Learned about this museum from Downie's exhaustive book on some serious Paris history. And then, almost done with Kevin Kwan's book #2, it just got an honorable mention as some girls in the book went to visit! The house that was transformed on the upper two levels to Moreau's very own studio, it was, to my delight, filled with art students deep in study and practice when I came by. The spiral staircase up to the top room is stunning, has a great view, and leads to a full hardwood to ceiling exhibit of so many various pieces! It takes one's breath away. Incredible amount of works that are all exhibited here. I'm not sure that I am a fan of his art, even those I spied at the Louvre. Any trompe l'oeil? Well, not exactly... But it's wonderful to have walked the 9th, and to have seen firsthand the artist's atelier and humble home. History truly is amazing.

For me, I'm very passionate in life and love, but in all honesty probably would never duel over anyone, well unless said name ends with Jolie ;D Musée de la Vie Romantique ahh a museum that resonates of the era of Romanticism. A time of emphasis on emotion and individualism, idealization of nature, suspicion of science and industrialization, and glorification of the past with a strong preference for the medieval rather than the classical. Ahh... to live George Sand was the pen name of Amantine Lucile Dupin. She lived by her own words, having affairs with several of her literary contemporaries and the occasional commoner too. Nothing like French love affairs, eh? Today she a HO! Musée de la Vie Romantique has to be one of my favorite small museums in Paris. Don't expect the Louvre here, but expect a very intimate experience as you walk around in an old mansion built before the era of Romanticism. Each creak in the stairs a story that once was, each artifact in the case a story within a story. Sounds cliché but only if the walls could talk! If you have the Paris Museum Pass, which I highly recommend, entering this intimate museum is absolutely free! So get the pass and be Parisian in the City of Love! II n'y a qu'un bonheur dans la vie, c'est d'aimer et d'être aimé... ahh to love and be loved. In the end, I recommend Musée de la Vie Romantique in Paris. Extremely interesting. On the first floor there's a little…read moreexhibit on the history of the Palais de la Porte Dorée itself, which first hosted a colonial exhibition in 1931 and a series of colonially-minded collections before becoming the museum it is today. You can then find a section made of personal items donated by individuals to the museums: family photographs, objects of devotion, musical instruments, old postcards. I found it a very interesting insight on the 'plural voices of migration', as the museum puts it, and liked the fact that this section is varied chronologically and geographically. The centerpiece is the exhibit on migrations which develop thematically rather than chronologically/geographically. Some topics I remember: sport as a means of integration, music as a means of integration (with a nice jukebox of French songs written by / about migrants), lodging issues connected to immigration, food and immigration. It's a small museum and I personally spent about 2hrs inside. Tip: if you visit on Sundays (but apparently also on Thursdays) you can enjoy the local market (Marché de la Porte Dorée) and have a snack there. Just across the museum is the nice Bois de Vincennes. While I visited, the Palazzo Café just outside the museum (not the museum coffee shop, which is inside the Palais) offered snacks and drinks on a very nice patio. The only reason why I did not give a 5 stars rating: only some of the explanations are translated (into English, some are translated also into German and/or Spanish), therefore visitors who do not read French might only partially enjoy the exhibits.

Wow! This was more than I expected! And such a beautiful building. It is currently celebrating its…read more140th year! There were some actors posed to appear as wax figures and they were good!! Showing how very life like the work is. This is France so many of the figures are French but you recognize most. Very neat. Follow the crowd from room to room, era to era, genre to genre. I saw the kids enjoy it and insisting on getting their selfies done with a favorite athlete or other. Worth it to us. Especially on a rainy afternoon.

We went to the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace, or Air and Space Museum, at the recommendation of a…read morefriend who works for Delta Airlines and spends a lot of her time among planes. We have two young boys and this seemed like a perfect family outing when we were in Paris earlier this month. Our experience was slightly tainted by an uncharacteristic tantrum from our six-year-old, but the museum was otherwise wonderful. It was maybe a mistake to schedule this visit for our first morning in Paris, when everyone was tired and out of sorts. The museum, located on the grounds of an airport long closed to commercial aviation, is a bit of a hike from Paris. We got a much later start than intended, took the train out to Porte de la Chapelle and suffered a hot half-hour wait for the first bus that would take us to the museum. Enough to make even a reasonable adult feel irritable. The museum was pretty amazing, though, well worth visiting, especially with kids who love airplanes. It wasn't busy at all on a Thursday in July. No wait and no advance reservation required. We spent over two hours exploring and would've stayed longer if we didn't have to get back to Paris. There were definitely a couple exhibit halls we rushed through for time, and others we missed altogether. The Concorde hall, with two retired Concorde jets, was the highlight for us adults, but I think the boys loved everything. Our three-year-old is obsessed with "airplanes with propellers" and both kids enjoyed all the old airplanes and the hall full of helicopters. The tarmac was awesome and featured several planes in their full glory. We got to go inside a Boeing 747, a plane we've read about several times in one of the boys' favorite picture books. The space stuff was cool, too, and we would've spent more time looking at it if we hadn't had to get going. In retrospect, we should have skipped the gift shop, where our older kid had his meltdown because I wanted to buy him the die-cast Concorde jet instead of the generic made-in-China airplane I recognized from a toy store back home. It was a nice shop, though, with a lot of attractive plane models and other memorabilia that must appeal to adult enthusiasts. If you're child-free with limited time in Paris, you're probably not making it out to the Air and Space Museum. It's an excellent outing, though, for anyone who wants to walk inside a 747 and two Concorde jets.

Though to be fair, it's out of the way so hard to get to and we had to get an Uber which had little trouble making way to entrance. However, lots of interesting displays, history and planes that you can actually explore. Great place for kids to run around and push buttons, which if on holiday and you've done loads of art museums, and kids are itching for some interactive exhibits, this is the place.

That said, it may take that fantasy sense to appreciate the Archeological Crypt of Notre Dame. There is a charge to get in, but we scoffed that with our Museum Passes. There is a fascinating history of the development of the city of Paris from Roman times, but it is mostly shown in charts and pictures, the only things you actually see in the crypt are the stone foundations of the Roman city. So, I would recommend this for archeology buffs or history buffs. One tip if you have asthma, it is a bit airless in the crypt, although cool!

A huge fan of Ms Piaf's music and always up for an adventure and a museum, I was majorly excited for this place. And then we got there. Musée Édith Piaf is actually a small apartment full of Edith memorabilia. She lived in this very apartment, which is cool and exciting, but only two rooms are dedicated to her legacy an, quite honestly, they aren't nearly as impressive, grand, or special as this lady deserves. They're full of photos, clothing and knick-knacks you can peruse whilst listening to Edith's music blaring over a sound system, but that's about it. The apartment building it's in is still residential, so it's nice to get a glimpse of real Parisian life while you're here and in the neighborhood. I'm glad we went, and while I wasn't blown away by the collection, it was fun and a pretty memorable experience.
