I tried those waffles first time in Korea. I am glad that they are so readily available now here. I am a big Nutella fan and of course love the Nutella filled ones. The red bean filling is too sweet for me. In summer I love the combo with ice cream. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of seating in there but great to grab and go! read more

They do a great job at what they do. Great flavor and pretty affordable in this economy. Yogurtland can go well over $10 sometimes depending on how much you put on there. Somisomi? Always $6.95. My go-to order is an "Upside-down Matcha/Ube swirl with Nutella or Matcha Custard with a strawberry and matcha powder for the topping. Ivan was extremely patient & kind when we placed our order. They have a restroom for customers and there is no inside seating but they do have a bench outside. This location does not accept cash so bring your card payments. There is street and shared parking in the back lot for all of the nearby stores. read more

I had no idea this place was here so I'm glad I found it. I'm so glad to have more traditional Asian flavored ice cream. I do wish they had a gluten free taiyaki but it is what it is. You can also get a cup of soft serve. The match ube swirl was really good and I added rhe red bean as well. Cute packaging. They also give you a macaroni or strawberry on top. Prices were good. This place got busy quickly and I wish they had some sort of seating for disabled folks. Service was OK tho it was hard to hear her talking over the music I'd definitely come back for other flavors. read more

I get it because I worked in food service for many years but the girl working today just had a bit of an attitude . And I apologize so much if I wasn't as attentive when I was called or when I asked for a spoon as I was attending to my two young kids. I know there were a lot of customers at that time also so I don't blame her but I guess she couldn't hold her sighs and disgusted look under her mask. I wish there were different sizes available - you are limited to a fairly large ice cream cup and I could do a smaller option. I also wish there was an option with a cup that's separated- so you could mix and match flavors. They don't offer samples - so they should do a sample cup you could buy to get a tiny taste of the flavors. My favorite is the ube with the taro filled fish. The fish is kind of like a fresh waffle - it's delicious. read more

Cool spot with non-dairy soft serve! There are several flavors and combinations available. I tried the ahboong with Ube and Sesame swirl with a custard filling. I added fruity pebbles on top as well and it was really yummy! I was excited to try as I'd seen other taiyaki spots floating around and was curious about this place. The size of the desert is pretty good and def satisfied my sweet tooth. This place was pretty popular on a Sunday evening and there was a little bit of a wait, which I was surprised about. The staff moved fairly quickly and were all very kind. Next time I'll want to try their matcha flavor or cookies and cream, or both! Love that they have so many flavor combos! read more

Park in the back where they share a parking lot with other businesses. There is no seating at all. I wish they have 2 seater tables or high stools. It took them about 20-25 mins for them to make. The price was cheap for 2. I wish they had ube or matcha flavor. The taro Taiyaki had a mochi texture. I wish there was more taro filling instead of the dough. This place does get packed at night. read more

somi somi is very filling for some reason, you get a lot for almost $7- soft-serve, toppings, and the fish filled with whatever you'd like. i loooove their ube soft-serve topped off with fruity pebbles and a strawberry. i always get the fish (ik its called something but im not cultured so im sorry) with nutella. its not overbearingly sweet and you get so much soft serve you almost cant even finish it!! i will note that some are their flavors aren't very "flavorful"-- the chocolate is kinda dull, i mean its just soft serve so i guess you can't really expect anything special. i dont really like their cookies n cream and the milk flavor tastes like nothing. read more

After dinner nearby, we ventured to SomiSomi for dessert. I wanted to try the chocolate and cookies and cream ice creams but unfortunately, they couldn't mix two soft serve ice creams. So, I was left with the options they had in the swirl. I ended up getting the milk tea and cookies and cream in a cup with the nutella filled taiyaki on top. I was excited about the toppings and I asked for cookies, fruity pebbles, graham crackers, and coconut flakes. Our creations looked very pretty but I was more concerned about how they tasted. The milk tea overpowered the cookies and cream but the consistency of the soft serve was good. The soft serve was quite high in the cup putting the taiyaki on top of it made it too heavy. Unfortunately it fell off as I walked down the street. My sister let me try hers though and it was pretty good. For $6.95, I thought the portions were plentiful, making it a really good deal. I would return t and try other flavors when I'm back in the area. read more

This place is so yum! The soft serve is so delicious and full of flavor it's not too sweet but still sweet which I appreciate. The fish waffles are the best part of the dessert in my opinion you can choose what flavor filling you want in the fish waffles and they go so well with the soft serve because the waffles are warm and crispy when you first get them. The staff are nice and welcoming and help you with recommendations if you ask. I like how the place is yellow it's different and brings a happy vibe. read more

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 We love coming here for a sweet treat after dinner! We usually opt to share the Upside Down Ah-boong, which is a custard-filled taiyaki (fish-shaped waffle cone) on top of your Korean-style soft serve of choice. It's never too sweet (true Asians know this is a compliment). But the taiyaki can be a hit or miss - some days it has nice mochi-like chewy texture with a bit of crunch, and other days it's hard and brittle. There's always a flavor of the month along with the other set flavors. I was so excited to have this open in Long Beach only to be quite disappointed that milk tea isn't one of the set flavors, unlike the Somisomi spot in West L.A. Each month, I always poke my head in to see if milk tea is finally a monthly flavor. Somisomi, if you're reading this, PLEASEEE add milk tea to your set menu in Long Beach! If you do, I promise to come at least once a week. Service is usually friendly enough, but I think it kind of sucks that you can't get samples like any other standard ice cream/soft serve shop. Especially since you have to commit to a giant cup of it and it's not cheap. Keep in mind there is no seating, only some tall tables for you to stand and eat at. read more

I never take the picture for the taiyaki because I always devour it in the quickness. The Nutella taiyaki is my favorite snack - freshly made and perfectly ooey-gooey goodness. The waffle is always soft, but still has a crunch to every bite. My daughter got the upside ah boong and I thought it was so cute they gave a heart shaped macaron for Valentine's Day Service was friendly, place was clean, and best of all we came when there was no line. I got excited being in the area because I usually go to the del amo mall location and the line there is always long, or I arrive just as they are closing. Safe to say, my long-awaited craving is satisfied. If you haven't tried this place, it's a must. At least a one time experience, but really, you'll come back for more. read more

SOMISOMI is always a great time and having a freshly made warm pastry is a must need after dinner. Th service is great and they make the taiyakir right in front of you. Their matcha ice cream is absolutely delicious and my favorite filling is either the red bean or their vanilla custard. Since it is in Long Beach, there is very little street parking so plan accordingly. They also have this cute little photo opportunity so be sure to take a photo while you're there. read more

Oh ice cream, how I love thee! But alas, Asian ancestors had no exposure to dairy products until much later in history But never fear, SomiSomi is here! Non-dairy ice cream! (With the exception of their milk flavor). The best part is that they even have Ube flavored ice cream! As a Filipino American, one of the things I miss about visiting the Philippines is being able to get Ube ice cream almost anywhere I go. In the United States, even in California, it's not too easy to to find Ube ice cream. All the flavors I've tried so far are really yummy, and the toppings go perfectly with every flavor! If you have the extra room in your tummy, do yourself a favor and buy some Taiyaki! When it's fresh, it's just the right amount of crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside! It's especially good with all that filling inside too! So glad this place exists! read more

One of my top 3 favorite ice cream places ! Love this soft serve with the taiyaki 10/10 recommend. The flavors change I'm assuming every week not to sure. I love the basic vanilla and cookies n cream. Recently tried just the taiyaki and man it's my new favorite. It's like the most soft stuffed pancake, especially love the custard and Nutella. When getting the soft serve you get a chance to pick toppings like a macaron cookie, oreo crumbs etc. Parking is kinda limited and small there's parking in the back. Inside there are no chairs just tall tables to stand and eat your ice cream. This place is popular so line will be out the door but it moves quick. read more

I have been coming to this location for a while and tonight the service was great as always. My friend and I ordered the matcha ube swirl, as that is our favorite flavor. I love the ube ice cream for its signature vibrant purple color and the distinct ube taste that isn't too sweet. It has become one of my favorite ube desserts. But tonight, I looked at the matcha ube swirls ahead of us and noticed the ube ice cream color was different. It was significantly lighter like a pastel purple. When my friend and I tasted our ice cream, the "ube" flavor did not taste same. It was definitely taro. There is a clear difference to the taste. It was still good, but we were a bit disappointed and confused that this is clearly taro listed as ube. Is this a permanent change to the ube flavor or just a temporary thing? Or if this specifically for LB store vs nationwide change? We're just confused as all of Somi Somi's posts (except one March post) still shows the ube flavor as the iconic vibrant purple. If anyone else has noticed this change, please let me know. thank you! read more

Taiyaki on a hot summer evening, yes please! This location was clean, had good customer service, a restroom, and tall standing tables. The pictures help make your choice easier. The soft serve was delicious and the taiyaki cut the sweetness of the matcha/Ube flavor. Unique for a dessert spot or for those missing Japan. I came here after dinner during the week on a colder night and actually there were more customers in here than I thought there'd be. The girl who helped me was friendly and the service was good although I will say it's disappointing you can't try any ice cream to sample. My dad never had Ube before and I wanted him to try a sample but we were denied. As far as the ice cream goes, I REALLY like that the ice cream here is not too sweet. Often times I go to places, the ice cream is wayyyy too sweet. This place was a perfect balance and didn't make me feel awful after going down on my dessert post dinner. I recommend this place to others! There's nowhere to sit inside, but they do have a high top table surrounding the wait area that is ideal to stand and go ham into your ice cream read more

I always stop by whenever I'm craving a soft serve or taiyaki, or both! I love the different flavors they have and how they aren't your standard vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Service is always very friendly and prompt, and there usually isn't too many people so you can wait in peace. PRO-TIP: Get the upside down ahboong because the ice cream does tend to melt pretty fast (learned this the hard way and spilled on my hoodie) read more

Sausages didn't seem homemade but were very tasty. I ordered the Eggs Noni, which is a version of Eggs Florentine, plus a side of bacon. The Eggs Noni came on two pretty hard small sourdough discs. I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.
