I called them to find out their schedules for the evening and they had a 4:30pm slot available. Perfect! I arrived a few minutes early to fill out the usual waivers. The standard drop in rate is $27. This Pilates studio did not require the grippy socks my home studio in Seattle usually mandates. In this class, we would be utilizing 3 machines (standard reformer, chair reformer, and mat reformer). It is a relatively small studio- max of 5 students per class. The instructor was wonderful! She was patient in explaining each of the moves and gave me plenty of pointers and tips along the way. We did great core work and I thoroughly enjoyed trying out new machines. The one downside? I didn't get to really sweat in this class (maybe it just wasn't the right class for me?). But I will definitely be back to try another class the next time I am visiting Bend.

All of the teachers follow the same flow formula (at least with respect to the "groove" class offering that dominates the schedule) Starts out with yin or stretching... go through a warrior combo sequence... first slow, taking a few breaths in each pose, then following through it a few times. Quick break to do core then the flow again followed by a cool down. Class to class is verrrry similar which is nice for the structure but makes me feel like my practice isn't well rounded. I've been going to another studio just to make sure my practice involves more then the same 12 poses and pigeon. My favorite teach is Bryna. She has a wonderful personality and energy and is the least Formulaic. Kayla is also fantastic but usually only subs. I like and recommend David too, esp if you are newer. As far as I can tell, they don't do much in the way of adjustments or hands on so if you're looking for they you might be happier at namaspa.

These sessions use computrainers and are geared toward strengthening your cycling technique and endurance vs a regular spin class focused on a general cardio workout. The workout is even better than I imagined and is plenty challenging whatever level cyclist you are. Wish I were going to be able to do more than 3 weeks training with Bowen!
