I've been a patient of the South Coast Medical Group for 35+ years. I appreciate that there are many specialist under the group that makes getting a referral easy. I also appreciate that they have many locations across Chatham County and a few of the neighboring counties. I have been seeing Dr. Michael Cohen as my family medicine PCP for many years. He takes time with his patients and my appointment never feels rushed due to time. The office tends to schedule as many appointments possible which tends to make him run late, but I know that his other patients are receiving the same care and attention that I am as well. I've learned to schedule my appointments either as early as possible or as the last appointment of the day. I like that he listens to me as a patient to find the best solution to receive treatment. They use the myPrivia app which makes it easy to see upcoming appointments, view the notes from my office visits and lab results, check-in and pay my co-pay, and also message the office if something arises. I've been going to SouthCoast Health in Pooler for a fee years now, and my experience has consistently been great. I see Dr. Cohen, and he's honestly one of the best doctors I've had. He takes his time, explains things in depth, and makes sure you fully understand what's going on instead of rushing you out the door. Another big plus is how convenient everything is at this location. They offer lab work, shots, and other services right there, which makes appointments so much easier since you don't have to go to multiple places. Front Office staff is okay, since the advances of technology, I check in online and avoid much of the in person check in process thus only give my name and dob. The nursing staff is quick and kind. This office has the worst customer service imaginable. Wait times are an hour plus for most visits. The Doctors are all great doctors, the review is not based on doctors. This is a management and personnel problem . Today I left two messages on patient portal at 8:10 AM and 10:30 AM. Then called with 17 minute wait time on hold to leave an urgent message for the doctor to call back for urgent assistance. No call back from anyone or response from the two messages on the patient portal. I then call the after hours service to get the on call doctor and was told the protocol sheet will not allow patients to leave messages or request a call back from the on call doctor. Only doctors can request a call from the on call doctor and patients must wait until business hours (which I did today through all means with no response) or patients mist go to an emergency room and have them contact an on call doctor. For an office managed in a way that I can not contact any of the great doctors for a simple sinus infection I must share my experience for others to be aware. read more

Great bedside manner, the office staff is compassionate and understanding, and they do everything they can to get their patients what they need. Office is totally unorganized. There is no continuity with records or check in. If they send you down to Eisenhower for a specialist, be prepared to have to do your medical history over at the check in desk including meds, ailments, allergies and surgeries. Then when you get to the exam room you have to do it again. Why isn't that information available to all offices for all appointments. As an older patient, each episode took 10-15 minutes. Very aggravating which is one of the reasons I don't go there anymore. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I called for an appointment, none were available on the website. I was put on hold, the person told me they would be right back...waited 20 minute. I said I needed an appointment for cough and cold and informed the person I had tested negative for Covid. She told me that I would have to go to Savannah for the appointment instead of Pooler, because they don't see sick people in Pooler. I decided in order to get immediate help to go to Saint Joseph's Candler urgent care they were able to schedule me immediately. They actually treat sick people. read more

Dangerously distracted and unprofessional Lab staff. I showed up 10 minutes early to my 3pm blood draw appointment. I sat until 3:25pm in the waiting area. This would be understandable if this was a walk in or if it was busy. Instead, it was three lab staff with one person talking very loud about how well she is paid and that she was considering going part time, that she could work anywhere because labCorp is everywhere but since her husband works in Rincon, she is stuck here. She is considering retirement and details of other personal stories. I'm writing this to highlight how loud the conversation was to be heard in the waiting room. I went back to the counter and informed them that I needed to get back to work and they said to go back till I was called. Perhaps she got upset but when I did finally get seated, the puncture was painful and what scared me more was her distraction as she continued to twist back to talk to her coworkers about how her niece loves candy. This is a gentle reminder that the patients that come to your office may be suffering and anxious. Poorly behaving staff like this will only harm them. Kindly train these lab staff to be sensitive to the needs of a patient and understand that the world does not revolve around them. read more

Hello I work for Publix and one of your nurses were very nasty to employees working on sub line. What I don't get is you in the business of helping people so you should automatically have a friendly approachable persona.Want a sub but saying if the bread hard you bringing it back,after she told you it wasn't.Then the young lady couldn't hear you so you start pointing instead of speaking to her then you turn to the next employee to tell her what you wanted and ignored the one making your sub.All that was not necessary not at all in a nurse uniform in with Southcoast health on the front..If you having a bad day don't come we take care of our customers to the highest level I stand on my customer service I love my job.Not a good look to have employees with their demeanor all ready being displayed at work.Poor patients.Maybe her pony tail was too tight glasses no good and lashes to long. read more

Dr Wilson will not provide any help. She does not show any concern for her patients. She also has no sense of urgency for doing things and for referrals. Her nurse Roxanne is very very rude. She won't listen and won't let you speak. I do not recommend this practice as the lab people are just as rude and unprofessional. read more

Administration is atrocious. They do not respond to messages in their portal and hang up on you when you are trying to make in appt after waiting 30 minutes on hold. After telling them you're experiencing shortness of breath from a medication that Dr Cohen prescribed, they tell you that it will be 2-weeks before you can see you. Visit a doctor months ago for ten minutes for a checkup decided didn't like that one for my primary care physician. Tried to choose another doctor and this place would cancel appointments and say you have this first physician as your doctor and even when I tell them no I do not they don't listen. If you think patient care involves being listened to when you are literally paying for it this is not the place. Rude nurses don't go here if you like living. read more

My husband and I have been seeing the same physician at South Coast Health for many years. Recently, my husband had a severe case of gout which required an office visit. He could not bend his knee and was in a significant amount of pain. I drove him to the Dr., because he was totally dependent upon me for EVERYTHING. He could not get up by himself to go to the bathroom, dress himself, etc. When we arrived and got a wheel chair for him, I had to hold his leg up as the nurse wheeled him down this long hallway to the exam room. We are both Seniors, and his leg was pretty heavy. Dr. Wilson did a great job as always and ordered two steroid shots for him while we were there. He almost passed out from those, because he suffers from fear of needles. I had to put wet paper towels on his forehead and neck until I was able to get him settled and ready to leave, because the nurse left the room. I was trying to maneuver him and the wheel chair out of the exam room by myself. I had no help going through doors, etc. and I had to pull him backwards because I couldn't hold his knee up and push him forward at the same time. I got him in to the car by myself to drive him home. I manage his meds for him, making sure I give them to him as needed. Today, I took him for his follow-up and was told that I had to stay in the waiting room by the Dr.'s nurse. I was pretty angry that I was treated like this. I guess because they didn't need me to take care of carrying his leg and getting him around in the wheel chair, and staying with him while he recovered from his injection, that I was not a necessary component in his care. I had some questions for his Dr. about an upcoming dental surgery scheduled in a few days, but had to stand at the door in the reception area and ask the nurse these questions of which she never came back to give me the answers. I'm highly insulted and thought I should let others know because as I sat there, I watched several couples going in, as well as a Mother and adult daughter. They did not need assistance to walk etc. So why was I denied the right to be with my husband...as I am his full time care provider and need to have access to his Dr. read more

Slow staff, uninterested doctor. Each time I arrived on time for my appointment, I had to wait for an hour or more to be seen by the doctor. Yet, when your turn comes they're rushed and impatient. When it comes to prescriptions, it is clear they're working as sales people for drug companies rather than caring for patients needs. They'll prescribe the most expensive medicine although alternate generics are available. Dr. Sliker refused to call the pharmacy to confirm an alternate antibiotic despite being called repeatedly by the pharmacist. Stay clear and find better doctors elsewhere. read more

Dr Wilson and her medical assistant were kind and thorough. I recommend them. But the lab at this office is TERRIBLE!!!! They are not concerned about patient privacy or being kind. The lab tech that I worked with, Kenya, gives orders to 2 or 3 patients at a time and it gets confusing as to whom she is addressing and where each one is to go. The lab tech gets very agitated if you ask questions, are not familiar with where she is sending you and does not tolerate questions. AWFUL!! If you go, get your lab work done elsewhere!!! read more

I've spent the last two years seeing various doctors, having numerous tests and procedures done. My first visit to SouthCoast yesterday was like a breath of fresh air. Not only was every single person who worked there courteous and friendly, they were very efficient. Dr. Rosenfeld took the time to listen, and finally, finally ordered the bloodwork I've been asking for and other tests needed to hopefully figure out what is going on with my health. I intentionally showed Dr. Sizemore my list of medications before I agreed to change doctors to start with her. My treatment includes fibromyalgia and when I had been to see her 3 times. (I have to see my GP every 3 months to satisfy requirements from Medicare). On the forth visit she would not refill my pain meds for fibromyalgia. I have not been able to sleep more than an hour or two sporadically for 3 weeks now. The pain is excruciating. I walk the floors every night. All she would offer me is anti-inflammatories. They really do a number on my stomach. She has not responded to my calls. A CNA calls me with a message from her. She has never touched me. She doesn't check my health needs at all. The last dr. I went to Dr. Perry Douglas in Richmond Hill did the same thing. They sit in their little chair on the other side of the room and I feel like I have some kind of communicable disease. She never looked in my eyes, throat, ears, or check my feet (I am a type 1 diabetic). I hate all the SouthCoast doctors that I have been referred to. Well, maybe not Dr. Bolch. He is cardiologist and just quit SouthCoast. I was told by a previous employee (and there are many because the doctors are so demanding. I am sitting here in very much pain and only got 1 hour sleep last night. The pain keeps me up. I am not able to function in any type of normal routine. Never again will I pay for a doctor to sit on the other side of the room and just talk about her dogs, kids, and her/his life. I want a real doctor to attend to my needs. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT see Dr. Wilson here. She is a complete jerk. I went in for stomach pain and the medication she gave me was making it worse. I had posted on FB regarding my issues and had so many people mention their gallbladder. To be safe, I called and asked if I could request an ultrasound for my gallbladder based on hearing so many people mention it (I have insurance, it will be covered, in not worried about that). When I called today to find out where the request for an ultrasound stood and ask about the medication making things worse, the nurse advised "Dr. Wilson CLEARLY stated the medicine would take 2 weeks to work. She also stated if I'd rather get my medical advice from FB I can find myself a different dr." Ok, two things here... first of all, I knew the medication would take two weeks but she NEVER MENTIONED that it would make everything worse. Secondly, I wasn't getting medical advice from FB, I made a post about my pains and how long they'd been going on and a lot of people mentioned gallbladder and having issues having it diagnosed. So I thought, well shoot, let's just do an ultrasound to rule that out, no big deal. Well apparently questioning Dr. Wilson is a huge no no. Absolutely rude, brought me to a level of anger I don't let myself get to, but this is my health, and if I feel like I want to rule something out, then I'm going to ask to do so. read more

DO NOT MAKE APPOINTMENTS! I made a new patient appointment for a physical online. I checked in online through the patient portal and entered all my information. When I arrive I always refused because I was awaiting results....that is mandatory for my job not because I was sick. I was told to reschedule. When I came back to ask if I would be charged because I had to reschedule and ask since I'm a new patient and I don't know your policy's the nurse told me to "be quiet"! Be quiet! I have never in my life been told to be quiet because I'm asking a question! My inconvenience of this appointment wasn't even a concern to this facility! Did not have to wait long at all after I filled out my paperwork. (Maybe 5 minutes). Dr Cohen was very personable and seems genuinely concerned about the health of his patients. south coast staff in pooler needs improvement- attitude and lessons in talking to people. office policy needs to change, they send you for tests and never call back with results. when you call then to check on the results it appears to be a problem, then its the doctors fault because they have 7-10 days to read the results. just not acceptable. if there was urgency to have the test done then there should be urgency in reading the results and delivering the results. they have forgotten who pays their salary read more

I have been a patient of the Pooler office for over 3 years and receive efficient care during office visits. When I recently had lab work performed, I requested when checking out, to be sent a copy of my lab results for my personal records. I received a follow-up call 1-2 weeks after my visit from a staff nurse who told me "your lab results look OK". At that time, I made a SECOND request that a copy of my lab results be mailed to me. After 3 weeks, I have had to call the Pooler office for a THIRD time to request a copy of my lab results. My impression is that communication is poor (at best) and the physicians are not aware of this patient relationship abuse by their records staff. Since I (my insurance company) is paying for these lab services, I have a right to receive the reports in a timely manner! Right now, I feel like I am forgotten as soon as I leave the office or hang up the phone. "Socialized medicine"? ....... I hope not! read more

I have learned my lesson and am now working with the Memorial group instead of SouthCoast. Anytime I walk into a Memorial office, they're obviously much more concerned with my health and comfort. All of my experience with SouthCoast has been about money. I feel like I am nothing but a dollar $ign to them. The staff is rude and rushes you along. Nobody smiles. Nobody has a good bedside manner. If you have even the smallest balance, they are agressive about it. I'm blessed to have some of the best medical insurance money can buy, but they want to squeeze out every dime when you walk in the door, and long after you've walked out. I question whether I've even owed some of the balances I've paid, but they are just so....agressive. For the poor treatment you get visiting the office, it is just so not worth it. My husband and I have used this group for many years and for the most part have been very happy with them. We started using Dr. Sliker before he joined Southcoast and have stayed with him because we are very satisfied with him. When we first started using him we had insurance. I went through a period of 4 years that I did not have insurance before my medicare kicked in. During this time I did have some issues with their central billing office billing me for services that I had already paid for, however, the Pooler office manager got this straightened out. My advice for self-pay patients is get a detailed printout of your bill before you leave the office. Since going on medicare I have had nothing negative to say. I would have given 5 stars if the central billing office were more efficient. read more

Poor customer service. I usually have to get referrals approved for appointments to see other doctors. Whether I hand-walk or fax the information in there is always some error by SC staff in completing the process. When you call in to ask questions the answers you get make you shake your head in disgust or just want to hang up. My doctor became part of this group and while this may work for her it leaves a lot to be desired from my point of view. It is like SC has too many hands in the pot and they are stubbling over each other. Only certain people should handle certain functions and customers should be able to deal with one person or a backup if that person is not available. read more
