Dr. Raben has been my primary doctor for awhile now, and part of the reason I chose her is that she has Saturday hours for established patients without an extra fee as long as you have an appointment. Regular copayment is always better than an urgent care center copayment! She has a lab, x-ray & ultrasound machines in her office, which make it more efficient whether getting a routine physical or a diagnosis when you're sick. In addition to treatment, she also offers some nutrition related medicine such as the vitamin IV's, which I'm a believer in. Dr. Raben's also offered phone consults before it was trendy. Her staff is friendly and helpful in getting your appointments. Heads up, Dr. Raben is direct. Besides still keeping paper record like the old day her bedside manner is to the point and lets you know what you (and yours truly) sometimes might not want to hear about your habits and health. That's sometimes needed!

This was due to a miscalculation on their part of what total reimbursement they were entitled to under the contract that have with my insurance carrier, and how much my portion of the insurance would be. When I pointed this out at the time of advance payment for the second, identical procedure, they insisted I had to make the same payment as the first time. This similarly resulted in an overpayment. This occurred 2-3 months ago. I have written them a letter and gotten no response. I called them and was routed by their phone system to an outside billing firm, only to learn that this company no longer handles South Florida Surgery Center. They have acknowledged that my account has a credit balance but have still not issued me with a refund. This is indicative of a facility with cash flow problems.

However I was then told that my new physician is booked until after the "First of the Year" (3 months out)! Really! 3 months!!! Good thing I was not in a hurry!! If your appointment is at 9:30am, you'll be asked to go in at 12pm and then when you're in the office, you'll be asked to wait another hour! And those free preventive visits don't exist here, they'll charge you a copayment plus their own miscellaneous fees, all paid in cash only. Never again. Horrible! Shady! Money-sucking monsters. Happened several times, and after last time where I spent months of trying to resolve problem with phone calls, emails, going to office to actually speak with them, I gave up and went to another doctor who immediately sent the prescription as required by insurance. While I prefer seeing Dr. Cepero, it's just not worth dealing with his horrible back room staff.
