So overcrowded, some of the teachers don't o no w what they are doing and get you sent to the office for no reason.

This school lowkey sucks, I'm glad I transferred ! The security guard absolutely sucks ( the big one) in fact last year I was taking a video of me and my 3 friends and the big Asian looking security guard yelled " hey" 3 times and I didn't know he was talking to me so I turned around and he said " come here" I said " ok " he said "why are you videoing me" I said " I'm not" then I showed him the video and he said " I don't care delete the video" I then said " NO' and walked off . Football is terrible, wrestling is pretty good. . The school is not crowded if you know how to maneuver through the hallways. Me personally I would say the teaching there is MID. School food is so disgusting. THE CHEERLEADERS ARE SO MID. If I attach a photo it would be of a TRASH CAN so you get no photo. read more

The school is great, the wrestling team is amazing! Cross country van squad is lit! Football... needs some improvement, but they have cool uniforms, so that makes up for it. The halls aren't crowded btw. We are Santos Project. read more

This school is very bad at communication. I made multiple complaints regarding teachers, kids bullying my autistic son, and the nurse not reporting self harm. The principal told me today that they felt that my son at 16 had a right to privacy. So my autistic child was cutting himself. The teachers saw the cuts and sent him to the nurse. Who told him that he needed to keep it clean and did nothing else. My son had his new wireless headphones he got for Christmas stolen at school. These headphones are a part of his IEP. He does not have a locker because they have twice the students then they have lockers. Even today the principal kept telling me on the phone that he's not sure there was even a crime. The receptionist even crossed out the case number on the theft report. This school has some very serious problems. In my opinion the principal is letting the teachers and other staff do as they please. When it was brought to his attention that my son was self harming and they knew and did nothing. He admitted that he should have been told. When I took my son from school for the rest of the year to keep him safe they did not send him to a Becca bill. The principal did not even know that my son was not there for months until last week. There is a severe lack of communication and improper documentation of complaints against teachers. My son's Washington state history teacher was very upset to be interrupted by my son when he was sent to his class by the principal and myself as well as the school police officer. He then wrote a note to me saying my son needed to learn respect. This teacher did not let my son tell him that he was sent. My son even tried to tell him the police were involved. This teacher chose to not talk to me the parent or any one at the school before writing this note. He made no attempt to find out the situation. The principal had already told me in front of the police officer that this teacher doesn't like to be interrupted. So basically the teacher is allowed to determine how he wants to do his job regardless of how he treats his students. The principal feels that putting a complaint in this teachers permanent record is not appropriate. That the principals talk with him and his working records (which are only for him) are enough. Yet it was already known this teacher gets upset by being interrupted and now the principal is trying to minimize the consequences. I guess being a teacher is a right not a job. I will not be letting this go. I will continue to seek a real solution to these real problems. read more

Build another school! 40+ kids in each class? 60+% drop out rate? 5+ hours of homework per class, after nothing was taught? Horrible math program? SOUTH KITSAP IS THE SCHOOL FOR YOU! I went to south Kitsap for just over a year. I passed two classes, PE, and horticulture. I had a job, and did not have the time to do the 5+ hours of homework for each class. Right before winter break of my junior year, I was EXPELLED, for smelling like marijuana, not being in possession, not for being high at school, not smoking marijuana on campus, but for SMELLING like it. After a good year of being out of school, my parents finally fought enough with the district to get me back into school. The very day I got back. a kid did some sort of powder drug, on his desk in my class, was kicked out, and back three days later. This school is a joke, there is way to many kids, and not enough staff or room. Currently there is a scabies outbreak at school, easily passed around due to the congestion in the hallways. My graduating class, not one single person in the whole school had a 4.0 NOT ONE PERSON! The person nominated for Valedictorian, NEVER took a class at south, it was all running start. I went on to drop out, and enroll into the local alternative school, and passed with no issues. I remember my sophomore year my science teacher slapped a paper on my desk, and was surprised when I completed it in under 20 minutes. I had done the exact worksheet in 6th grade out at Key Peninsula Middle School. This school is failing, and is beyond the point of no return. We need to pass levy's and stop funding that godforsaken football team. We need to build at least one more high-school. When I was a kid Port Orchard's population was less that how many people were in school my year(s) that I attended. On top of that Mr. Kanouse, the security officer is a dick to everyone that doesn't play football. I was a football player, until I got to south.. I would never enroll my son into that hell hole. At least until they FINALLY get a brain and build a second school. read more

I went to SK for less than a full year, I hated every minute of it. Just like everyone has said, it is way too over populated. Not to mention you are basically a statistic there. I had to follow other siblings that went here and every teacher and administrator stereotyped me based on my siblings reputations, which were not all that great. I actually had a teacher ask me if I was my brothers sister, when I answered yes she said "well then I already know Im gonna have problems with you." WTF! The place sucks. read more

We had great experiences at SKHS. Both children graduated from South and are now in college and on great paths for success. The key to success is both student and parent involvement. Great options for participation from sports to music to drama. Caring staff. But it is too large. I hope the community steps up to pass a bond for a second high school. read more

I give the school a 2 star rating only for it's sports department, they have a heck of a football program. I feel that the school is entirely to large to properly educate our children; they get lost in the system, I know I had the Counselor even admit that very failure. I pulled my daughter out of the school. read more
