I just left this establishment not 3 minutes ago because the service here is horrible. We were not even greeted when we entered the hostess just sat us down and told us a server would be with us soon. After ten minutes goes by we were even introduced or talked to. The waitress just kept serving other tables and cleaning up other table and still didn't even acknowledge us. This staff seemed to be run by a bunch a kids and didn't even look like a manager was on duty. Would never return here again. read more

I love Sonny's for their of course, ribs, and their mac & cheese. My boyfriend and I went to Sonny's a while back for lunch. Usually, at most restaurants, I order off the kids menu because I really don't eat a lot. This Sonny's was the first restaurant to give me a problem (the one in Zephyrhills gives no problem), and denied a kids menu. The food is expensive and a waste of money for someone who is not even going to eat half of it. I ended up getting a side order of mac & cheese, and a sprite. The place is clean, the food is good. All the servers look like they'd rather be somewhere else, and aren't very friendly. Definitely more a fan of the Zephyrhills location. read more

It took us 10 minutes of confusion to get seated despite the restaurant being half empty. Upon finally being seated we were informed that they were sold out of pulled pork. Then 10 minutes after placing our order we were informed they were out of sweet potatoes. Another 5 minutes later we were told they were out of the beef brisket. Finally our food arrived. Service here is very slow compared to other Sonny's. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. read more

Visiting Tampa from Ottawa, Canada and decided to try Sonny's as it was convenient and I had been there in the past and enjoyed my meal. Although the food was just average (brisket and pulled chicken were pretty dry, but the ribs were quite good), what made our experience was our server. I wish I knew her name because she was outstanding! A wonderful sense of humour and very attentive. Overall a good value for price and very family friendly. read more

Always make it a point to have lunch at one of the many Sonny's along I-75 in Florida when I head there from Virginia for some spring training games every March. Their barbecue (whether it be brisket, pork or chicken) always is great and so are their ribs. We ate lunch here today. Amber was our server and she was great! Friendly and answered our questions, made recommendations, frequented our table for refills, and was attentive throughout the time we were there. Husband had the baby back ribs, fries and baked beans, I had the pulled chicken sandwich with mac and cheese and added the salad bar - we each had a drink (mine came free with the lunch special) and bill was $28. All the food was good. We are from out of the area and don't have this chain where we live and usually always visit at least once during our vacation. It seems that Sonnys doesn't get very good reviews. Food seems consistent each time we go, everything seems clean and staff has always been friendly enough. There was one time last year we went in for dinner and were seated in the area called the back porch, it's just the furthest area back and has a whole slew of booths - it was around a 4 or 4:30 time and there was maybe one other table sitting there. We were sat and a server never came.... another table was sat and got waited on immediately and that server walked by our table at least 3 times and never stopped... of course I was getting torked, but figured she must not have been our server, I get it - but surely she could have noticed we hadn't been waited on and could have told the server on that section she had a table?! Finally I got up to see what was going on and who knows what was going - was the server just goofing off and not watching her tables to see if she got sat? Did the hostess not tell her she sat her? Anyway, she came and it all worked... I guess I could have written a bad review at the time and never went back, but I try to chalk things like this to meh, it happens sometimes.... be forgiving... I am a server myself and have been for 27 years - my advice to any server is be attentive to your customers, make their experience memorable, if the opportunity presents itself to make conservation do so, most people you meet are amazing! read more

I'm so disappointed! I decided I order a turkey for thanks giving this year instead of cooking one myself so of course I thought of my local sonnys. I was told that I would have to prepay for the turkey which I happily did. I was so excited...but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. When I arrived to pick up my turkey I discovered that my sonnys turkey was actually a pre-cooked butterball turkey that they had thawed. I wasn't really getting a homemade turkey at all. I was getting a $20 turkey and being charged the $40 sonnys price. I'm angry and my family is quite upset. The manager failed to mention that they weren't making the turkeys. I feel VERY mislead. What a horrible thing to do to especially during the holidays! this location is a franchise and not a corporate store and the owner should take pride in his business and his community. I will be hard pressed to do business here again. Thanks sonnys, thanks thoughtless business owner, thanks shady manager. Thanks for ruining my Thanksgiving! read more

Came through the drive thru and ordered two big salads and 20 piece wings. When I got home, 10 miles away, and opened my salad it was not what I had ordered yet it was something that looked like someone else had been eating out of. The salad had dressing all over the lettuce and a load of meat stacked inside! It looked like a ceaser salad with a load of smoked turkey. So I called back to this location and asked to speak to the manager because my dinner had been spoiled for the night and I was too far to go back. She asked for my address and told me she would send me certificates for lunch/dinner for two. A week later I received a coupon for 1 free entree with a drink. Not what the manager (Laurie I think) promised! The service here is terrible and slow. Zephryhills is a much better location! Always check your orders before leaving here! read more

I stopped in here for lunch the other day really just wanted a salad and quick bite to eat. At every other sonnys that I've been to I was offered the choice of using one of my side dishes for my meal. for a one trip usage of the salad bar .not at this place they proceeded to tell me that they didn't trust their customers. that people would take advantage of them . So I kinda took it personal like they were calling me a liar or a thief. So I bought the salad bar full price. the lettuce was hot .not cold. not warm but it was like it was put on a hot plate. the stuff on the salad bar was not fresh .don't know about all of it but what I had was not. When she came to take my order she evidently was preoccupied and while reading my order back to me she got it wrong 3 times. By the time I got my food I was ready to go .pso I asked for a box and a to go cup for my drink. And the check. she brought me my box forgot my check and my to go cup. I waited 10 minutes for her to bring my check and my to go cup I finally just got up and started walking to the cashier. she evidently saw me and was like okay I'll get it to you in a minute sir. Evidently another one of the waitresses noticed what was going on, and came over and took care of me. got my bill for me. got me a to go cup made sure everything was okay. they knew something fell off at this point. won't be coming back here read more

Avoid like the plague. Me wife and I ate at this sonny's and she ordered all dark meat chicken. The waitress brought our food and promptly left before asking if everything was okay. My wife had received all white meat. We flagged down the server and notified her of the mistake. She went to the kitchen and returned with a plate and took the chicken that she already served back into the kitchen. Then returned with the dark meat chicken. My wife and I found this very odd. Usually a restaurant will not take back food once it's been served. Were they going to resell the chicken they already served by mistake? We asked to speak to the management about this strange act and the manager said it was policy to take the food back. Very shady to me. I will not return and I would suggest the same to you. read more

Stopped in this afternoon (@12:45) with daughter for salad bar, after placing drink order went to look at salad bar, and it looked as if it was left over from the night before. Nothing was fresh on the salad bar, eggs were soggy, shredded cheese hard, soup pot had less than 1/4 in it and appeared to have been left over from night before. It was disgusting, so I asked for check for drinks, and when asked if everything was ok, I let server know we had stopped in for salad bar and it did not look fresh. She gave me check, I paid, and couple minutes later she came back and handed me my money and told me manager said no charge and take my drinks and go. I will not be back to this location for sure. read more

Was very disappointed in our recent visit. They were out of beef and brisket. No more all you can eat deals and we were given one piece of garlic bread. No wonder the restaurant was empty! The menu prices are high and competitive to other chain restaurants like Outback and Texas Roadhouse. I won't be going back to Sonny's any time soon! read more

I have been to this Sonny's before and the service was ok, and the food was good. But on the last occasion, both me and my daughter-in-law got SICK after eating there! I wrote to the Sonny's in Wesley Chapel, and received a "form letter"! The cornbread (usually delicious) was hard as a rock and dry. I knew when I tasted my food, that it didn't taste right. I tried covering it up with BBQ sauce. I couldn't eat it. This Sonny's is not THAT busy! Why can't the Manager give me a call, and at least try to get me to come back? I tried calling corporate, (3:30PM) but it is an answering machine. I looked for Jeff Yarmuth's (President) e-mail address with no success... I am NOT happy.... read more
