Every single time I have to go here due to my doc's lab being closed, it is a miserable experience. Absolutely zero sense of urgency no matter how many frustrated patients are waiting. If you get out of there in under 90 minutes consider yourself very lucky. Today not being acknowledged for five minutes standing at the front desk was a nice touch. At one point there were 10 patients checked in waiting, and 12 people waiting to check in in a small area. I waited for almost 2 hours. Avoid this place if possible, absolutely horrible. I was worried as I waited in line before they opened but from the very friendly lady who opened and greeted us to all the very friendly and efficient staff I was in and out in 20 min w/o an appointment. This review is about "patient ordered lab tests." I went to the Frye Road location and had about $200 of lab tests performed. I went to this location as a walk in and it took about 1.5 hours. When I walked in there was a woman at the desk (who appeared to be doing nothing) who told me to sign in, go sit in the waiting area, and someone would call me back up to register. About 30 minutes passed. The woman assigned to the desk never helped anyone. It was always the people drawing blood that would check people in. After signing in it took another 30 -40 minutes before I was called back, and then finally I was called back. As I was driving home I remembered something that the woman checking me in said and I thought there might be an error on my lab paperwork. When I got home I tried to call the center to make sure my paperwork was okay. The number went to an automated recording that told me to call another phone number, and when I called that other number, I got another automated recording telling me to call the first number. I then spent about 30 minutes on the web site trying to find a phone number where I could talk to a human being and was unable. So the next day I drove back down to the center to discuss my paperwork. I told them about my experience and how disappointed I was that I had to take more time off from work to drive there to ask a question that could be handled easily over the phone. They said I was calling the wrong number to contact someone (the number on my receipt) and they gave me a business card with a number I could call supposedly to get directly to them. I also asked when my results would be in and they said 2 - 4 days and gave me another business card with a number I could call for my test results. On my way out I noticed a sign with the phone number of office manager at that location, and took down the info so I could call her and share my experience. When I got home I looked at the card with the number that was supposed to get me directly to the Frye Road location and it was the same number that was on my receipt and leads to an automated recording. The second number they gave me for test results leads to a voice mailbox where the person doesn't identify their name or that they are with Sonora Quest. The message says just to leave your name and number and someone will get back to you "in most cases" by the end of the day. So then I called the office manager at the Frye Road location where I got voice mail again. I left a message and 4 days later I have yet to get a call back from her. And I have yet to get my test results. My next step is to drive to the Tempe headquarters where you supposedly can get your results. I can't confirm this because there is no phone number where you can talk to a human. If that fails I will contact my credit card company to stop payment for the lab work. I've used Sonora Quest through my doctor's office before without problems. But it's an entirely different story when you try to use the patient-order lab tests. read more

I've never had my blood drawn for an allergy test before, and this location was the closest to home so I decided to come here. The first time I came here, I actually had a pleasant experience. The lady at the front desk was nice, and I was seen quickly without having to wait long. The person who drew my blood was friendly and knowledgeable and the experience was over within 20 minutes or so. Quick and easy. I was glad I got it over with!! Then, about two days or so later, I get a voicemail from the person who drew my blood that they actually misplaced my blood samples, and id have to come in again to draw more blood. Um, what? You lost my blood? I received a huge ugly bruise for nothing? Really made me wary to come back in... but again this place is close to home, so I left work early (again) and came in and stated I was back again since my blood sample was misplaced. I was able to avoid a long wait due to the accident which was okay, but once I sat down the Asian woman who was drawing my blood now noticed the huge bruise on my left arm. She clicked her tongue and told me I didn't have "the vein" by looking over my arms and told me the top of my hand would have to do. This worried me never having my blood drawn by my hand before, I asked her if it hurt more and she replied, "well, you don't have the vein so..."....very reassuring. Once she put it into the top of my hand, she kept wiggling the needle inside and telling me to stop tensing up and to relax. I noticed not a lot of blood was coming out and the pain was intense to say the least... after a while she removed the needle, told me to put pressure on it and told me I just couldn't relax enough. I have to admit it was very hard to. Once I left, I went home to put a bandaid over the site where the blood was drawn and I was horrified to see a huge painful lump under my skin which ive never seen before!! I was super worried!!! I called back to the office, and the woman I spoke to asked if I received any aftercare instructions. That was a big fat no for both experiences. She put me on hold for a while, came back and told me to ice it and to go to my primary doctor if it bothered me. Wow. I had to ask one of my nurse friends what the heck was happening. She told me it was a "blown vein" which is when they pierce the vein through which causes blood to seep under my skin. Awesome. My hand was blue and painful for days. I've received this second blood drawn a week ago from today and still have heard nothing when I was told it was going to take 3 - 4 business days. read more

I am usually fearful of needles and blood and get faint when I do get my blood drawn. The phlebotomist named Syed was extremely phenomenal. He made good conversation and the whole process of getting two vials filled took under a minute. He knew about my nervousness and made funny and nice conversation, I couldn't help but ask "that's it? We're done?". The front receptionists were friendly and got me in and out quick, as I arrived early before opening. Syed will be my future requested phlebotomist. read more

I would give it less if I could. Came in Wed to get drawn. Too busy made an appointment for Friday 11:15 guy at front desk made a copy of my orders. signed in .at 11:12. It is now 12:03. First,they overlooked my sign in - no apology. Second couldn't find orders. I had to look up Dr info guess they don't know how to Google. The staff has zero personality. I would avoid this at all costs. Worst drawn station ever and I have worked in the medical field . So I just saw Sonora quests canned response. I saw the managers number on the wall, let's see if I get a call. I did leave her a message. If all else fails I will get another order and go to labcorp because this place is a mess. Even if I have to pay out of pocket so that tells you how I feel. I am normally very patient, but 2 bad experiences forget it!! read more

Please don't take your baby here!! I took my newborn for some blood work and it was awful!! We waited almost 2 hrs only to be told they might not be able to do it because he was so small. Finally someone came and collected enough blood for 6 test all by a heel poke. The results came out all alarming due to the way it was collected! My baby had to have it all redone (at a different lab) because the results just didn't seem right. read more

I am a regular patient at Sonora Quest labs, I have a chronic illness that requires regular blood work. Unfortunately going here causes even more problems. When I get there, sometimes they can't find my order online. Other times they decide to use the wrong order (I have no idea why) and I have to tell them what they should be doing! It's not fun to have to do their job for them. If they could just get it together it would be nice. read more

THIS PLACE DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE ONE-START!!! This place doesn't communicate with the patients although they provide one on one service. When you go there, they don't tell you what they're going to do. No written or verbal information is provided. Later on, you learn the services on the bill and they end up with billing you for the labwork that you're not supposed to receive. Very clean, very professional. In and out quickly. Speaking as someone who does not like needles, I have 'rolling veins' and I get anxious very easily. This place (Dobson & Raye location) was a pleasant surprise. I Highly recommend making an appointment on line and getting there at least 15 min before the appointment. The lady in front of me in line to check in was a walk in and was told it would be at least an hour wait. I had an 11:00 appointment (checked in at 10:45) and I was back in my car heading home at 11:15. (Make sure you tell them you have an appointment).The tech (did not get her name) was not warm and fuzzy but she stuck me once-no bruise-did not rush me and answered all my questions which put me at ease. Thought I was going on with an appointment, but I accidentally made it for a week in advance. Ugh. The girl didn't judge me and I ended up staying. They had me in within 15-20 mins. Took my one year old for a blood draw. The first girl looked at his veins, but decided they were too small for her comfort level and went and got someone else. I really appreciated that. It wasn't fun, but both girls were so nice and got the job done as efficiently as possible. The people up front were very friendly and seemed to work efficiently as well. Overall, a pleasant experience considering the circumstances. I would definitely come to this location again. With an appointment set for the correct day. read more

DON'T BRING CHILDREN TO THIS LOCATION!!! I brought my very nervous six-year old daughter here. She even told the phlebotomist she was scared, but there were no words of reassurance from the staff. The phlebotomist didn't really say much to us at all except to ask if my daughter would like to sit on my lap, which she said "no." As soon as the needle was inserted, my daughter jerked back, and blood was everywhere. My daughter was hysterically sobbing as I was then reprimanded by phlebotomist for not having her sit on my lap. (I wouldn't have minded doing that, but she made it sound optional rather than critical when she asked earlier. If she had warned me this might happen, I would have gladly sat with her.) Again, there were no words to calm my daughter down or even a "sorry." She asked if we wanted to draw the sample on the other arm since we had collected no blood at this point. Meanwhile, my daughter is so hysterical there was no way I could have her work on the other arm. The phlebotomist made me feel like I was in the way and should get moving out of the office if I wasn't going to do the other arm. My daughter hyperventilated practically the whole 15 minute drive home, crying that she never wants to get blood taken ever again. In my opinion, the staff should be coached and trained on how to handle nervous children or even calm down someone who is upset. I felt like I had no empathy at all, and now I have to worry about my daughter having permanent phobias with needles. I'm never coming here again! read more

No one likes to take their kids to the doctor let alone a blood draw. I have taken my two year old here twice and I cannot say enough good things. We have seen two different phlebotomists and both we polite and professional. My daughter didn't even flinch with either and made it quick and easy. Unfortunately, my health insurance only contracts with Sonora Quest. I went to this Frye Road location for years. I need to go frequently, and they always manage to screw up one way or another. If everything goes smoothly, that is the exception, not the rule. I finally determined that all the mistakes originated at this location, not at the processing center. I can't tell you how many times that a lab test on the order was not run because they didn't transfer it over to their paperwork correctly. Once, they "lost" a stool sample. Many, many times, they did not run a blood test, and I didn't find out until the report came out and the blood had already been dumped. When I have needed to pick up supplies for a test (like a 24 hour urine), they were out almost every time. They don't stock sufficient supplies. It's also a revolving door of employees, both at the front counter and with the lab techs. They are rude and very unprofessional at the front. They could less about HIPPA laws. I've had them slap down my health insurance card on the counter face up, instead of handing my card and license back to me, while other patients were also standing right there. Although I usually tried to make an appointment, it doesn't matter much, because I always end up waiting for 30 minutes to an hour past my appointment time. They are so slow in transferring over the test information to their own paperwork, and are frequently interrupted, so, it's no wonder many mistakes are made. It's so chaotic. Many times, I had trouble finding a seat. Their TV is so loud, they must assume that everyone is deaf. They have signs saying not to talk on your cell phone in the waiting room, but people always do it and talk 3 times as loud as usual and it is very disturbing. The employees don't enforce it. Some patients are sick and don't want to hear all that. The last I was there, they really outdid themselves in the screw-up realm. After having my blood drawn, and I was signing (and making sure that they transferred over all my lab tests), the lab tech said she forgot to draw one tube. I was already bandaged up. She proceeded to take off my fresh bandage and my vein was bulging. She wanted to poke the same vein, but I said no. So, I had to get my other arm poked, too. Then, a few days later, lab customer service called me and said that one test didn't get run because the lab tech used too small of a tube. Then, the next week, I found out that 2 more special tests were not run because the person sending out the blood was lazy or stupid and didn't look the test up in their book (to send it out right away) and they sent it out as routine. So, my blood was no good for those tests before it even left the lab. I asked to speak to the supervisor for the lab, named Dawn Hewitt, and she called me back after the first test was not run. When I called her the next week after the 2 additional tests (off the same lab slip, btw) were not run and the tests were cancelled, she has never called me back. That was over a month ago. So, I emailed a complaint to management and someone from quality control called me back. She was going to investigate and get back to me shortly. That was a few weeks ago. I've never heard back. Don't these companies understand that your business is only as good as the people you have working for you? Sonora Quest is a disaster. If you need to use Sonora Quest with your insurance, I would highly suggest that you use a different location and hope for the best. read more
