for nothing. They don't like to help you. Air freshener doesn't smell like how they usually do. I notice that in the last 2 months it's been horrible. I actually decided to become a member because I loved their air freshener smell. Guess they went a cheesier route cus it's not the same. read more

I have a membership with Soapy Joes. I see people all the time. Where they obviously didn't even pay for a Car wash but are pulled into a spot vacuuming & dumping their trash. What am I paying for if I can just roll up and use the facilities for free. A lot of times, I can't even get a spot because it's full. read more

Whatever you do, do not give them your credit card information. I signed up for a membership and found a bunch of fraudulent charges from various soapy Joe's locations totaling over $100. When I called to check they couldn't provide any receipts for these transactions, and refused to refund my money insisting I had spent over $100 at the car wash. Crazy. read more

This Soapy Joe's is near one of my favorite bagel places in San Diego, Ben and Esther's. So, if I'm coming to get a bagel, it's convenient to stroll through the car wash on the way. Soapy Joe's is great. I've never had an issue! The car wash does a great job in cleaning your car well and they've got tons of vacuum spots for your car. Most of these Soapy Joe's are relatively new, so everything is in great condition. read more

Ya know what I love doing? Washing my car for no reason other than the fact that I was close to Soapy Joe's and figured, why not? Yep, the monthly subscription will really turn you into a water-wasting-a$$hole by washing your car 4,5, or even 6 times a day. You'll wash your car so hard that the paint will chip and they'll start forwarding their water bill to your house. Okay, I'm only kidding but I love the monthly subscription that I don't even know how much it is. $20? $25? Beats the hell out of me, but if we says it's $50 a month, I'm averaging about $0.50 a wash. Kidding again, but I am enjoying the washes "on demand." read more

At Monday, November 10, 2:25pm. Once again, pulled up to spot with vacuums with little or no suction. No clean towels. "Ticket has been turned in" for vacuums. "Towels are coming soon." Waited ten minutes, no clean towels. Avoid coming to Soapy Joes at Montezuma and College. Not the first time this has happened when I need to get in and out. Grrr! Better to drive down to Mission Valley. Also, watch out for them double or triple charging on your membership. Caught them trying to charge me for three cars. Ugh. Finally got a refund, but not without a lot of back and forth emails. read more

I tried using 2 different coupons, neither worked or were expired. Paid full price for 2 washes and emailed support to see if I can get a coupon for the troubles. I asked in my initial email if i could, but otherwise if i couldnt get a coupon, to be left alone. I then went back and forth providing personal information and day after day I was communicating with Daniel, and he let me know he found my purchase and was about to send me a coupon, until suddenly, overnight, he couldn't find either purchase or said no coupons are available to me per his manager. I really didn't want to even go further than a "can I have a coupon, since the ones provided didn't work" "yes/no" is all that I was looking for, but after numerous email threads back and forth, I'm left in the same spot I was before, with my time wasted. Daniel was barely even trying anymore near the end, seemed like he needed to hit a quota of emails per week or something, that's why it seemed like he was just leading me to nothing. read more

After going to both Pony Express car washes (54th and Mass) only to find them both closed we settled for Soapy Joes. We waited nearly 10 minutes in 1 of 2 lanes while it took 2 guys to fix the payment machine. Actually one was watching while the other was trying to fix it. We were waiting in our car, driver window down, AC blasting in the 85 degree heat, assuming to be acknowledged. Except there was NO eye contact. Meanwhile the second lane had no problems getting cars through, one after another. One of the two guys at least could have blocked off the lane with issues because once you're boxed in between cars there's no backing out (but that would make too much sense right?!). Finally once the machine was working, Jose, was like "what can I get ya?" There was no "sorry for the wait". He said the "machine jams up all the time". Well golly, if that's a common occurrence, block the lane off so we can continue on. Not coming here again. It's a pain to get in and out the lot anyway. Pony Express is much more affordable AND people actually work hard to service you, BUT sadly we found both locations to be closed today with a sign of what appears to be a new company taking over. If this new spot is worse than crappy Joe's I'll go to Prestige instead--they do an amazing job pre-spraying and hand drying inside and out for under $40. read more

I came in with stuck on bird poop in quite a few areas. The guy said he would let me run my car twice through if the poop didn't come off the first time. Most came off and I was able to remove the rest with the microfiber towels provided (which there were plenty of). Having access to towels allowed for no streak marks as well, as a few other nearby carwashes didn't fully dry my car. read more

I'm not a fan of this location. It's way too small. Cars can approach the entry from 2 different directions, causing a backup of cars. The light to exit never turned green, an employee had to tell me when to exit. If it's busy, good luck getting a vacuum. I had to drive back to the entrance to find the only open space and there were several cars behind me. Staff is available at the payment kiosk for any help you might need. Having a membership of course makes everything a breeze. Just to drive up& everything in the wash is done for you. I don't know if it's just the stall I was at, but the vacuum had no strong suction to it. It was the first stall closest to the driveway at the exit part of the wash. The wash itself was ehh. It was pretty warm today, so it may have dried before I got to dry it with the microfiber towels? I got a scratch on top of my trunk too, I'll try to remember to take a pic. But that was a little sad. I know those are inevitable with these machine washes but I'm still dying inside a little.. lol. read more

Worst customer service experience. I came in for a single wash and Jaime tried to upsell me for a membership. When I kindly decline he said "okay whatever then" and snatch my card from my hand and swiped it. Handed my card back and continued to look at his phone. I went to this location today. Many of the vacuum hoses had been removed so I had to wait for the opposite car to use the one shared hose available. This is the second bad experience I've had at this location. No one was at the kiosk when I first arrived so I decided to just fill out the information myself and pay. When the attendant came over after I paid, he insulted the way my car looked and commented on the fact that I didn't get the membership. He was rude and unhelpful. There was simply no need for him to say or do anything. Not only will I not be purchasing the membership due to two poor experiences with him, I will not be returning to this location. Came here on a Saturday afternoon hoping to get my car cleaned up and spotless. I got the súper for $17, which I wouldn't complain about but the lack of towels and working vacuums did not clean my car as much as I would have liked. Only one clean towels bin had towels to dry off your car, and since it was the only one, there were not enough towels for everyone to grab. Additionally, the vacuums weren't sucky enough. They couldn't even suck up the Little Rock's in my car from hikes. I tried the vacuum on the passenger side of my car but still not sucky enough. My car came out a tad but cleaner because of the drive thru but the inside was still quite dirty and I had to come home and use my portable mini vacuum to finish the job that the big ones at soapy joes couldn't handle. All in all, not worth it. read more

Pay a subscription for a car wash. You have the option of paying for one of 3 subscription packages. They put a barcode tag on your windshield. The reason for this is, you drive up to the "gate" your barcode is scanned and then the gate opens and your drive in. It is a "ride through" car wash (not drive through, your car rides on a track). A nice attendant offers you a car freshener before you enter the car wash tunnel. Pros. a paid subscription means you do not have to swipe your card for every car wash. No more feeding quarters into a machine. The vacuums are free to use. This makes life a lot easier if you want to get your car washed in the evenings, after work. Cons I suppose if I had a brand new car, I may not want an ugly tag on my windshield. read more

This location is way better than the one in La Mesa, that one is terrible. The service here is good, the employees are friendly and helpful. The wash actually gets my car clean, which doesn't happen enough at the other location. This one is located by The Living Room, easy to find location in the College Area. I don't actually know what they charge for a wash, I use the monthly pass and go to different locations since the one by my house is terrible, but the pass is a good option if you have white car which needs to be washed so very often.. read more

I did not realize that Aqua Clean had sold this car wash to Soapy Joe's when I visited this weekend. The man who assists with the credit cards being inserted into the pay machines was pleasant, as before. However, I noted the price for the basic car wash had jumped from $6.00 to $10.00. The man guiding your car into the facility does NOT spray off your car before it enters, as Aqua Clean always did. That was a disappointment. Once inside, it also seemed the swirling brushes were more abrasive and aggresive than before, and my side mirrors got knocked in. As others have mentioned, the two men who always waited for you at the end to dry off your car on each side have been banished. Upon exiting the car wash, you are strictly on your own to wipe up the drips and drops. read more

This location used to be good but now its the worst. Went twice this week to see if it was a fluke but the pads to scrub your cars doesnt even move lol. Whats crazier is the dryer isnt even on to dry your car this location is on the downward trend within the last year. Hopefully management sees this and do something about it. read more

Clean car wash with multiple people on staff. They provide complimentary towels to clean your car. When it first opened up, the vacuums use to work well and now have minimal suction. I hope they are replaced soon. read more

This location is one of the worst. There's been multiple stalls closed for a couple of months now, you can't even dry your car considering how busy it is, the vacuums hardly work and the broken ones are fixed with masking tape. Today the staff decided to circle me as if I was stealing my car because I was drying it inside of one gated stalls. If it's out of service close the door or make other stalls available. The clean towels aren't replenished on a timely manner so you always have to go around other stalls to see who has extra clean towels. Always check that you're getting the wash your paying for, I have the monthly subscription for the Super Joe and have caught them downgrading my wash to Classic Joe a few times already, definitely considering canceling my membership since its no longer worth the ridiculous price increase considering how run down the facilities are. read more

My friend and I spent the weekend off-roading and you bet the car was DIRTY!!! It was so caked in mud that you couldn't even tell what color the car was!!I came to this Soapy Joe's and before my car even went through the wash, Chris, basically cleaned all of the mud off! I love the Soapy Joe's staff here! So friendly and always willing to help you. This is the only location I go to because the staff of that AMAZING!! Shout out to Chris!! What can I say. I am a customer for two years. Never had a problem until now. They had an issue renewing my membership this month, so when I went for a car wash the guy asked me to update the payment method, which I did. So he charged me and I went on. Next time I show up it says I didn't pay the membership. So I talked to the manager and he said there is nothing he could do because I only paid for one car wash. But I have been a member for years now, how could that be? So now they are asking me to renew again and I can't wash my car until then. It just feels like this people don't really care about their customers or their time. read more
