So this is the self pro-claimed "Australia's Largest Flight School"? More like a circus run by amateur clowns that overcharges you and make you cry. All the bad reviews written by plenty of others on facebook and google totally makes sense.
These clowns charges approx. $25,000 for RPC/RPL and another $25,000 for navigation endorsement done on RA-Aus ultralight aircrafts, while one of the biggest flying schools out of Bankstown charges only about $15,000 + $15,000 for CASA issued RPL and PPL with training on GA Aircrafts.
It seems this Box Hill Institute/Sore Aviation circus spends quite some money on marketing making targeted sponsored ads on facebook, instagram and more to entice you to enrol. But as soon as you enrol and they got your dole, absolutely nothing lives up to expectations, from the quality of classes, including large class sizes in a cramped classroom and inexperienced instructors, to the crappy RA-Aus ultralight planes riddled with engine and radio problems, to the rude, condescending and some foul-mouthed egomaniac instructors and staff.
Wanna go back to kindergarten where you get told you can't eat a biscuit in class plus you need to put your hands up and ask your teacher for permission to go to the toilet? This is the right place for you where you can pay for the experience, at their Bankstown facilities which is small and basic, compared to another large flying school I've seen in Bankstown with state of the art facilities including two simulators, this place is like a home garage business, the kitchen area is so cramped. And I guess despite the astronomical amount of tuition they're charging, they can't afford to pay someone to clean the toilets which is always dirty and stink like the public toilets at Town Hall station.
Deceptive and unacceptable business conduct including but not limited to not publishing and disclosing census dates properly as per the law 'Vet Student Loans Act' and not letting students fly until first census date has passed. Prior to enrolment a newer and more expensive aircraft model were promised to our particular class but a few weeks into the course and about a few days before first census date they suddenly told us they were unavailable and provided us with a much cheaper substitute, all while refusing to provide any remedy.
From clueless and condescending administrative staff to egocentric and abusive instructors, this circus has it all. From what I've gathered, most of the administrative staff have only been employed for a few months when I first started there. I wonder why.
Some quality of the students are so bad they lack the basic English literacy skills and really struggled before dropping out, not that Box Hill Institute or Sore Aviation cares because all they want is for the student to sign away the Vet Students Loans debt.
Students who raise concerns about their shady business practices are quickly met with arrogance and intimidation.
The so-called CFI even once said to me "If you have an issue just come and speak to me, don't send me an email or anything in writing, I'm a pilot and I'm here to fly planes and not here to read emails."
How astonishing that one is supposedly running a flying school business and yet doesn't read. I wonder how he got his pilot's licence. read more
