Steve came out to inspect some troubled areas and was incredibly thorough and explained everything to us. Within days we had a quote and a couple weeks later had them scheduled to come out. Over 4 days they treated some areas in our attic and then replaced rotten wood and concerning areas in our eaves and along our roofline. His workers did all of this in the heat of the summer too, but they both did a great job and Steve came out a few times to check their progress and inspect for himself. At the end, the work looked great and parts of our house looked brand new. The total cost was a fraction of what I expected (I had no idea what it would cost but it was a lot less than I worried about haha). We'll look to have them out every 5 years to inspect and ensure any problem areas are fixed before getting really bad. Couldn't recommend them more! read more

I'll start with the bottom line. After 20 years of living in this area and having nothing but terrible experiences with contractors, Steve and the folks at Solo really came through for us. They were honest, fair, professional, on schedule and on budget. Those aren't little things. In fact, we have never found anyone that checked all those boxes in the last 20 years. After our extensive experience with them for woodwork, painting, termites and more, Solo will be our first call from now on. We were very stressed out over all the work that was needed at our home and Steve really put us at ease from day one. As mentioned, we've had nothing but horrendous experiences with contractors. We've had other contractors not show up at all, or try and jack up the price halfway through the job. We've had people rip us off, do damage, the whole nine yards. We may live in a high cost area but we are not rich. We are just working people, trying to keep up with the cost of living. So when it comes time to hire another contractor, my stomach gets in knots. I always expect the worst. First, I did a lot of research online. I know how to spot authentic reviews from fake ones. Out of hundreds of reviews over many years Solo has overwhelmingly positive reviews. The second thing that made me want to call Solo was that they do more than just termite work. We knew we had a lot of work needed and the less contractors and companies we had to deal with, the better. We made an appointment for a free estimate and Steve, the owner, was right on time. He was very polite and professional and really spent a lot of time with us, actually listening to our very specific needs. As mentioned, Steve really put us at ease in a very stressful situation. He is a straight shooter and we knew from the very first meeting, that he was the guy. Our job had several phases and they delivered on all. After the termite and wood work, we wanted to get the entire house painted. We didn't have to lift a finger, other than picking the colors. Steve sent over the best painting crew I have ever worked with. The house looks beautiful and we are so thankful to have found Steve and Solo. We were referred to Solo Termite when we signed up with IM Painting to paint all the wood work on our home in San Clemente. They were highly recommended, so contacted them to give us a bid and do any necessary work prior to having the home painted. Jeff had said "no termites in our attic, however, we took photos and had him check again - yes, there were mostly dead termites all over, so that was added to their bid. Yes...I did the DocUsign agreement and had to check all boxes and sign. One check mark indicated "They are not responsible for any damages"! This is where the problems began. Solo patched many corbels that had dry rot around the home and primed with white paint. When the painters came, they had to pressure wash before painting the wood - most of the patched/primed corbels blew off and exposed all the damaged wood. Solo did come back and made the repairs so the painters could begin. I M Painting discovered some broken tiles when they initially started their work, and gave us a picture. They were so nice to replace these 1st 3 tiles that were found because we had several "on hand". But, when they continued on, they found about 25 or more badly broken tiles and before painting in different areas, they showed us more and more pictures. All were in the area Solo workers would have had to step to make their repairs. Have received a call from the owner, but have not had any offer of compensation. I had several tiles replaced when we bought the home, and no one has been on the roof since (until now). I had a roofing contractor replace them last week @ a very fair price of $500........ read more

I was so impressed with Jeff, our sales representative , Jacob and Jose, who serviced our house replacing extensive amounts of wood, facia, and trim, as well as eliminating termites prior to our painting the entire exterior of our house. If you find yourself unfortunate to have termites call Solo. Get a quote from them and find out for yourself. I got 3 quotes before Solo and I almost didn't get another quote. But I am so glad I got a 4th. No one even came close to their quote they provided. This company is amazing. Emily, Jeff, and Shane were a pleasure to communicate with. They did a great job and are super responsive. In California all the termite companies have to use another company to fumigate. all the companies will tell you this. The one that Solo uses to perform the fumigation were also amazing, friendly and professional. We recently had Solo replace the majority of our balcony in our home which had termite and quite a bit of dry rot damage. It was a large job as they had to prop up the roofline while replacing two large beams. After getting a couple quotes I was very impressed with Steve and Jeff, who came out and thoroughly assessed the damage. They pleasantly surprised me by telling me that I didn't need to replace the entire balcony as the first contractor stated which obviously was going to cost me less. The work crew was great. The guys were quick, always very courteous, and kept things tidy throughout the entire process. The work was of the highest quality and done quicker than estimated. I have dealt with quite a few contractors over the years but due to Solo's integrity and quality of work I would put them at the top. We have paid for the yearly inspection and fixes that they offered for more than 5 years. Initially service was great. Responsive, detailed reports and friendly knowledgeable service. This year after we paid the yearly service fee they failed to show up at the agreed upon time (twice). They did the inspection but sent us no report until I chased them for it. After several emails I got a report which indicated some areas of concern, but not with enough detail to know where or any plan to address. I again emailed the office, they told me I needed the inspector to provide that detail, few more emails to the inspector and no response. Clearly something had changed and I will not be using them anymore going forward read more

They fumigated and killed my cat! Please don't use these guys!! They use a subcontractor called Fumeco. They fumigated the detached garage that wasn't part of the contract. Even though I clearly posted a sign that cats were inside ( I put them there to protect them). Even though I called the night before and verified that they wouldn't fumigate the garage. They let one cat out and fumigated the other causing a painful and horrible death. They are pointing fingers at each other. They agree that a mistake was made but No one is owning up to making the mistake. read more

Can I use negative numbers? 1 is too good for this company. They left nails and other debris during their work which might have endangered the little kids who lived there. They used my tenants patio furniture to stage their work and then broke some of it. They were late with everything they did. Then they "discovered" some work that wasn't in the estimate and managed to wrangle more money from me. Then they left the finish work looking unfinished and they had to come out several times to do a better job. Finally, to add insult to injury, they refused to credit me the $125 inspection fee which is supposed to be returned if they do the work, which they did. Nothing about their work can be recommended. read more

I contacted Solo and was impressed with their personal approach and willingness to spend as much as as necessary with me to answer all my questions. They suggested a termite preventative treatment that is a lot more efficient than what the first company offered and cheaper, long-term. read more

This review should have been left last year, but today was the last straw. I believe it is also my first ever review. Of all the bad (and good) experiences I have had as a consumer, this is the one. They tented our house last year. I think it is a sub contractor that does this part. That didn't go well as when we came back we had symptoms of exposure to the other gas they use to keep humans away, meaning the house wasn't aired out enough. That is a scary thing with kids. They claim it was aired out enough and they test the air for the poison. Fine, but you should also air out the irritant. Worse was that I asked them to replace all of the exterior wood around the windows to prevent further termite infestations. The guy sent to give a quote said we didn't need to replace all of it and said they would take care of the damage for $800. I assumed that meant they would replace all of the damaged pieces since I asked for replacement. Instead they replaced nothing. They (supposedly) used some wood filler in a few places and completely missed others. I called and complained. They sent the guy who gave the quote out again and I pointed out the obvious places they missed. They then sent a worker back out (this is now 4 appointments where time off work was needed). He still missed some spots and the 1 spot I know he worked on was again wood filler and not replaced. I paid $800 for incompetence and a $8 tube of wood filler. I called to complain once more and they never called back. Today I happened to notice new termite droppings under window trim they supposedly fixed. I looked under the wood and it is still unpainted...just plain wood for termites to chew into. If I pay them to fix and prevent termite damage, shouldn't they paint any unpainted spots? If they had just replaced the wood (and hopefully painted it) this new infestation could have been prevented. When I worked in customer service related industries, I didn't try to cut corners, I did a good job even if I lost money on it. They couldn't even do a decent job after 2 attempts. Thanks for costing me more money and allowing more damage to my house. read more

We contacted them when we observed termite damage & were told we'd have to start a new account and be charged at a higher rate. We relented to a home visit, and the owner's son was very apologetic. Again, a problem with the notice & when called the woman said she had no record of the conversation & we were back to where we started. We seek out companies that act like they want our business. Throughout the process, he acted as a "Private Eye" to find my pests and meticulously scoured every inch of the home to find where they were living. Once he found my pests, he was very excited to exterminate them. lol. This is a guy that has true passion for his work and takes it seriously with integrity. Solo Termite is lucky to have this employee. The other employees are also knowledgeable, courteous and very flexible to my needs. Their pricing is also very competitive.
