As the poolside restaurant of La Concha Resort in San Juan, Solera is most commonly visited as the breakfast or brunch establishment. The cuisine is not particularly representative of Puerto Rico, but is not bad. Egg White Frittata is not bad. Avocado toast is decent. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict is one of the better dishes. The best is Steak and Eggs. Sadly the salad was not fresh on any of the instances. Tamarind juice is a great compliment to all dishes for some local flavor. Service front is constantly sporadic, the waitresses work hard, but it seems there are never enough people. So as a whole, Solera is not a place to avoid but it's also not a place to go out of the way for.
Decided to stop once again at Solera after a great experience in the evening but can't say the same for this time. After leaving the pool decided to grab some drinks and nachos, and waited for was more than 30 minutes for a server to stop by our table after I kept inquiring. The hostess passed by us on multiple occasions and didn't ask if we were being assisted. When the server arrives after he was brought to our table he was very unapologetic and proceeded to say that there was a change of shift. So does that mean that nobody gets served during change of shifts? Is this information that the guest needs to know? Regardless we proceeded to order and to receive our bill was another 25 minutes waiting for our server Victor to stop by our table to inform him we wanted the bill and pay. Seems like the evening crew service is superior than the afternoon crew.
Beautifully located by the pool in La Concha resort. We made a reservation beforehand but they weren't too busy. I had to the fish tacos and truffle fries. I liked the fries a lot but unfortunately wasn't too big of a fan of the tacos. Fish was way too dry and the tortillas broke in half as soon as I tried to pick them up. Although there was lime, the meal needed a lot more acidity. My friend got the salmon which she thoroughly enjoyed but unfortunately her stomach did not and she seemed to have a bout of food poisoning the rest of the day. Really unfortunate that we had a lack listed experience. I'd only recommend a drink and some fries while laying out at the pool.
I completed a reservation for 11:30 am, and security blocked me from gaining access to the restaurant. They said they open at noon instead. When I asked why they accepted a reservation and didn't give us heads up on the delay, the answer was the system was broken and that they are there to protect. I wonder protect from what? A client? And so was my experience at Solera. From top to bottom, only some more of that with the exception of Vladimir who was top notch in service. Ambiance on tables by the beach was wonderful.
My favorite hotel of all time in PR and the food here is amazing! I'm not sure if it was from being hungry all day and finally getting some food but everything was delicious. The sushi and I believe the (Poké) bowl was great as well. The service was very friendly and attentive from our waiters. With a pool view and outdoors sitting and music in the background you will surely feel comfortable and on holiday ambiance.
We stayed at La Conche hotel while visiting San Juan. We arrived late at night. We threw our bags in the room and went to Solera immediately after. We came super hungry. The food was good. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken. The price was super steep. We had two salads with chicken and our bill with tip ended up being $80. Not what you would expect for getting something so small.
An awesome view of the Pool and Beach, nice waiters and waitresses, also, I gotta say, there was a lil' game I could entertain myself with. I ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes for breakfast, couldn't imagine anything better. Don't tell my Dad, but these pancakes are better than his. I came back for lunch to eat a 12-ounce steak with tostones de plátano. The steak was spicy, everything else was good.
I must say that I've noticed that their isn't enough flavor options when it comes to chicken wings here in Puerto Rico. I ordered the wings here. They we're definitely fried well but wasn't seasoned well. The salmon was simple, cooked well. The brocolli only had two pieces. It was more of a garnish than an actual side. The mac n cheese was really light, didn't really taste much flavor. The taco was good.

Excellent service from Manuel! While waiting for our room we hung out at the hotel lobby bar. Cocktails and food are available at 11am. Nice music, cheery atmosphere, tasty bites. You must get the truffle fries. No brainer. read more
Wowww you guys really impressed me. This restaurant is at the La Concha Resort. I'm so glad this was the one I chose. Service was great but the food was excellent!! I started off with a glass of red blend wine. Had me feeling very relaxed. My meal was the Branzino sandwich which came with a side. I chosed the house salad. Perfect choice!! My husband had the cuban sandwich with a side order of tostones he decided to try two of the beers. The first was BOB(blood orange blonde) which was on tap. The second drink was SJU lager which came in a cute can. Loved the LOGO. We decided to share half of both meals. So we had the best of both. So glad we did. I have nothing but love for this restaurant. It's located by the pool and bar with plenty of outdoor seating available. I love trying tropical fish flavors. Definitely not something you would find in Maryland. We are already planning our next visit. Check them out. You won't be disappointed. Overall 4.5 ratings. read more

I ended up ordering food to go from the bar on my last night as this restaurant is attached to La Concha Resort. I grabbed the Signature 58 burger with Parmesan & truffle fries which was an excellent choice. It didn't take to long for the food to be delivered. read more

Truffle fries are a go to! Our dinner, wagyu pinchos and burger were great! Breakfast was good but the pancakes are definitely not very fluffy / buttermilk like expected. read more

The food was what you would expect for hotel food. There are no vegan options on the menu but you can modify. I had the salad. We also had the local chips (they were different root vegetables and pretty tasty). We also had fries and drinks one day. The drinks were good and there a plenty of options! read more

This cute little spot inside La Concha allows you to pick from several views. The photo showed is my favorite. We stopped here on our first day at the island. We ordered the Nachos and truffle fries. Both were delicious. Nachos con Medalla how can you go wrong?! read more

While staying at the La Concha Renaissance Hotel and enjoying the pool area I ordered an Arugula Salad and Perrier. The salad was served petfectly cold and delicious. It was the kind of meal you could eat every day. Very light but at the same time you feel satisfied after you are fimished eating. It had toasted chicpeas, pieces of avocado, and quinoa as well. Which added a nice texture to the mix. Surprisingly not heavily salted and the dressing was a light lemon vinagerette which complimented the salad perfectly. The rest of the menu looked great and it was wonderful to enjoy and have your order taken while also enjoying the beautiful pool and sun . Service was excellent and accommodating as he setup up my meal at the small table next to my lounge chair. Definitely added to the enjoyment of my stay in Puerto Rico. read more

Solera is located in La Concha hotel/resort - more or less in the middle of the complex - with an atrium courtyard for semi-outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our server was happy to give many recommendations on things to do and places to see when asked. The food was good - I had the Churrasco wrap and my gf had the fish tacos (with mahi mahi as the catch of the day). Both were good but the hot sauce - which had this tangy-ness to it not found in many hot sauces, trust me, I've tried A LOT - was delicious. The prices were a bit high for what you get, but I attribute that to being in an upscale and touristy hotel. read more

I ate at Solera A LOT during my stay at La Concha. I ate several lunches sitting by the pool, and even ordered off the same menu for lunch on the beach (many of the same options also appear to be on the room service menu). I can honestly say that I was never disappointed by the food. I absolutely loved the Churrasco wrap. It was probably one of my favorite things I ate on my entire vacation, believe it or not. My friends and I also really loved sharing the root chips and guacamole. Honestly, the menu can be quite limited, especially during certain times of day. I always found there to be plenty of options, however, for my non-picky palate. The prices are a bit steep for the style of food, but it is a poolside grill at a very nice resort. I think the prices are fair for the setting and the convenience. I also really love the specialty cocktails they offer. I tried quite a few, including the Chambord Mojito and the Blue Sand, both totally delicious. If you're hanging out at the hotel and feeling hungry, Solera is going to be your best (and cheapest) option. It's the only dining spot, I believe, open throughout the entire day, and I love that you can enjoy the menu everywhere from the pool to the beach. It really makes your vacation that much more relaxing. Don't even need to get up from your lounge chair to eat! read more

I enjoyed this to the fullest. We walked away from our hotel at The Vanderbilt, in hopes of finding a nice place for appetizers near a beach or a pool and La Concha's Solera Restaurant was that place! I don't remember what my hubby ordered because he was so tempted by the pool in front of our table that he actually dove in and took a swim! I loved it. The restaurant definitely made me want to stay at the hotel. I will book it on my next trip to San Juan! read more

This hotel has a nice vibe and view but the food is not very good. The restaurant's grill smells like a fast food restaurant so it's unpleasant to sit within 50ft of it. Every dish we ordered was eatable but unimpressive. The mac and cheese was dull, the soup uninteresting, the sushi dry and with non fresh ingredients, and the drinks used cheap alcohol. The server was great. read more

Omg! Usually restaurants inside hotels are mediocre... not this one. Everything is good. The first day we ordered food at the beach with a server the fish tacos were amazing, hot, and the portion is big. The next day we had food by the pool. The pulpo was amazing and the dessert to die for. read more
It's a shame we found not only Solera so late into our trip, but the La Concha hotel as well since both became our delicious, and stylishly well designed, lifeboats during the remaining time we were in Puerto Rico. I know other reviews of Solera have been mentioned in with reviews of La Concha Resort, but the place is so cool and so good, that it deserves its own separate review. Located in the unbelievably hip and beautifuly landscaped/lit outside courtyard of the La Concha, Solera is a tapas restaurant offering small traditional PR fare, but also other things like small pizzas and sushi. There is no defined seatin area with tables pushed close to each other. Rather, it's more like pool service (the pool is out there as well), but there is so much landscaping and secluded niches with couches, chairs, tables and umbrellas, it's almost like you're getting your own private table hideaway in the palm trees. It's a pretty damn nice ambience to say the least. Over the two nights we went we had the following: - Sundried tomato pizza - Veggie sushi roll - Island sushi roll (had fresh cooked plantain on top) - Guac and chips It was all great and far exceeded the other food we had in Puerto Rico. FInally, we were able to get something relatively healthy and not surrounded in deep-fried batter (traditional PR cuisine). Plus, we weren't subjected to sharing a space with obnoxious cruise ship tourists. The service the first night was a tad slow, but the second night was fine. Besides, the outside area is so nice, you want an excuse to hangout. The Solera, at the La Concha Resort, is definitely the place to eat, and stay, in Puerto Rico. read more

The 5 stars mainly goes to the service. We ate at the pool bar several times during our stay. Our bartender Mr Vega was just the best. The hardest working guy there, but still made time to give us awesome things to do in Puerto Rico during our stay. My favorite thing I ate was the Cod Croquettes (I had them 3 times during my stay). Also had some delicious hot sauce. Which we bought a bunch to bring home. read more

The service was excellent! The food was very flavorful! We had the soft lime tuna tacos. They were amazing with the avocado hot sauce!. We also had the Latin sliders they were also amazing with the homemade red hot sauce that was on the table! Gretchen was our server, she was fantastic, & all of her recommendations were great. My drink wasn't strong enough and she went back to the bar & made sure it was strong enough. The atmosphere was great because we are sitting by the pool with colorful lights. read more
