Music was extremely loud and lasted almost 45 minutes. Standing so long got us tired very quickly. People then sat literally right next to us (less than a foot away) with their being probably 100 empty seats and they decided not to wear a mask either, needless to say, we left and aren't coming back.

We were welcomed immediately and introduced to many people right away, and they made me a coffee. The music was contemporary style and upbeat/thoughtful. The pastor was lively and entertaining, I wanted to know more about the sermon and the story after it was done! We showed up on a day when they happened to be having a newcomers lunch, and we decided to get out of our comfort zone and join. I'm glad we did! My boyfriend said it was the best 1st experience in a church he's ever had, I agree. Both of us felt welcomed and like we've found a new place to go when we need some spiritual uplifting.

Mass should never be a popularity contest, gossip, politics or social pressure…read more What I found about this church, neither of those things apply. What was clear to me, is their objective and understanding of what comes first is, the congregation, Catholic dogma, and spirituality. I'd like to share my first mass experience. My sisters, who are deeply religious and devout had come to visit and wanted to attend Sunday mass at the nearby town which I discouraged. We went instead to St Andrew. As soon as we parked our cars, we noticed that there was an uplifting atmosphere of joy. The children were laughing and talking about saints, breakfast at home after mass, and the priest, whom they loved. It was a pleasure to see this type of interaction and love for their church. When we entered, my niece slid next to me and observed the mass with a sense of jubilation and curiosity that I had never seen before in her. And, before the mass ended, I noticed her eyes filled with tears as they flowed over and down her cheeks. It was the first time I had ever seen anyone so filled with a reference to a mass and God. Would I recommend this church to anyone? YES!! YES! YES! Also may I add, CHILDREN should come first always. A church fails its congregation when they demand that children be left at home so they can have quiet at mass. Please remember in "Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

We are strongly considering a return to St. Mary's school for our children.

I love this place! The staff are always so warm and friendly! I started attending this church when…read moreI moved back to Tacoma in 2004 and was super impressed! They have a lot of compassion for the less-fortunate, and even serve free hot meals on Mondays. The really show they care. Not just a hot meal, but they offer a small food bank, free bread, and even a clothing bank! I love their bands they use! What blew me away was how awesome their teen band was! They are very, very impressive and they sing great too! They rotate different Pastors so you don't get the same one every week. I like that sometimes. But all of them are great! And funny sometimes! This church gets packed, so you might want to show up early if you want to be assured a parking spot or a seat. The cool thing is that if you are here for the first time, like maybe to check it out, they have visitor parking for first-timers! The only thing I used to think (and joke about) was it seemed they had "spies" who kept watch on the visitor spots so they could be sure to welcome them at the door! Nope, I was wrong... they do this to EVERYONE! You WILL feel welcomed and loved at Rainier View! They also have a lot of small groups, like a men's group, women's group, youth group, recovery group and even a singles group! Something for everyone! Not a lot more I can say about Rainier View except that you WILL love this church! By the way, they sing contemporary praise songs NOT out of hymnals, and NO speaking in tongues here (a concern of mine and I don't like hearing) so I really feel comfortable here! They offer free coffee and cookies in the foyer, but for those who desire more, they even have an espresso bar right there in the lobby! Oh my gosh! Back in 2006 I was diagnosed with a very major illness requiring me to stop working and have surgery within a month! It was an ER doctor who faxed a stop work order to my employer! Well, needless to say, I suddenly had no income and had no way to pay my upcoming rent nor my phone and power bills. I was forced to contact LOVE Inc, who called me saying they found a church who was going to pay 2 months of my power bill PLUS one month of my rent. But when they told me it was Rainier View, I almost started crying. This was my church, but they didn't know me because I've always been one of those quiet ones who tend to sit alone in the back row. I personally went in as soon as I was back on my feet after recovering from my surgery and thanked them and introduced myself as the person they helped. It was so nice of them, and I felt a need to thank them. The Lord certainly made sure there was a church big enough to fit all those who want to worship Him, then He blessed them all with very warm and loving hearts. God Bless you, RVCC!
