I can't go to PR w/o getting Puerto Rican Chinese food, so I stopped by Sol Oriental. It's 1 of those small hole-in-the-wall spots, & I already had a good feeling about it just from how busy it was. The parking lot was a little chaotic b/c of the drive-thru,walk-in traffic,& how popular it is, but that just made it feel more legit.
I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken w/ fried rice, & that rice was so good(flavorful, fresh,& cooked just right). It also came with a small portion of fries on top of the rice which was a nice touch.btw that's actually the way the meal always comes.I also got the plain mofongo,& it was hitting. The portions were so huge I couldn't even finish it & ended up sharing w/ everyone and there was still some left over. The mofongo was rich, creamy,& scrumptious w/ a hint of garlic. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy,& flavorful.
The only downside was that the garlic sauce (mojito) for the mofongo was forgotten, which I was a little disappointed about b/c it would've taken it to the next level. Thank goodness it already had a hint of garlic in it.They actually almost forgot the mofongo itself too.Still, the guy who took out to go order was very friendly & chatted in w/ us while we waited for the food, which made the wait more enjoyable. He said we're going to love the food!
Def a solid spot!I'd go back again w/o thinking twice!Don't tempt me w/ a good time! read more
