In hindsight, that decision was a serious mistake. I am currently pursuing my master's degree, and I have repeatedly told myself to be patient--every institution has flaws. However, nothing I have experienced compares to the dysfunction at Lamar. The lack of communication is unacceptable, and the complete unwillingness to assist students is appalling. This is not a minor inconvenience; it is a systemic failure that deserves to be studied. Students are consistently left without guidance, support, or accountability from the very people who are supposed to help them succeed. If you are considering attending this institution, understand this clearly: you are on your own. No matter the circumstances, the university will protect itself first, even when it is clearly at fault. Lamar University does not support its students--it works against them.

An independent panel review in advance of termination was never a consideration; instead a singular "auditor" - employee of the school system - was the only one doing the so-called audit. The individual in question sacrificed personal family time, in addition to personal financial resources, to get a solid grant program in place for this educational institution and was rewarded with what can be viewed as a witch hunt.
