I…read morehad easily scheduled my appointment online through the Allegheny County Health Department, and when I arrived at the municipal building in Ross, the employees directed me on where to go. Many residents had shown up to receive a vaccine, but the employees followed a refined process of registering me, vaccinating me, scheduling my second dose, and monitoring me for any side effects. All employees were kind, although two seemed slightly confused about the process, such as when one employee tried to get me to skip the line without an important paper. Sufficient parking spaces were outside. According to the Ross Municipal Center Park's website, they also have a basketball court, indoor recreational center, pavilion, and playground, and they offer fitness classes such as yoga for a fee. I am sure that more programs will become available after the pandemic is under control.

They have some toys available for free play along with some STEM related activities. It is bright and cheery and a great place to spend time with your kids. The adult side of the library is well stocked and has a great variety of materials to browse. I like that they have a display of new items but also that they have "features" in the various sections as well. They also have several computers that you can use as well. Voila, Highland Park saved the day. The thing that attracted me most was the playground that featured plenty of shade as well as playscapes that worked for various ages including babies with a soft floor. I also want to highlight that this park features hiking trails and a great view overlooking downtown Pittsburgh. It's tucked into a historic neighborhood so the drive to the park was also pleasant. If I lived in the area, I could see myself frequenting this park. Overall a wonderful experience and we will definitely visit the next time we are in Pittsburgh!

Overall, it is a wonderful city! I am continuously amazed at the amount of activities and cultural amenities that a city the size of Pittsburgh has. Sure, we have the Steelers, Pens and Pirates. But there is a world class symphony, opera and ballet. Tons of options for theater. And top notch museums and gardens. The city itself, especially downtown, is fairly well maintained. There are always street teams out making sure there isn't garbage laying around and in general, streets and sidewalks are fairly well maintained. The negatives are that with all the one way streets, it can be tough to navigate downtown. And, in the winter if we get more than about two inches of snow, the snow removal is awful. Overall, though, it is a wonderful city with plenty to do and see for people of all ages. I highly recommend a visit!

I've been fortunate enough to live in the City of Pittsburgh in both the Regent Square (city side) neighborhood as well as Little Italy (Bloomfield). Both fantastic neighborhoods (Bloomfield is my beloved) close to downtown. I would often walk to and from town from Bloomfield. In addition, I worked downtown in city government and absolutely loved it. Everything about my hometown city is wonderful. We've evolved from the Iron City (steel industry) to a foodie, tech, and medical hub. The city boasts amazing turn of the century architecture (and older) with new and modern buildings. The City of Bridges has beautiful views of the Three Rivers, Mount Washington, etc. from Point State Park which is a large green space along the water. There's nothing more awe-inspiring than driving through the Fort Pitt Tunnels to have the entire city in front of you. Oh, and how could I forget? It's definitely a sports town. "How 'bout dem Stillers, yinz guys?".
