My husband's work sent him a gift box that included a bag of the "Banana Puddin' and since he's lactose intolerant he put the bag in the "weird snack" section of the pantry and forgot all about it. A few months ago I was in a snacky mood but really didn't want to eat the kids' crummy school-safe granola bars. Deep in the bowels of the pantry was the glorious bag of banana puddin' popcorn, which I ate in its entirety. It was all I could do to not cut open the bag and lick the banana puddin' dust from it. (I did not do that. I'm a strong, independent woman.) How do I describe this stuff? Sweet, salty, chewy with just the right amount of give. More flavorful than your average Cavendish but not cloying and fake like a Laffy Taffy. Flash forward three months and I'm still thinking about this stuff. We tried Banana Pudding, Macaroni and Cheese, Caramel, and Dill Pickle, which were all fresh and super tasty. The owner was charming and personable and I really enjoyed chatting with her. In the end we bought a bag of the mac and cheese and a bag of the banana pudding, as well as snagging a mini bag of their vegan Austin BBQ flavor for a friend. Delicious! The caramel was SO buttery and fresh! Prices are a little hard to decifer. I'd heard a Soul Popped opened at Barton Creek Mall And I had to try it freshly made. I'd ordered some of their popcorn through the mail the week before and it was excellent, so I had to stop by the same day I got into town. I re-upped on Mac n Cheese which is my absolute favorite, but also got to sample the banana pudding (so good, banana flavor and even a hint of vanilla wafer in there) and the chicken and waffle (tastes a little like their awesome fried chicken popcorn but with a maple syrup finish)! I'm pretty obsessed with gourmet popcorn and this is some of the best I've had with innovative flavors. I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow to grab some banana pudding and a caramel apple before I head out of town. We stopped by the Soul Pop in Barton Creek Mall and enjoyed our visit. They've been open 5 days now and still has some growing to do but the service was great! We got the pecans and sour dill pickle flavored popcorn and the lemonade. I think it'd be easier if they did each flavor in one big batch then be able to mix the other flavors in to create your own, or maybe pre-make a smaller batch in a metal mixing bowl almost like you'd do wings. It might make the process a little faster but overall we were happy. read more

First of all...the customer service is amazing! My husband and I feel like we made a new friend in Austin. We are here visiting from Arkansas and happened using the Soul Popped Gourmet Popcorn. It is unlike any other. Individualized and so good. We ordered all that we sampled as well as strawberries and cream, with more of a vanilla than strawberry base for the perfect balance. We also got the banana pudding, chicken and waffle, and bbq but added jalapeño and cayenne for a spicy kick. We were excited to hear that we can order and have the popcorn shipped. Popcorn+soul food=delicious sorcery. As a movie lover, I love popcorn, but I've never really been a fan of flavored popcorn outside of the occasional carmel popcorn from that assorted tin, and even then only a few handfuls and I'm done. I begrudgingly tried Soul Popped when it was first offered to me, as mentioned, I wasn't a real fan of flavored popcorn, and I definitely had zero faith in the chicken and waffle flavor I was offered, but when I tell you the spirit of Roscoe was in that bag, you better believe it. In addition to the surprisingly accurate flavor, the popcorn tasted fresh and not stale like I was used to. Later down the road my wife and I tried the Mac and cheese, banana pudding and the corn off the cobb. None of it makes sense, but they're legit. I personally don't like banana pudding, but it's my mom's go-to dish so I figured I would judge it's authenticity, and it indeed tasted accurate unfortunately lol. The owner is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She truly appreciates everyone who walks into her space. All of the flavors are made with love and you'll understand once you're there witnessing the taste and conversation for yourself. I saw Banana Pudding and got a sample fell in love and as I was debating the owner then discovered her "chicken and waffles" I tried that one too and it was a very tasty bag as well. Now would I buy again heck ya! This is very different than your other gourmet popcorn in that she is specializing in "soul food" flavors. Best popcorn I have ever had!! My daughter and I stopped by today. We tried all the wonderful flavors and finally made a decision to get two bags. One bag of Chicken and Waffles and one bag of what they call 'Chicago Mix', which is a combination of Heavenly Mac N Cheese popcorn and caramel popcorn. I was a bit leery at first, but when I tried those two together, I was blown away. We are 30 min from the mall and both bags were eaten before we got home. I was at Barton Creek Square Mall this past weekend and Soul Popped Gourmet Popcorn had their soft opening. I had never heard of them before. They only had about six to eight flavors available at the time. Let me tell you hands down, the best popcorn and pork skins I have ever tasted! Bar none! I walked out with three large bags of Heavenly Macaroni and Cheese, Austin Smoked BBQ, and Banana Pudding (Mmm Mmm good). I also walked out with a large bag of BBQ Pork Skins.
