Ordered the carne asada fries based on the photo on the website. You know, the one with guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. What showed up was carne asada and cheese. That's it. Apparently the photo is not the default version. Cool. Then why show it? If the extras are imaginary, just say so. Keeping the menu simple would probably save everyone some confusion and keep customers happy. Not mad. Just annoyed. Which is somehow worse. read more

I still would recommend Sombreros even tho today I picked the food up and it was cold and the burritos tortilla was kinda hard. There was literally no customers in there when I went and I walked in before the girl at the register put it in the bag. The girl was friendly . My only complaint is the food was cold , my rolled tacos were and so was my husbands burrito. I love that you guys have a rewards program especially since today's prices are so high. My go to Mexican shop when I'm looking for combo plates is Sombrero Mexican Food off Sweetwater Rd. Their beans and rice are what I I would expect from all Mexican shops. When I walked in, I noticed an advertisement to download their new app to earn points and to receive promotional offers. I had my daughter confirm the prices on the app were the same as in store (they were). I placed my order via the app and every option including all the entrees and different sides were available to be selected (see screenshots). I always choose no drink to save $0.50. Did get a free Orange Bang Drink for signing up. I asked for no ice and for the refill, my man scrapped off the foam with a knife to make sure I would receive a full drink. Hell yeah and thank you! All of our entrees were made perfectly and were delicious. We had the following: two Carne Asada Tacos (one with extra cilantro & onions, box was marked as such), one Beef Taco, two beef enchiladas (my wife and I think their Mole/enchilada sauce is hands down one of the best in all of San Diego), a cheese enchilada, and rolled tacos. Sorry, we were so hungry, we didn't stop to take any photos.‍ While I think the prices have gotten a little out of hand (not a Sombrero specific issue), I'm happy to see the quality and quantity of their food is still there. Last few of comments: 1. Customer service is top notch. I've only been treated well at this location. 2a. The old help yourself salsa bar has been gone since COVID. 2b. Always ask for the chunky salsa. It's their best option. 2c. They only give two salsas per item/entree. I've asked for a couple extra and it depends who is working on whether they charge you or not. In my opinion, it should be three (one for each entree and another for the rice & beans). Think McDonald's chicken nuggets, you get once sauce for six nuggets, but three for a 20-piece when it should be rounded up to four sauces. read more

The Mexican food is good and definitely filling. I like how they have a website to order ahead and also have a rewards system to entice you to keep going back there for more food. I have only ever used their to-go service, since I go there for lunch. Ambiance is casual and the seating area is small. I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food I've had, but it does the job and I think the only thing I would point out is the cleanliness. The times I've been there, there's trash on the floors under tables that customers don't seem to notice and just step on. The employees are all nice people and they are very quick and fast to get orders out as best they can, even when they're busy. read more

The best flavored food. We ordered a carne asada burrito and the meat was delicious with fresh guacamole and cheese. The pico on the side was fresh, not soggy like it's been sitting there for a while. Food was prepared fast and good, at this location the burrito came with a side of chips. Cashier and manager where nice and friendly. The dinner room was clean and inviting. All around an awesome experience. Definitely our new Sombrero favorite spot.
