The infrastructure of the school is also good. Every classroom is equipped with a projector and computer. And the students can even use iPads. The canteen is actually good as well. They have yummy cheap sandwiches (10 Kr.) and the coffee is only 5 Kr. I suppose it's mainly for the students.

I had the good fortune to meet some of the key people during a presentation and panel discussion on curriculum development at the institute, from a social construction standpoint and just top notch educators. In addition, they provide a bountiful number of fascinating trips and experiences to familiarize one with the local culture. I was also impressed with the co-housing options where students could live together versus with a host family and the opportunity for individuals to develop those adult life-skills that are part and parcel of post-college life. As Virginia mentions, in an earlier post, the institute is located in the heart of Copenhagen, which is one of the most walkable and bike friendly places on the planet. My experience started well…read morewith an 'interview' with one of the administrators who carefully explained the 'free' Danish lessons. (He forgets I pay full taxes.) How many modules I have to pass and in what length of time and when it is possible to make breaks. After this, I got a choice of dates to start - it was overly subscribed and there was a month long wait to start. Luckily they fit me into an earlier class. Still, when you get there for your first lesson, only half of those registered turn up. This is not the fault of the school but they could have a better system with putting people on waiting lists to join a class that is actually undersubscribed. Teachers. They are hit and miss. They seem very disorganised and causal about the whole affair. All three (due to our main teacher not being able to make the lesson or was off ill) did not give structured teaching and were easily distracted by non-Danish language matters. One supply teacher spent half an hour to give us his life story when a fellow student politely asked how he came to be a Danish teacher. The school is large and has a good study area and a computer room for those who don't have internet access. It also has a cheap canteen serving awful but cheap (3 DKK) coffee and tea that you serve yourself in thermos flasks. There are also sandwiches and pastries that are also reasonably priced!

The DTU Ballerup campus is a bit far from the city. The building is divided into wings that are…read moredivided by letters. In the beginning it was a bit hard to find where everything was but it gets easier by time. There are many maps everywhere to guide your way. The first number of the room is the floor where the room is. 1 is for ground floor 2 is for the first floor and 0 is for the basement. Comparing this to the DTU Lyngby is a bit unfair as it is bigger and with lots more people. However the library is quite nice here and the canteen, although it's small, it's quite alright. You can buy a clipcard for coffee: 8 dkk per coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The food is typical canteen food with buffet which you pay by weight. They take all types of credit cards. There is plenty of space to park a car if you drive a car. The 350s bus brings exactly outside the canteen which is very convenient. Inside there is plenty of space to sit in the common areas and the rooms are well equipped.

Not being well versed in Danish, it was a bit hard for me to locate studios online, but low and behold, I was tipped off about Sceneindgangen, which happened to be halfway between the University and my house. This studio could not be more perfect. They offer classes of all levels for people of all ages, but particularly for adults. If you are a beginner dancer who wants to get into dance, this place is great. If you are experienced dancer who wants to keep working your thing, it is also perfect. Sceneindgangen is like a small scale Broadway Dance Center in Copenhagen. They offer classes almost everyday both during the day and in the evenings. Jenny Major's Modern/Contemporary and Jazz classes are fantastic. She really works specific details with technique, while always presenting fun, creative and challenging choreography. I particularly enjoy how her choreographic style is so closely connected to the music she sets her pieces too. If you are a dancer looking for some classes, whether you are a beginner or an expert, this is the place to be!

I can honestly say that getting my drivers license with Alliance trafikskole was the worst…read moreexperience. First of all, the theory lessons were absolutely horrible. I took their ''English course'' which is supposed to be in ENGLISH yet half of the material they show you in class is in Danish, including all the videos and extra material given. The theory teacher is so rude and unpleasant. She won't answer questions properly or she will give you a really arrogant attitude while answering you, as if you are a burden. Unfortunately, the theory lessons aren't even the worst part. The driving teacher that I was assigned was THE WORST person I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. Once again, this person is incredibly rude and absolutely disgusting as he will take off his shoes and put his BARE FEET right next to the gear stick where your hand is... He will also proceed to spit out the window, stick his finger up his nose, swear at by-passers, throw gum and trash out the window, and least but not last this man will comment on ''hot chicks'' he sees walking outside.. ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. Oh and it gets worse. This driving school can't even get their cars fixed or checked up prior to having inexperienced students driving their cars. There have been RECENT cases where cars have had SERIOUS technical problems that put lives of students in danger. I don't know how I can emphasize this enough. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT get your license here.
