The marker is on the side of the road and there is a small church parking lot nearby so that you can view the marker. It reads, "Charles E. Wilson was born on July 18, 1890 in Minerva. After earning a degree in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1909, he joined the Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh before moving to General Motors in Detroit in 1919. By January 1941, Wilson had become president of General Motors, and during World War II directed the company's huge defense production efforts, earning him a U.S. Medal of Merit in 1946. While still with General Motors, President Dwight Eisenhower selected him as secretary of defense in January 1953. During his confirmation hearings, Wilson said, "What was good for the country was good for General Motors and visa versa," but was interpreted as saying solely, "What's good for General Motors is good for America." He served Eisenhower for four years, reorganizing the department of defense to effectively deal with missile and nuclear technology. He died in Norwood, Louisiana, on September 26, 1961." The marker was erectedin 2003 by the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and The Longaberger Company, Village of Minerva, and The Ohio Historical Society. It is marker 3-10. It was built in 1938 out of a Hires (remember that brand?!?) root beer barrel and has stood the test of time. It's been refurbished a couple of times-once in the early 90s and in 2007. It's located just off Route 30 and you can't miss it. A little creamer pot sits next to it as well. Here's an interesting fact: Though it's named as the world's largest teapot, there's actually one a little bigger in Navasota, Texas. Sounds like I've got another roadtrip in my future!

We have had a problem in our neighborhood for the last 2 years with Quads and Motorcycles, dirt…read morebikes riding on the streets and the noise got so ridiculous. Other neighbors have also complained but did not want to get involved fearing retribution from this family. So, I had to call to have the police try to minimize the noise and nuisance. One time about a year ago I almost hit one of the kids when they pulled out in front of me. The police came over and spoke to the family and hopefully this will reduce the nuisance to all the other neighbors who are also very unhappy. We all thank you for your service

There is such a thing as empathy, which I feel that the younger police department members should go back to the academy for training. Somewhere along the way people have, especially younger officers lost there way. That is why certain cops are giving good officers a bad name. I have trusted police officers, but no wonder people are leary of officers. You do not know if you are going to live, or get the crap beat out of you when stopped by police now.

Tomlinson Run State Park offers breakfast at the campground on Saturdays from 8am-12pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day, and it's truly a hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious--hot, fresh, and made with care. What's even better? It's all prepared by amazing volunteers, and every dollar goes right back into supporting the park. You can really feel the community pride in every bite. We'll definitely be back again before the season ends. If you're local (or even just passing through), make the stop. It's a great way to kick off a Saturday morning surrounded by nature and good people.

First time visiting this park. It is on the small side compared to other WV State Parks. This means…read morethat it is faster to get to where you are going in the park (no long road in). As you enter the park there is a road to the right that takes you to the campground (BTW, I have rated the campground separately under Campground at Tomlinson Run State Park). As you drive forward you will pass the Park Superintendent's house (on the right). Behind the house is a tiny building that serves at the park HQ. This is where you need to go if you want to stamp your VIPP card. Not obvious and you feel like you trespassing on the residence there but just drive past and then to your right and find the stamp. Along this road on the left you will find a picnic area and shortly after you will come to the edge of a small lake (on the left). On the right is the entrance to a road the winds up and around to the top of a hill (through the woods). There are two picnic areas. The first is off to the left before really heading up the hill. This one was buggy when I was there. At the top of the hill there is a parking lot and picnic areas. Nice spot! The road that goes through the park continues onward and then there is a parking area on the right above the lake. At the lake's edge are paddle boat rentals. If you continue on the road straight on the road you will end up exiting the park.

This is a nice library with a wide book selection. They host a lot of events for the community…read more Computers are available to the public. There is a free parking lot in the back with about 10-15 spots. Also a curb side book drop. Beware though, as of July 2023, the library is under construction for renovations and there is NO air conditioning. So it's hot inside! Some days they even close early if it's too hot so you may want to call ahead to check. Excited to see what it looks like after renovations because it is an old building.
