I've never been to a hockey game before, and the Stingrays didn't disappoint! I went to a Kelly Cup game against the Florida EverBlades last month. The energy was high! I had seats right behind the opposing team, right on the ice! One thing to keep in mind is that your view can be blocked at times by coaches, which is understandable, but can be a problem when you miss plays. I ended up buying a Stingrays cowbell to join in on the fun! We won that night, and I'll definitely go to another game when the season resumes! read more

Cool vibes & a fun time at the ice rink watching the SC Stingrays. Decently priced items for a venue and not too bad of a selection to boot. They appear to constantly change up the selection of vendors on the food court. Went last year & there was a Chick-fil-A. This year it's a Sips & Spuds. There's also pizza. Popcorn, nachos, and a new Mexican spot now Dip n Dots vendor. Not sure if the Acai & coffee remains as we just snacked a bucket of mixed popcorn this time for a snack. Sad they don't do real pucks in a bag anymore, but totally understandable as to ensure no one gets hurt...it's just a little harder to toss foam pucks into the center of the rink when "chucking a puck" to win. The music is lively and effects are called in. Loved the freebies and parachute giveaways. Fun idea! It was a good time had by our party for sure! The Rays did win, so that helped! read more

Went to to my first hockey match last year; and it was the South Carolina Stingrays vs the Atlanta Thrashers. It was a great game and the Stingrays dominated the Thrashers. Not only was watching the game very entertaining, but the crowd watching was perhaps more entertaining than the game. There were a very diverse crowd at the game; but there was a group of hardcore Stingray fans that stuck out. This group was wild; yelling and slamming beers and having a good old time. I bought 12 games worth about $300 and I have been trying to get ahold of the front office for an issue I am having and no one ever picks up the phone. I have emailed Matt Ellard countless of times and he has not emailed me back. Its very frustrating to spend so much money and then have no one help you. We don't do many family nights out. I usually work late and my toddler doesn't have much patience. We bought 3 tickets off Ticketmaster for $75. The seats we had were awesome! Right above the merchant booth! The Rays won 5-1. The fans are the best. Cheering together and chatting. The prices are ok and love the tall boys. My daughter loved the popcorn and ice cream! Let me be forthcoming about the Charleston, SC sports scene. There's not much to get excited about from a fans perspective as the skill set of the Riverdogs has me befuddled every single time. (The collegiate sports scene here in SC's is great!) The Stingrays roster is filled with highly skilled players, they fore-check, skate hard to get back on D, coaches run four competitive lines that all work the puck, battle in the corners, passing and shooting like the pros. The occasional dropping of the gloves may occur, but never get messy which I guess is necessary as the venue is definitely family and kid friendly. I bought a half seasons tickets for my business, gifting a few to my best customers and attending many games myself. Although I've purchased many tickets before and after, sitting in many different seats I've found most all to have a great view of the ice. Concessions would be much better if they took a page from the Riverdogs food line up, fortunately no boiled peanuts. read more

Well, they aren't the team they used to be back in the 90's (ha!) But they are just as entertaining and the games just as fun as they used to be. They have redone the North Chas Colliseum, there is now a very very large food area on either side of the coliseum. Makes getting food and drinks for a large group way easier. Tickets for the rays games are usually about $12 - 28 depending on where you want to sit. They have theme nights. Military discounts and family packages. Between periods, the kids can ride around on the ice in a car thingy that shoots out t shirts and goodies to the crowd. They stop selling beer at the end of 2nd period.... I've been to several hockey games up and down the east coast, most recently in NC, and the SC Stingrays had the most interactive and fun audience / fan base thus far. From the cow bells to the Rick Flair "Woo!", this place was rockin' and the hockey game was fun too. The Stingrays won, of course, and after the first goal there was a Teddy Bear Toss on to the ice to support less fortunate children. The facility was very clean and accommodating as well. Normally the concessions are in the walkways and everyone is tripping over each other, but at this location the concessions have their own area, and it was an easy access facility all around. I'm not saying that I'll be a season ticket holder any time soon, but I was definitely pleased with both the way that the team played and the arena itself. read more

I've been to 3 games (thus far) and every single game we've taken the goalie out at the end and the other team has scored. WTF? Who is making these poor life choices? Nonetheless, I enjoy going to the games, the atmosphere is fun and the team is local! Premium seating is our favorite area, as the nose-bleed seats were too far away and the net (hanging behind the goal to stop pucks) got in the way of our line of sight at the other end of the ice. Stingrays Hockey was awesome! We decided to go with a family friendly event for our Christmas party this year and it was an awesome experience. Zachary Myers was an absolute pleasure to work with. Zach met us a month before and walked us through the coliseum and personally showed us what was available. For our gathering, we chose to go with the "Ice House" which provided our guests with an up close and personal hockey experience. I recently attended a stingrays hockey game and, besides the complete lack of player fights, it was an enjoyable experience. One thing I will note to hockey newcomers is that there is an unwritten rule to stay in your seat when the puck is in play. Admittedly, I was unaware of said rule and was verbally abused by a minor league hockey regular. Minor league hockey season ticket holders are typically high strung, know all of the rules and let everyone around them know about it. My advice would be to not sit very close to the front in order to avoid these creatures. This review gets 4 stars for the 4 remaining teeth that the lady yelling at me had. The vendors stop serving alcohol in the third period, presumably to avoid riots so stock up in the second period or bring your own mini bottles to make it to the final horn. There are plenty of great restaurants near the coliseum to eat at before the game, but I would warn against going to Community Pizza. They are terrible enough to deserve a shout out in a separate review as I am still reaping the consequences of consuming their products 24 hours later. read more

OK, fantastic night. I have not been to a game lately and heard a promotion on the radio about Darius Rucker bobble head night and had to look into it. I surprised my wife with the game and we made it early in order to be assured to get a bobble head. The stars were aligned correctly because we got there in time and not only that but as we waited in line to purchase a ticket two other individuals gave us their extra pair. The night could not have been better. And Chick Fil A after 2nd period was just a huge bonus! The team was competitive, the experience was great and we love the replays on the big screen. Ticket prices currently (as of July 2012) range from $14 in the balcony to $25 on the glass, though you can get them cheaper if you go in a group.
