The only reason I stay there is for the golf at the Ailsa course, an Open Championship venue. There are many resort hotel activities and a spa, so I suppose you could do that stuff but there is not much else except the Eisenhower Castle close by. The nearest town is Girvan which is tiny, but with a few good local places for fish and chips and Indian food. The restaurant has a good Scottish breakfast included with the room. The continental breakfast buffet is very good with lots of fresh and dried fruits. I get a load of smoked salmon with my usual Turnberry Grill, which consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, roasted tomato and black pudding. I suppose you could get Haggis. I've stayed there many times since the 1980's and the property has been extensively remodeled over the years. It's a lot more modern and fresh now. Service has always been excellent.

We then needed bedding for the sofa bed and when we came back the bed was made up. Our dinner at the restaurant was magnificent. The staff were all very nice. At breakfast there was a buffet. The croissants were gone. We were fine with that because we got there late. However one of the servers came back 10minutes later with two hot out of the oven croissants. Above and beyond. I would highly recommend this hotel. Rooms clean! And comfy.

The shower was very tight for a large bathroom but the water pressure was good. The food and drinks in the dining room and bar were very tasty and worth making the reservation in advance. Would definitely stay again but since our room (3) was directly above where people stood to smoke and chat we will ask for a different room next time.

After some prompt and friendly service I ordered the scampi and chips as my main. The portion size was ample, with more than the usual six pieces of scampi that seem to be standard in restaurants, and a healthy amount of chips. From the dessert menu, which had quite a few options, I went for the blackcurrant crumble and custard, which was excellent. It's also worth trying one of the local beers, which certainly added to my enjoyment. Well worth trying out, whatever the time of day.

The cheese plate looks a little bit small and odd on presentation, but the portion size was just right after a massive main course and the cheeses were local and varied. Nom. The crumble was massive and drowned in custard. The dinner was washed down the Arran ales, both of which were very enjoyable. The decor is rustic and cosy, and there is an atrium/glass house type area to the rear of the pub which you can also sit in. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, and prompt with service. I'm not sure about the hotel, but the food is definitely recommended. This is not a posh place - it's one for folk looking for a good feed without any fancy-pants nonsense. Hi, just to put our experience of our 1 night stay at Seamill…read more The hotel is lovely, staff were OK, room was clean and comfortable. Then we get to the Orangery! A very disappointing experience - slow service, wine brought half way thru main course, wrong meal, to ask where our dessert was three times, and then the bill was wrong! On checking out we were asked if everything was OK - I hesitated slightly and then was asked 'problem in the Orangery?' I reported our experience and was given 2 email addresses to send our complaints to. Duly emailed to both, no reply! Emailed again 2 weeks later - again no reply from either of the management emails. My opinion! Disappointed with the service in the Orangery - totally disgusted that my emails did not warrant any sort of response from management. I had been before for a wedding reception, proabably about 10 years ago so I knew it was going to be good. I pre-booked our hotel room, we were advised to quote the names for the wedding party to get preferential rates. My jaw nearly fell off when I was given the price, very expensive but on research I found that we did get it cheaper for the type of room we got. Our room was based out in the Courtyard, located outside the hotel, and was a room with a lounge. It was lush! The cost also included access to all the hotel facilities, which included the gym and swimming pool. The wedding was based across two rooms, I believe they were the Arran room and the Brisbane Suite. The Arran Room was named because it looks across to the Isle of Arran. Unfortuntely is was a bit dreich that day so not as good a view as normal. This is where the cermony was, so emotional. Sniff! The Brisbane Suite, I've nae idea but this was where we had photos taken and then it opened up to where we had our meal and where the dancing was to be had. Oh and dancing I had!! The breakfast room was lovely and you had the choice of a cooked and continental breakfast. We made the most of both. Tasty! I had an absolutely blooming marvelous time and can't thank my old school friend enough for inviting us along. I would to go back and make use of the swimming pool as we never got the chance as it was Mothering Sunday so our mothers came first. A beautiful hotel and location as it's situated next to the beach. I would definitely save up and maybe a wee romantic night could be on the cards.

Located at Maidens harbour with its fishing boats bobbing about, it makes sense that there would be a focus on fresh fish! The menu is well balanced though and fans of meat, poultry and vegetarian fare are well catered for. The dining room is modern, bright and airy and full of nice decorative touches. The drinks are a little more expensive than some places but they are generous with the jugs of iced water at the table, so thumbs up for that. I'm not a fan of fizzy soft drinks, so as I was driving I opted for a glass of lime cordial with tap water which also kept my costs right down. Being a bit greedy we polished off the warm fresh bread and butter before our starters arrived, but the friendly staff were only too happy to bring us another basket on the house. Our starters were fabulous as were our mains, but we had no room left for dessert which is a pity, as it doesn't add much to the bill at lunchtime! This is a place where tables are properly set with linens and nice cutlery and its a perfect spot to bring someone for a special occasion. It may be a fair drive for most people to get here, but it's definitely worth the trip. I've dined here many times over the years and used the opportunity to walk across the beach to Culzean Castle where you can access the grounds free of charge. I don't feel too bad about not paying to get in, especially as I've been an almost lifelong member of the National Trust anyway. Another spot you can go to walk off lunch is the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse on the famous Open golf course. Its two minutes from Wildings Restaurant and there is a public right of way across the course. Tip: Ask for directions to the lighthouse at the Golf Club starters box so you can safely avoid getting hit on the bonce with a golf ball! Guests at the adjacent glitzy Trump Turnberry Resort Hotel flock to Wildings Restaurant for a change of scene. They know good food when they see it and I can't disagree with them! I've only ever been here for lunch, and as it's close to my work it's our go-to place for wining and dining visitors. The main room has amazing views of the coast (if the weather is on your side), and you really do feel like you're part of the countryside. It has a certain formal feel to it, but nothing too serious that you feel like you have to make an effort and be on your best behaviour. This, coupled with the menu and the clientele (it always seems to favour the retired crowd) gives it all a fancy members club feel. When asked about the food I described it as "good quality old persons fancy food", which was meant a a compliment. It's traditional dishes done well, from good fish dishes like whole sole, good quality steak pies and chicken breasts in creamy sauces. Portions are generous, and if you're in a bigger table you get a couple of side plates with veg an chips (and they were good chips!) - all very traditional. And while it isn't doing anything wildly adventurous there isn't anything wrong with doing the classics and doing them well. Personally, I'd like them to throw something new into the menu to justify the 5th star, but if you like good quality food in a nice setting then it's worth a visit. There is a 2 course lunch menu at £12.50 which is well worth a try. And the view is fantastic.
