It was $5 martinis I had the espresso martini and my friend had the lychee martini

[[HIGHLIGHT]]All the above - the inside is absolutely beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hostesses were great. Our favorite sushi place was closed down. And I had been here one time before. The service was good. Everything was paced and it was very good. The service was great. I don't really have anything negative, except the size of the pieces of the rolls were very small however, I am also aware that with restaurants and the economy, you know it was still really good. I definitely noticed the change in the portion. There was still eight pieces. They just used to be way bigger. But at least they're still open. We will be back on a Tuesday for the amazing martinis!!!

Good affordable date night spot! I'm in between 3-4 stars. Sushi was above average and large portions. We split two rolls and some nigiri to try and test quality. Rolls were good! Nigiri was lacking and I felt it wasn't quite worth the price. I also wish we didn't order the edamame flavored because it was a very large amount of garlic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere and enjoyed my meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would recommend trying the bar seating as you get a great view of the chefs![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Local sushi spot on Washington. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of parking up front and the interior is fairly nice for this area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of fish options for nigiri, sashimi, and rolls along with the usual options at a Japanese spot. We got a couple of rolls (3/5), and some nigiri ranging from tuna, snapper, to unagi and scallop (3/5). The nigiri fish quality was alright. Their sushi rice wasn't my favorite and I had a lot of pieces without the rice. Their pickled ginger also was a bit subpar since it serves as a palate cleanser. Overall, the pieces definitely tasted more like a local neighborhood spot rather than the higher end sushi experience that they're trying to emulate.

Scallop & foie gras nigiri and Japanese A5 waygu nigiri

Service was good but the food is incredibly underwhelming the Japanese "A5 waygu" was rubbery and not very flavorful like the rest of the food the price doesn't match the quality King of kings roll also notably flavorless very small pieces for $24 feels like a scam I unfortunately spent $150 on dinner for 2 and I am still hungry

Good variety of fusion of food fo choose from. Good presentations, good quality. Overall, I enjoyed it. Good service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Chill ambiance--pretty casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend their edemame--the spicy or the garlic is fabulous!!!

Fairly decent size menu. Can only really speak to the sushi and a few apps. The crazy Irishman is a tempura fried roll so a little on the heavy side but good. The mini destiny gives you a trio of sashimi, and regular peppered tuna. Simple and delicious but remembered peppered tuna is a little too peppery for me. Upgrade your edamame to the spicy garlic seasoned edamame. The chicken karaage was nicely fried with tender pieces of chicken and a complementary dipping sauce. Tip: Happy Hour on food and drinks all day Sunday.

Sashimi trio- (salmon, tuna, yellowtail) The three sauces its served with compliment the fish so well.

This place has been one of my go-to sushi spots for years, and it never disappoints. While it's more of a relaxed, neighborhood-style restaurant, the quality is consistently excellent. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are well balanced, the menu has several options, and everything tastes like it's made with care and intention. What really keeps us coming back, though, is the people. Chef Omi, Jasmine, and Kiet are incredibly hospitable and always make a point to check in, remember us, and make sure we're having a great experience. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests, and that kind of attention goes a long way. Their happy hour is hands-down our favorite. The menu has great options at a solid value, perfect for a casual night out or a relaxed dinner that still feels like a treat. The lychee martini deserves a special mention, it's light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Sherisse, our favorite bartender makes it just right. We end up ordering one every single time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for a reliable sushi spot with great food, friendly faces, and a welcoming atmosphere/staff, this place is absolutely worth it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's the kind of restaurant you keep coming back to and recommending to friends.

    Spicy Tuna Roll
    Bryan V.

Came here after a running club since they had a partnership with them for an extended happy hour! I personally tried the spicy tuna roll, spicy chicken skewers, and calamari. The spicy tuna roll was pretty good, they didn't skimp out on the tuna at all and there wasn't too much rice which is a big criteria for me. The spicy chicken skewers were just okay. I wasn't a fan of how the spicy sauce tasted, I think I should've just gotten the original. The way the calamari was breaded wasn't my favorite either, I prefer it to be crispier. Overall, a good value for happy hour but not something I'd come back for unfortunately.

Honestly this place was just pretty average. The staff were extremely friendly, but the food was below something being extraordinary or even exciting. I thought the dishes lacked much flavor or specialness, specially the crazy Irish man and the madai champagne. The ramen noodles also did not have the correct noodles in them, and you could tell the quality of the meat was not good by the cut and how fatty the pork was. The dishes overall were good don't get me wrong, but they were nothing unique. Compared to all of the other sushi and Japanese restaurants in Houston, I would try somewhere else if I were to be completely honest!

My friend and I went when we were craving sushi. They had lunch deals and the sushi was pretty fresh. The agedashi tofu was amazing with the perfect amount of crispiness.

The food is good and the restaurant is nice. Great ambiance/atmosphere. Service was sort of slow for a "not so busy" day but the sushi definitely made up for it! A good friend of mine had been recommending this place for a while now. The King of Kings Roll was nice, bit of spice and the salmon was delicious. The nigiri was great. I dont remember what pieces my friend ordered but they sure were tasty. The gyoza is a bit meatier than other dumplings ive had in the past. Japanese Wagyu Shumai was also very good! I'd definitely recommend this place to other people! -Santangelo Balli Gonzales

So yummy! Amber and Chef Hector were amazing and so nice! Food was creative and phenomenal!

I had a great experience at ramen Tatsu-ya. It was my first time here & I was very impressed…read more I ordered the "mi-so-hot" & it was amazing. First - the ramen came out super fast. I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Sushi Flight (6 Pieces, 4 Flavors) - Somehow 1,050 calories??? - Raw Salmon x2 - Strangely, I would have liked this colder. It was just okay. - Cooked Salmon x2 - I liked this a lot more than the raw salmon because it had a deeper flavor. - Scallops - Probably my favorite thing on this platter because of the smokiness they imbue with the torching. The sweet aftertaste was definitely worthwhile. - Shrimp - Not as fresh as I would have liked, as someone who's eaten a lot of shrimp, but I still liked the taste. Still, pretty mediocre. Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom.
