It feels like I've been here before. Somewhere in Jardines there is a place very much like this, the 'rustic urban' decor, a large grill, and even the color palette for the signage and the interior strike an uncanny resemblance to Tanos Grill. However it may be, the chain/franchise has opened its first outpost in the area, ready to deliver on grilled meats, tacos, and everything in between.
The menu is large and akin to that of Tanos' in shape and length. The tacos are of the larger variety and they also have some unique options that are not typically found in other taquerias, very much like Tanos. However, in comparison to the aforementioned restaurant, it seems that Sonora Beef uses lesser quality meats and the cheese here is horrible. While filling, the food here does not fully satisfy the pallet, at least for those of us who enjoy quality over quantity.
While trying to avoid the debate of knowing who came first, either Sonora Beef or Tanos, I would much rather prefer the latter over the former. This is where chain restaurants sometimes fail, even though their space and overall look appears more structured and complete, delivering on quality always seems to be their undoing. read more
