Dr Sophia is a very kind person, however, her front desk needs major improvement. Her mother, Barbara? No bueno. She's terrible at front desk. She makes things so much harder and difficult to get to Dr Sophia. It feels like you're a bother when u call. Refills: Whenever u need a refill, it requires a call from Dr. other offices I call and they refill. At some point, naturally you need an appointment. Ever since Covid she stopped seeing patience in office. If you call it's not encouraged. Dr Sophia is also away, often. I feel like whatever u suggest something you think you may need, she'll just agree with you. It's too easy so you don't know if she's giving you something just because u suggested? I sometimes wanted to know her opinion. She's the Dr. yeah, like I said, very nice person but the way things are run, needs much improvement. read more

horrible billing and office manager!!!!!!!! refusing to release medical records when i have went to them since i have been a child and so has my entire family. once they got rid of thier staff and put their mother (yes, mother) in charge the office has been horrble. so rude and inconsiderate for someone dealing with a serious medical condition. all other health offices release your information with no problem but a signed form. the office is stating the patient is not entitled to their medical history records and told me to get a lawyer. i have been going to them since i am about 13 years old. disgusting! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Boulukos for the past 10 years. I found Dr. B through family members who spoke very highly of her. I was new to Suffolk County and my previous Dr was located in Nassau County and I wanted to find a Dr closer to home. I consider myself lucky to have found a Dr who is extremely thorough, and who listens to her patiets and thinks outside the box. My body does not respond to things like the average person and she's always willing to hear me out to help and guide me along the way. If I need her in a pinch to discuss something, for example I recently fell, she returns calls promptly and she is really just such a caring Dr. I rave about her to my family and friends. My mother's response is always, "you're so lucky you found such a caring doctor. I wish I lived closer to her practice". My husband started coming to her practice also and he is very happy. He had a kidney transplant 20 years ago and Dr. B has been referring him to all different specialists as he is now in his 50's. If you're looking for a caring and thorough Dr, look no further. I can't recommend Dr. Boulukos and her practice enough. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Boulukos for many years. I have found her to be very thorough and has great follow up. I am in healthcare and I see first hand the last 4 or 5 years the burdon that has been weighing on these physicians. Many physicians are exiting this career choice at extremely high rates. They are looking to retire early and get our out of practicing all together. The funnel of new med students is 1/2 of what it was 10-15 years ago. read more

DR SOPHIA BOULUKOS Smithtown, NY This doctor has her mother sitting behind the desk answering the phone and making appointments. I've been a patient for many years and have referred alot of my family members to her practice. The problem is her rude, obnoxious unprofessional mother that answers the phone. Everytime that I call for test results...she meaning the receptionist mother gives incorrect results and information. When asked if she can put the doctor on or to have the doctor call me she never wants to do so because she feels that she has handled the problem. She is not a medical doctor. One time this lady gave me test results for my lab work and had me flying back to New York in a hurry with an urgency only to find out that she gave me incorrect information regarding my tests. Today I called to make an appointment for Wednesday which is 2 days away and she insisted that I couldn't do that. I needed to come in today or Wednesday. She then got annoyed and irate and told me that I was discharged. Wow!!! She keep that up her daughter wouldn't have a practice. This lady is not a doctor only a receptionist and is so unprofessional. I just recently took a ct scan and she told me that I had something that I didn't actually have. I called the specialist who ordered the test and he asked, who told you that? Who gave you that information and I told him Dr Boulukos mother. Everytime I call for an appointment or results she has something not nice to say. The last time I was in the office they didn't even take my vitals which was surprising because I have hypertension and diabetes. I'm out of there!!! And I'm telling my family members as well to go...get out of there. This lady shouldn't be behind that desk. BEWARE!!! DR SOPHIA BOULUKOS MOTHER IS A CONTROLLING RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL MEAN WOMAN who wants to dictate when you can make an appointment with her daughter DR BOLOUKOS and also how your medication refills are disbursed !!! STAY AWAY....When she gets really annoyed and irritated she'll discharge you from.the practice....not even her doing the discharge....momma bear is doing it.Lady go somewhere and get some yarn! Dr. Boulukos, affectionately known as Dr B is one of the best physicians I have had. She is always on top of any issues you may have and has a network of specialists that she is able to refer you to depending on your condition. Every referral that she made for us has been to another exceptional doctor. I trust her and the care she gives to every patient. She is extremely caring, knowledgeable and has a network of support that is 2nd to none. I recommend anyone looking for a compassionate doctor who will take really good care of you to seek out Dr. Sophia Boulukos. read more

Omg that just happened to me today .I have been seeing her for 7 years in Sayville. Then they permanently went to Smithown. Its was great until they got rid of the staff, they were fabulous! About few months ago she, the receptionist also tried to tell me I had no Insurance and that I could not see the Dr. Finally, I get to speak to the dr on the phone to ask her to do blood work bc I wasn't feeling well. I go and get my blood work and call several times for results and this women is being nasty and rude saying she cant find the labs. I told her I wasn't sure which lab, I said it could Quest or labcorp. So I wait give it a few days call back and she tells me again, I left you a voice message saying I could not find Your blood work. So then I set up a patient portal with Labcorp and I get my results of the blood work. Of course I not a Dr I cant read the results. So I call back and see if she found my labs. She said no. I said, I can its on the patient portal I can , email them to you she said no! I cant do that. I said can Ispeak to the Dr she said no. So now I am getting upset. I have the labs why don't they. she said the dr was going to call with results when she finds them. Her mother keep telling me she could not find my blood work. Then blames me bc I could not remember the lab. After a few days I called To get my blood work results and she was rude and nasty and and then she terminates me for getting upset Bc she could not find my labs. When I became upset with her she started threatening me with termination and she did! The old staff was fantastic. read more

I had been a patient of Dr. Sophia Boulkas for over eight years, and initially, my experiences with her were pleasant. However, my husband and I have been deeply disappointed by the abrupt way she discharged my husband from her care. This decision seemed to stem from the consistent rudeness and disrespect exhibited by her mother, Barbara, who manages the front desk. Barbara, or "Mama Boulkas" as some might call her, has been a nightmare to deal with. She never listens to our concerns and constantly harasses patients for insurance information, often in an erroneous manner. My husband and I never faced similar issues with any other healthcare providers, which makes this experience particularly frustrating. The hasty decision made by Dr. Boulkas to discharge my husband--who suffers from multiple medical conditions--was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. It feels as though she sided with her mother rather than considering the well-being of her patients. Barbara should not be in a position to impact patient care in such a negative way, as it creates a clear conflict of interest and poor judgment within the practice. I wholeheartedly encourage others to consider this situation before committing to Dr. Boulkas as a healthcare provider. It's disheartening to see a once-reliable physician compromise her practice's professionalism in favor of familial loyalty. Caveat emptor! read more

DR SOPHIA BOULUKOS - Smithtown I am a native Long Islander for 62 years. I have taken a lot of time to find the best health care professionals possible for me. These doctors are amongst the best!! I am a patient of Dr Tsarkalis and Dr Boulukos. They have been my doctors for many years. First I would like to share that the office is very well run. The staff is efficient, professional, inviting and friendly. I have always felt like family during my visits. The physical office is organized, clean and arranged in a way that welcomes all patients who enter. One of the many attributes of this office is that you are never made to wait very long. They don't over book or triple book appointments. So that boils down to a minimal wait time to see the doctor. I have had the pleasure of seeing both of the doctors. My experience with both of them was wonderful! I found each doctor to be thorough, compassionate, professional, caring and warm. I had been test driving many doctors until I found Dr B and Dr T. I can tell you that I am thrilled with the level of care and that I would follow them in to another county if I had to. I've been seeing Dr. Boulukos since I was in my teens. I'm 34 years old, and can tell you that she is my favorite doctor I've ever had. Very kind, very caring, very knowledgable, and very professional! She's seen me through a lot through the years, as I have an extremely intense medical history that brings me to doctors way more than the average person. Because of that, I've seen more doctors than I'd like to think about. Dr. B is one of the best out there. Don't take this lightly, because good doctors are very hard to find. I've had more experience with Dr. Boulukos than most people combined. She knows her stuff, has a wonderful bedside manner, and always makes me feel comfortable. Go see her. You won't be sorry! Dr. Sophia Boulukos has been top notch! I have been to several doctors to figure out what has been wrong with me and was referred to her office. She was the only doctor that was able to get the root of the problem. Realized I had a co-infenction, lymes and babesiosis. For those suffering with lymes, this can be paralyzing. I was so grateful for the treatment and I am starting to feel like a person finally. I had to write this review. So thankful! In addition, when dealing with lymes, you are have to take many blood tests. Her staff was so accommodating, checking in on me, giving me results, and making feel like I was not the only person fighting for my health. THANK YOU! Highly recommend. I can not express how blessed I am to have found Dr. Boulukos. She is beyond a doubt the best doctor I have ever met. She is knowledgeable, thorough, and pleasant. Dr. Sophia Boulukos and Dr. Martha Tsarkalis are a rare find of doctors. It is refreshing to have doctors who take the time to listen to you and treat you like a human being instead of a number. I tried Dr Boulukos for the first time ever. It was such a great experience. Not only she was professional but also very caring. It's hard to find Doctors like her now day. I am not sure what the reviewer who gave her one star is talking about but this doctor is amazing! It is a beautifully run family practice. The only thing I can agree with the person that gave her a bad review is that I've also referred a lot of my family members to her practice.
