Essentially, I needed a trustworthy individual to function as my proxy to pick up an important document on my behalf and then mail it out overnight. I just moved from Chicago and my Chicago friends all work so no one was available to spare the round trip 3.5 hr train ride. So I was looking for a stranger that could help me out. I tried Task Rabbit and immediately got an offer that was ridiculously expensive since they would have to come from Chicago to do it. So I turned to Yelp to see if there were any reliable services I could find in Springfield, IL. There isn't much variety in Springfield, so I turned to the first law office I found which had a single 5-star rating. Mike Logan himself picked up the phone from the Law Offices of Mike Logan at 4:30 pm. After a 5 minute desperate explanation, he quickly understood my dilemma and without hesitation told me to detail in email/fax whatever I needed him to do and attach the necessary documents. Not only was I shocked that he fielded my call but that he stayed on the line with me. He could have easily interrupted me and told me that he only specializes in Bankruptcy Law. The very next day he calls me personally and tells me that the document was successfully picked up on my behalf and that he would be sending it overnight to the Medical Board of California as I described for him. His secretary then called me back to ask me for my personal mailing address so she could send me a copy of the document to me for my own records. Insane! I need to meet more people like Mike Logan and his staff. If I ever go bankrupt, I know who I'm calling first. If Mike was willing to help an out-of-stater on a favor requested over the phone having never met him, I can't imagine what he offers his clients in his area of expertise. P.S. I will be reimbursing Mike for overnight postage obviously. I offered to pay for his services and inconvenience but he never once discussed or negotiated for a particular fee. Maybe I'll be getting a fat invoice in the mail but certainly service and people like this are worth paying for. At least I know where to go if the fee does eventually bankrupt me.

As weeks went by it was so completely evident I had made a mistake by hiring him. He first sent another attorney who was fresh out of school to handle a court date. I thought who was this other guy? I didn't hire him but Mcward explains that the other guy would be taking the case. Really? The new guy seems nice enough but could he do the job? I hired Mcward and didn't want someone else do the work. So now I have a torn paper scrap as a receipt for my hard earned money and a switch of attorneys. Not good, but it gets much, much worse. I took it upon myself to do mostly all of the legal work because Mcward had done nothing!!! He is a manipulator evidenced by his communication tactics. He talks quickly at times with his head turned to the side not looking at me instead of making good eye contact (obviousl falsehood behavior) and then his sentence turns into a low uninterpretable mumble. The whole scenario of communication is falsehood behavior! He told provable lies such as he could not return a call due to a death in his family. Does he not realize the internet has everyone's obituary? When in reality his 93 year old grandma passed away 2 months prior and he had already given that excuse a few weeks before. He said that he was making burial arrangements and vague other excuses as he mumbled. I felt bad at first and gave condolences and then realized I had discovered another falsehood. Also, according to records he has been sued in Sangamon County for attorney negligence at least once if not twice. Wow. I sure picked the wrong person to represent a family member. He markets or preys on mostly small town residents I assume to reel in people with values that may include trust. It's so difficult to trust someone with an important job only to find that after he gets your money he will not carry out the work he was hired to do. I wish he would read this review so he might realize that we are all in this world together and we should help each other in ways we are gifted in. When we die all of the dollars he collected by deceit during his life will mean nothing then we all only have God to answer to. I had to hire another attorney who would actually do the work they are hired to do. By writing about my experience in this Yelp review I hope that I can prevent someone else from making the same expensive mistake I made by hiring him. Thank you!

We have been working on getting this filed for over two years now because Ostling cannot get their sh*t together. They do not return phone calls or emails on a timely basis, and we've even dealt with "no show" appointments from their so called attorneys. We went so far as to request a refund for not following through on filing or for that matter, giving us wrong information on the type of bankruptcy we can file. For over a year, we were told that we were doing a chapter 7, and then they turn around and tell us he is not eligible and must file a chapter 11. In the meantime, we have been through two attorneys with no explanation of why they are no longer there - lost information ie check stubs, financial affidavits, etc. If we didn't have to start all over from scratch, we would go somewhere else in a heartbeat.
