There's no way for me to visit Madrid and not indulge myself in the pleasure of the best churros in town, fried by Socialty Coffee by Chirusa. It's an obligatory stop, just like visiting the Prado museum and mesmerizing yourself with one of Velazquez's paintings !
It's my third time around and the quality of the ingredients is beyond anything else you could find around and they just keep getting better. Their gluten-free and refill natural oil technique ensures that you won't block your blood arteries. They offer different topping options like the Argentinian dulce de leche, Italian Pistachio or hazelnut , and the violet sugar that will sprinkle each churro stick with some extra magic flavor.
I couldn't keep myself from repeating it as many times as I could, and still, I never felt overloaded with starch, and this is because of the quality of their ingredients. They also have two types of hot chocolate, a stronger flavor and another milder. Both of them are excellent, creamy, rich in taste, and not too heavy, perfect to damp your churros with them to encounter an explosive dynamic duo.
Socialty Coffe by Chirusa has also diversified itself into a pastry shop and elite coffee drinks, so you can have a chill breakfast or snack during your day.
Then you might wonder why is it called Socialty Coffee by Chirusa, and the main reason behind its "Specialty" is the talented team of workers that add all of their passion, experience, and hard work into each of the delicacies. The owner, Marco, an advocate for social causes, carefully hand-picked refugees to give them a second opportunity during their adaptation period in their new homeland. This is why you will always see all of them with big smiles and radiant hope of encouragement just by watching you enjoying their sweet treats .
Marco and team, you are the greatest example of what is done with love results in BIG results! No wonder why everything tastes so good and unique in Chirusa. Please , always keep the kind energy and flow as it is impregnating Madrid with !
Review 2024
During the winter in Madrid, I always have cravings for churros with hot chocolate to keep me warm. You might think that the place to eat them is @ St. Gines in the city center, but actually this is not the case. I discovered Chirusa in the Salamanca district and let me tell you they are the best churros I have tried so far .
According to the baker, they are prepared with "ecological wheat" which allows the churro to not absorb so much oil when they are fried in their compact frier. This device allows them to control the temperature and cook the churro to the point that they are crispy enough in the exterior, but not as greasy as the ones you usually eat (with 30% less oil than the regular ones). Making them some kind of "organic churro".
The icings on the churros are all the dips they offer you to bath your churro in. From Belgian white chocolate, pistachio, dulce de leche, hazelnut (Ferrero Rocher), to the violet sugar, all of the toppings will defintvley add a distinctive flavor to your experience. Don't forget to add your hot cup of chocolate to your order, as it is the classic splash you throw a churro into, specially because their hot chocolate is not as heavy or greasy as other I have tasted, this might be because they use organic cocoa. I thought that the hot chocolate was what would warm my day , but actually, the topping that makes all the experience blend together is the housewarming attention of their two hosts, Aracelis and Johana. Their friendly and charming treat full field our hungry spirit with sweet and love comfort. You can tell they are really passionated hard workers, making them the best topping to accompany your churro delight . read more
