The people here are friendly, and embrace what having a community of brothers and sisters means. Sometimes I get mad at the pastor teaching on stage and telling me that my life or my heart are on the wrong path or something that I think is ok is not ok in God's eyes. But I'm so thankful that the pastoral team does not hold back from topics that I find uncomfortable and bring us all into repentance and follow Jesus. If your looking for that, I suggest this place. If you want to have people tell you that you're ok and you can keep living in sin and God doesn't care about how you live or finding grace for your sin, then this probably will be a hard place for you to visit because the people here will love you a lot but let you know about the things that are destroying your soul. So check them out and theirs also two other locations in Lexington and on Two Notch Rd. A very…read morenice member of the congregation provided some information and helped me to find the rather well-disguised gate to get inside. As it is an active cemetery, it is kept up quite well. Low cut grass, no litter, not even weeds. It sits in the shadow of the basilica itself and is fenced in to maintain a sense of peace and quiet despite the downtown Columbia location. Highlights ~ They played The Beatles during the offering. This was a first for any church I've ever been to. I like it. ALOT. Everyone there was very friendly, and you could tell that people had a sense of humor. It certainly wasn't stuffy at all. They practice what they preach. 50% of all donations go directly to a charitable organization, and they regularly hold volunteer events. I might be jaded, but to me this is impressive for a church to do. Cons ~ It was a little 'crunchy'. Not necessarily in a bad way, but I got a brief vibe of 'all military people suck' when I mentioned that I was in the military to a congregation member who asked. I'll follow up on this one.
