Our main courses were the Lamb Amana, which is minced lamb mixed with spices then formed into a long meatball and cooked on a skewer, and lamb shish kebab. Both were really good. Ambiance is good, service cannot say much as the place was empty but I will say this we were seating next to the kitchen, there was a small opening to kitchen, and the waitress was just standing there with her back facing to us talking to the staff inside. As a native New Yorker I'm always skeptical of restaurants in tourist spots and generally shy away from them but after a long day of being a tourist in London, I stepped in here for some reprieve from the summer heat. First of all, the ambiance is really nice. High ceilings with tasteful modern decor, cozy booths and tables, plenty of outdoor seating, and a classy looking bar. I loved the fact that they had a kids menu with kid-friendly options. My younger one was thrilled with his chicken nuggets and heaping plate of fries. I ordered the lamb kebab which was excellently seasoned and came with a perfectly portioned side of rice and side salad. My older one ordered the chicken kebabs which were Amazing. After an overnight flight from the US and a later-than-expected check-in at our hotel, we ventured out around the neighborhood looking for food and ended up at nearby Southbank. There were enough people already there to suggest to us that this was likely a pretty good restaurant. We were promptly seated and had great overall service. The chicken kabobs were tender and had a wonderful blend of spices that we couldn't quite identify. The burger and fries were also very good. Even the dressing used on the side salad was very tasty. Excellent Near Eastern/Middle Eastern food on London's south bank. My large party and I had a variety of dishes that were all stellar. Chicken kabobs were tender and soft, chicken kofte skewers (my favorite) were also super moist and flavorful with a perfect blend of seasoning, and the tabbouleh was right on point. The only thing that I wasn't a massive fan of was the cheese berag - tasted more like deep fried cheese taquitos rather than the soft and flakey morsels with which I'm more familiar. We started with an appetizer Imam Bayildi with roasted eggplant, chickpeas and bell peppers that was great to dip our pita bread in. As usual, started with calamari (still no tentacles), chicken wings (very well marinated and grilled but not spicy). Both are still very enjoyable. I got horrible food poisoning from one of the lamb dishes. When I posted this review on Google the day after I ate there, the owner replied that perhaps my sickness was from a meal I ate 3 days ago. My husband and I are on our belated honeymoon and I have been recovering from being violently ill going into my 4th day now - so I've become angrier that I ate this food since I posted on Google. We ate at Southbank on Christmas night, and not many places were open so it was quite busy. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed and service was quite slow. They had vegetarian and vegan options. The food was okay, it could have been more flavorful. The sautéed spinach side was probably my favorite food item. The bathrooms were very dirty but the kitchen looked clean from what I could see. One daughter had the chicken skewers and same deal. Both come with a simple salad and basmati rice. My other daughter ate a burger which was standard. My wife ordered the seafood stew which came with prawns and squid (she opted out of mussels) vegetables in a creamy tomato sauce which worked wonders with the rice. We also got calamari which was yummy but again would have loved just a bit more on the plate. The bread they served was phenomenal. I walked up to the restaurant and was promptly greeted by a host outside. I chose indoor seating. Good choice, because the ambience inside is nice and there was no wind to contend with. A three minute walk from the London Eye, this place has great Mediterranean food. Started with the tzatziki and truth be told I wanted to lick the plate- it was so creamy and delicious, and served with warm, grilled pita. They even brought us over extra pita (thank you!) I ordered the lamb moussaka and my boyfriend ordered the adana kebab, both of which we enjoyed very much. We ended our night with hookah outside. It was even better when I added the "hot sauce" mixture of peppers that was brought to the table as we discussed the different spice level of different cultures around the world. On a recent trip to London, I made it my mission to eat a different nationality food each and every day. This might very well have been the best of the bunch! There's some 13 course meal deal for 12 pounds (or 12 courses for 14 pounds) each that looked like a great way to try a little bit of everything.
