It's hard to imagine a Grill being romantic... however, this one is. The high ceilings and bottles of fine liquor spaced perfectly up the entire walls of this restaurant gives you all the good feels, along with the crazy good music and very flavorful tapas we enjoyed. The lightly fried avocado was my favorite Go for the food, service and atmosphere and I promise you will have a great time. read more

I gave this restaurant five stars the first time we went, which was on a Wednesday around 5:00. We went back on a Friday at 8:00 and it was a completely different experience. I think the music was even louder than the first time we went. Have you folks ever heard of a cochlea? Because y'all are going to be wishing you had one that wasn't damaged in a few years! It was way too warm in the restaurant and the service was mediocre too. The food is great though.... Can't knock 'en there. read more

Qué rico todo! Everything is so good here! We were seated and quickly brought chips and bean dip with 6 kinds of salsa: 3 spicy and 3 mild, all full of flavor. Our drinks were taken immediately as well, the margarita here is well balanced and enjoyable. Get 2. I ordered a rib eye and it did not disappoint. Very tender and flavorful. My side was mushrooms, which were fine but not exciting. My honey had a new York strip, which he enjoyed as well. Sopa fideo and French fries are so tasty, too. Service was excellent. A great date night (but music is a little loud) or after dinner with Co workers. read more

Needed a great spot for my best friends birthday on our first night in Mexico City and Sonora Grill did not disappoint. Having traveled all over the world, this was honestly one of the best meals I've had while traveling. Our waiter Carlos was on top of our every need and the 2-4-1 Mezcal shots were just an added bonus. If you're looking for a special occasion restaurant with beautiful ambience and great house music, this is your spot. Certainly worth the Uber ride we took across the city to get here. This is the type of restaurant you've passed everyday on your way from/to work. You never notice it, but when you do it changes things. This restaurant had been opened for as long as I can remember when I used to live in mexico. So you know there's something keeping it where it is. It also isn't some rundown place with home style cooking. It's a very hip loungue, with a bar, and fancy restaurant with amazing decore. The staff like much of the staf in mexico is attentive and helpful with everythign and anything in the menu. They will bring you out examples from the kitchen if that was your desire. That day I didn't feel too hungry but I did try everything everyone was able to bring out to share. Initially I ordered a meat juice soup. A soup I love when I'm in mexico, it's said to cure hangovers, just so ya' know ;). Anyhow, the soup was good an authentic, pretty big portion for what I expected out of such a fancy place. My boyfriend Austin wanted to lean away from meat that day so he ordered their spaghetti carbonara. The plate arrived beautifully garnished with a cooked tomato, and the pasta sitting there delicately. He enjoyed and devoured it, I'm not a big fan of carbonara because of the taste from the meat but I thought it was very well made. We ordered some tacos for the center, Los Tacos gobernador, which were very good. Especially with their amazing 6 sauces. My favorite ones were the spicy peanut sauce and the tamarind sauce. I was also able to steal some of my familie's french fries with the sauces they're soo good, and some skillet potatoes that were ordered as a side. For dessert we ordered a chocolate lava cake which was rather small and hard to share but deliciously decadent and worth having especially since we all shared I was plenty happy with that portion. On the way out they also give you complementary ice cream Mango or Lime which is made in house. It is very healthy and pure gelatto, DELICIOSO! Great trip! Love the place, great atmosphere and vibe. The only downside is that it was pretty dark and hard to read the menu and they have a live DJ playing great house music, but it was too loud and hard to talk to our friends at dinner. The service was GREAT and the food was TASTY. We usually go to Mex city twice a year and stop here every time! they have a steak tray (similar to a dessert tray, but they show you the STEAKS ha) nice selection of steak and wine. read more

I have twice ordered "combination #1" NY steak, soup, quesadea, and more - even includes a glass of wine. Their margaritas are also good. They play music videos on their many screens with a good selection of music. This place is not quiet nor intimate, but it is classy and a good deal for their moderately priciness. read more
