I am a person with a diability who receives SSDI. When I go to the Social Security Office (at 920 Basin Road, New Caste, DE 19720), I have always been teated in a friendly manner with kindness, respect, consideration, empathy, compassion, and inclusivity. The two guards at the entrance always asked others in line if I could go first due to my lack of mobility. Then, those guards removed obstacles in my way. The guards go get one of the ladys who puts my information into the computer screen where a person gets a number to wait for assistance. The lady then takes me back into the area were they meet privately with each person to help them. I can not say enough good things about all those Social Security professionals. I highly recommend them. read more

My first in-person visit to SS. I'm 88 years old and was doing this on my own. I had trouble finding it. Don't have a smart phone or whatever you need in my car for directions. I was a walk-in - had about a 2 hour wait -- I tried to make an appointment but couldn't get that done by phone. Once I finally found the building, I found the employees at the door, in the waiting room and the agent who actually took care of my request, to be friendly and helpful. It appeared that having more agents available to deal with the number of people who were waiting would have helped. ER read more

someone in the Newcastle office got smart with me and I want my money back they stole my money be careful. because they steal the money rite back that happened and the guy in the office was really disrespectful. and told me that I am beat for my money and I had almost 3 grand sent to me so yea I am calling the state on these people on my dead lil girl and the woman called me say asked for my info and she said it will be in my account and they told me that they took my back pay back they stole my money and I just had it sent to my account. but it ok I feel bad for everyone good luck and don't ever get this money from here I been getting. my ssi and I no problem having it and they stole my money I have have something for these. people i hope they keep that place open am taking them all at social Security to court am get mymoney back. Today at approximately 2:40, I called to make an appointment but I needed some questions answered first. I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Coleman who was on top of his game if I may say, all my questions were answered thoughtfully and in-depth. At some point I thought I had him on the phone too long. One of the quesadillas, can I have SS take the taxes off the top for each check, he thanked me answered my question and gave me additional information regarding the four different per centages. I couldn't answer his question regarding the percentages because that would be based on how much I would be receiving being that I didn't claim for a year and a half, he broke it down to me, hit a couple of numbers on his calculator and boom, he gave me an estimated amount and followed up with another amount for Jan 2025. By far I couldn't get a better person. God Bless him for his patience and thoughness. We need more of him but for now he's the only one. He's got it done, appointment and all! read more

The only thing I didn't like about this place was that they're still stuck in Covid phase. Everyone waits outside the office like a herd of cattle and they'll only let two people in at a time. That sucks. But once I got checked in, my social security worker performed miracles that they weren't able to do in NJ. All I needed was my last name changed. read more

I visit the Social Security office today. The supervisor have no customer service, and was very rude and asking.

I send my documents two months ago and never heard anything so I called them 3 times and each time they had no idea where my documents went ... so I contacted a different location and got my new SS card a week later. I then received a letter saying they can't give me a new one because i don't meet the requirements.. well funny because I just got one. Everyone I talked to was rude and disrespectful!! read more

This office does not have enough staff or capacity to handle the crowd, so one may have to wait an hour or more to see a Social Security clerk. However, once I got in, I found the clerk to be very polite and knowledgeable. Office hours aren't convenient for anyone who has a 9-5 job though and they recently shortened their hours, which does not help matters. read more
