My husband and I had a wonderful car buying experience with Gary Smith Honda in Fort Walton Beach…read more We were looking around for a vehicle to fit our growing family when we just thought to stop by some car lots to just peek around. We stopped at a few other dealerships in the area, didn't love the prices for what they were offering, and kept searching when we finally stopped at Honda. We came after hours so unfortunately no one was available to talk to us, but we still were able to look around at the vehicles they were selling. We stumbled on this 2022 Ram 1500 and were super interested since it'd fit our families needs and more. The price wasn't terrible for a full sized truck either which was also a plus. So, we head home, do some research, and set an appointment to test drive the truck. I was promptly reached out to after requesting the appointment where they confirmed my time. When we got to the dealership our salesman's, Johnny, was ready to greet us and had everything ready to go for us to test drive the vehicle. The test drive went great and Johnny asked us the usual questions about how we liked the truck and, of course, we loved it so we got to talking about purchasing. We've bought cars in the past so we were ready to have to haggle tooth and nail for what we wanted with the vehicle we were hoping to buy. However, were pleasantly surprised when our offer on the vehicle we wanted to purchase wasn't pushed back on and was quickly accepted. Johnny was very friendly and went over everything on the paperwork. He answered all of our questions and got us back to Ian the finance guy. Ian was also fantastic and was able to answer all the questions we had and they even got us a better APR than our bank was offering (which is great for these high percentage rates these days). Super great people and friendly service. I love that they're not the usual stiff dealership that doesn't want to haggle to get you a good deal.

We actually have had 4 Hondas at once and always take care and have proper maintenance done when suggested. 163,000 miles. needs an A5. oil change and engine coolant replacement. already $600. I also had new tires put on adding another $1,200 to my bill. and don't forget the tire alignment charge in with the $600. Go to pick it up, suggest $180 diagnostic to see why suspension is messed up on rear of car. That doesn't include any pets labor or services after the fact of course......And suggest transmission flush for $500 though we just had transmission fluid replaced less than one year ago. "There are too many reasons for us to go into as to why this might have happened". Can't tell you what the problem is.....oh but we can fix it for at least $500.....right. My gas light is on, a warning light saying keyless remote battery low is now on my dash as well. Oh and I asked the service person if there was an extra surcharge if I used a CC to pay for service. Nope. Surprise, there was. Had to get that refunded and repaid with a debit card. All the advisors were new and was a horrible experience. Not just one thing to be put out about but like 5 things that were jacked up. So glad we are moving from this area. Would not go back there again even if we were not moving. Very disappointed in Honda today.

I had been in…read morecontact with one of their sales people and had decided on the vehicle and the price before coming to the dealership, as we were coming from out of state. We drove 4 hours the night before our appointment, which we had made with the expectation that it would help streamline the process. Unfortunately that did not end up being true. There were multiple errors in the paperwork that the salesman showed us. We ended up having to stop and restart the paperwork with him three times before even getting to signing documents with the finance department. Errors in name, address and email, all of which was information they had ahead of time via our licenses and email correspondence. Another error being not including the discount incentive for financing with the dealership. When we brought that up they tried to push back and say it was already included, but since the price was agreed upon before we arrived we knew this was not true. Upon starting paperwork with the finance department, the paperwork was once again wrong. It was decided the best course of action was to completely restart the paperwork. During this time it was discovered that the vehicle we were purchasing had three open recalls and also a non functioning module. This was a brand new 2026 vehicle. The salesperson knew we were driving from out of state weeks in advance so there is no excuse for having these recalls. The salesman went to talk to the service department who said that they did not have the parts to fix the recalls. We were then told that we would need to contact a local dealer once we returned home to address the recalls. Because of the open recalls we were not able to set up our OnStar account with the car at the dealership. Without functioning OnStar the entire infotainment system was completely unusable. We could not use maps, music, anything. Again, this was a brand new, 2026 vehicle. The solution was to use Bluetooth the directions and music and they sent us on our merry way. After the fact when we voiced our frustrations about the open recalls and safety concerns of them, their response was "well we'd argue the car is still drivable". On top of all that, a few days after we got home they called us back to let us know that once again, the paperwork was wrong and they needed us to resign and send it back. After contacting our home dealership to get the recalls and module fixed, they could not believe Step One sold us a car with open recalls. Saying "they can't do that" with my response being "well they did". I would not purchase a car from Step One unless you first want to get a job there because the only way the paperwork will be correct is if you do it yourself. One star instead of zero because of the price of the car, and because zero stars is not an option, but honestly the price of the car does not make up for all the headaches involved with this dealership.
